Who could possibly need more than this?
>>
>>108807636
make it a 7.0 and I agree
>>
>>108807636
What could you possibly need that for? The best digital art I've ever seen could all have been comfortably made in MS Paint.

>Not just using the free CS2 version Adobe had to give out.
I mean 5 (and 7) are nice, but there's no reason to NOT use CS2.

doesn't gimp have less feature than photoshop?
>>
>>108807664
Look at all that wasted UI space, then look at the OP. Gimp never had a chance.
>>

Most professionals who use Photoshop for their jobs use the CC versions IIRC. The older versions are not compatible with features introduced in CC versions such as variable fonts, artboards, advanced smart objects and Camera Raw filters.
>>
>>108809254
That's a lot of fields that use photoshop there, a photographer might not need the same toolset than a web designer.
>>
pse has batch processing for raw files nice rendering if cameraraw new enough
>>
>>108807636
Drawfags because Adobe has added more features that are useful for art.

I can't believe I wasted 30 years of my life painstakingly lasso'ing photos in PS and now it can be done with a short command in AI

No, I'm fine with GIMP 3.0.5 and actually do need it.

I need GEGL graph and my GEGL plugins and Flat Screws GMIC to GEGL plugins and Yousei3D's adjustment layer automation and copy paste layer filter stuff and GMIC and resynth. The reason I need GIMP is GEGL plugins I write myself.

interesting. Disgust is usually triggered by decaying food, excretion, rotting organic matter, sex crimes, sexual disinterest, norm deviancy and betrayal. That's what causes the brain to run gross.exe - But not software! Generic image editing software isn't suppose to flare up the insular cortex. Maybe you should under go a brain scan to figure out why your insular cortex activates at GIMP.

once i tried to pirate CS3 and the only way to keep it working was to pause a virtual box on day one of thirty.
>>
I meant archive the virtual box in a snapshot restore the virtual box on its first day of 30 day trial. Other then that it was virtually impossible to pirate CS3. However CS5 was easy to pirate because I did it when its servers were up in 2018. My CS3 expedition was 2024

I used to upload "renders" of a bunch of anime characters and artwork, I don't regret it.
It's pretty rare nowadays for people to create things with renders, it was more of a forum signature thing, which it's pretty sad.
>>
>>108807656
It's been a long time since I used it but I remember some Vista-era security update fucked up the window management in CS2
>>
nobody will believe me but i actually use photoshop 5.0 regularly on a laptop from 1998 to edit photos coming out of a camera from 1998

unironically, and provably, still more usable than gimp
>>
I don't remember which version, but I definitely remember using some version that didn't have groups/folders for layers and then when the new version came out it was a really nice feature.
>>
>>108807636
Back when you didn't need 128GB of RAM to run Photoshop.

I unironically use GIMP most of the time now and occasionally the same Photoshop 7.0 I downloaded 20 years ago for a few specific tasks.
>>

I used Photoshop 7 until 2025 (stopped using it because I no longer use windows) and there were issues. It can't write to drives that are bigger than 2tb.
For my use case it was quite annoying since most of my drives are bigger and I had to create smaller partitions.
