How does this make you feel?
i stopped feeling things 15 years ago
Yea thats what I am usingWhats up dawg
>>108807880>DEbloat
>>108807880It makes me laugh
>>108807880it's solid
>>108807915my nigga
>>108807920>no DEHow
>>108808048Just don't install it or set it so you don't boot into itYou don't need it
>>108807880>linux >in 2026
I am bored of distro hoppingWhat Os should i use now
>>108808048Realistically, by using a window manager only like i3, Hyprland, etc., and then downloading programs piecemeal rather than accepting a suite of them all together packaged with the DE.Unrealistically, by just booting into the TTY and working from there. Without a DE, you will have no greeter, so you'll get dropped into the text based TTY login. You could go from there, but honestly it would be stupid unless it's not a desktop experience you're after.
>>108807880nice I would use Arch with CachyOS repos if I didn't run my own distro
>>108808057The PC iteself is bloatYou can sit in a dark room and imagine the code
>>108808097it's literally in the op, if you're tired of distro hopping, that's exactly the distro you want. quick and easy preconfigured arch.
>>108807880It makes me optimistic about Windows 11 because it has spooked MIcrosoft.
>>108808200nah microslop is cookedthe only thing windows had is gaming, we'are at the point that some native windows games run better on linux
>>108807880It's an okay distro. I use nixos with hyprland.
>>108808097If you want a distro that just works cachyos or arch. You won't distro hop anymore unless you want a declarative, atomic, reproducible distro which would be nixos or guix.
>>108808120>Without a DE, you will have no greeter, so you'll get dropped into the text based TTY login. You could go from there, but honestly it would be stupid unless it's not a desktop experience you're afterI'm actually going to be buying a cheap thinkpad to do this with because I could honestly do 100% of everything I feel good about doing in the terminal and it would be nice to have an environment to live that fantasy to the max without any bloat or modern web distractions.
>>108808280I spend too much of my time on the computer interacting with images and rich documents for that to be feasible for me, but if you really do interact with nothing but plaintext inputs and outputs then I can see how it would be OK. I have a headless server that I only manage with SSH and no tunneling GUI or web UI and that feels very clean and no additional mess. It's nice.
>>108808280>buying a cheap thinkpadyou know that you can just disable your display manager and you will boot into a tty, why do you minimalists always go for the most retarded solutions
>KDE plasmaLemme guess, gayland? >another one of those gay faggots that need compositing on his desktop and like 5 frames of latency
>>108808564>just defeat the point entirely
>>108808120>she doesn't know about greetd or lightwm or just rolling your own sddm greeter
>>108808569if you want a bloatless setup then just dual boot retard or use btrfs subvolumes and have a root parition with zero bloat. but go ahead consooom your thinkpad and feel good about yourself.
>>108808578Obviously if you install a greeter... you will have a greeter. I'm just saying if you go from having a DE to not having a DE, you won't have the one you might be expecting, and probably none at all if you were already relying on the DE to provide one.
>>108808598>h-h-having spare computing devices is bad, okay??
Use case for CachyOS? Mention one thing it can do that Ubuntu or Fedora can’t already handle.
>>108808637pacman, aur, x86-64-v4 call someone to change your diaper now
>>108807880Cachy is a distro ig. Ok.
>>108807880I use this too! After ~8 months of using it, I realized that I should use paru instead of sudo pacman -Syu to update my AUR packages too...
>>108807880which initramfs?
>>108807884ED?
>>108808280You can do this already with Control+Alt+F2 or Control+Alt+F3 (all the to F6 I believe). You can keep a DE or WM open in TTY1/TTY2 by default and just switch to it when needed. TTY + Tmux is very usable if you only use TUIs. You're more likely to actually use it if you do it on your main computer, but if buying a Thinkpad to do this has more of a fun/cool factor then go ahead.
>>108807880>How does this make you feel?like being next to pic related
>>108810461Why?
>>108808097Windows 11. BSD if you want to tinkertranny.
>>108810503KDE is pretty jeeted. They seem to love KDE in Brazil too.
>>108810549I don't care who makes the software I use, though.
