please just make SSDs cheaperI already have my ram I'm just tired of constantly running out of storagewhy is a 1tb drive nearly $200 now
i paid $230 for my first SSD which was 256gb.you're still getting a good deal.
>>108808837that's like saying it's a good deal to buy a 2013 car today at 90% of its original price because people in 2013 paid 100%
>>108808837And that 256gb drive wasn't QLC DRAMless dogshit.
>>108808818I got x2 8tb m.2 drives. Now I dont care what happens
>>108808879Yes it was, yes it fucking was, it didn't even have TRIM. Fuck you.
>>108808818Is that Brad Taste In Music?
Just buy nowDidn't you see Spirit Airlines crashed and is being replaced with nothing Entry level markets are disappearingEntry level jobs are disappearing ladders are being pulled up and burned Get in now get everything you can now The rich have had enough and no longer accept money from the poorsIf the poors want anything they will have to BNPL it that is the only way they will get to play the game https://youtu.be/RUYUzlRgt_QThis shit is all ending get what you can asap the future's much darker than the past
>>108810213its too high for my purchasing power regardless. >um take out a small loan of a gorillion dollars and dont pay itnot only would that not work, i have no collateral so jews wont give me such a loan
>>108808868If it's a brand new 2013 car, then yes, it is. You're argument is probably that cars have gotten better efficiency or something over the last 10ish years, but were comparing storage prices to maybe a year ago, and these expensive SSD models are literally the exact same from when they were cheaper.
>>108810213Remember 30-class GeForce cards? Been a minute, hasn't it.
>>108808837KEK I should find a retard to sell my 256gb SSD to for that priceeasy schmoney
>>108808818I have ten TB in raid and machine local storage in half of it is ssd just in the room I am which is a bedroom not even a lab or games and kino room .You are from a different parallel dimension.
>>108808818get a job man its only like 32 hours of flipping burgers at mcdonalds
>>108810893mcdonalds only hires teenage girls now
>>108810893https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QAVquq9bNsHonestly I find being a semi retired neet gives me more time to find cool stuff for very little including parts
>>108810893https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMonlRsJ5hYsomeone has to make my burger king triple decker with bacon and cheese on social security pay day
>>108810898im a 30 year old transsexual so theyll never hire me but i have a 6 figure job already so i guess i dont have to worry about that
>>108810907BTW I wrote he post on /biz/ with those lyrics, must have inspired him.
>>108810920>a 6 figure job alreadyThank you for paying tax. I spent some of my social security on a new case today, an old coolermaster MasterBox NR600 with ODD model new in box, nice case.
>>108810959You are very welcome my nigga I hope you enjoy it
>>108810976I'm delighted with it, more so because I'm a physical media nut, it's getting a blue ray m burner in it, a 1200/1300 watt psu and artic fans (no leds that stuff is for gaymers and troons). I have 2x32GB DDR5 sticks for it but am waiting out the year to see what comes up after 1850, it's going to be my local LLM box replacing my i5-14400 gen 5060 16GB Ti box. I used be like you and pay taxes to for a long time. Trust me being semi retired and getting social security while your 401K adds more daily that you could make wagecucking is peak comfy. Become the boomer.
>>108810976>You are very welcome my nigga I hope you enjoy ithere it isthis onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exauYtSUGSA
>>108810995Yeah man I'm hoping that's me someday. I max out my roth every year and shove a fuckton into my 401k so I'm on track. Doing pretty well all things considered.
i was just at the thrift store and noticed somebody had pulled the ddr3 as well as the (presumably hdd) hard drive out of one of the old computers they had for sale it's getting rough out there
>>108811018go for it dude, tech sucks after 40 and is a no go zonne afer 50, I think it6 just sucks generally now anyway as a job anyway. My 401K has grown more in he last 6 years than I would ever have earned wagecucking + become the caucasian minority on social security in home home and it's absolutely comfy, best time of my life since my early 20s and aq couple of years prior to kids (grown, gradulated with no debt)
>>108811037I love looking for physical medua in such places rarely find any hw, a few psps, wi, xbox360 a ds, a couple of old hps mainly new kevboards boxed go a nice logitech 730 in one for he price of a coffee. The cool HW like he 2x32 ddr5 I find in estate auctions ( inn with a wierd mix of old GPUs and even sound cards for fifty bucks) and house clearances. You need time to find real bargains
No individual on Earth needs like 5TB of storage
>>108811129I'm in engineering so I feel pretty safe but yeah I'll take your advice and be really wise with my finances so I can retire earlier.
>>108811164how sheltered and naive are you
>>108811200>No you see I NEED 6000 movies
>>108811246typical consooooomer brainrot
>>108811164I do use it but I mess around wih big datasets and models a lot. I find that for offline media, software etc that 8GB or so is excessive. then again I have most of my video on physical media anyway, so that's a software archive, 100,000 MP3s, and a few TB of MP4 movies hat are too hard o find on physica, pron,, kiwikis, offline wikipedia, guttenberg library 20,000 meme library, PDFs and images, txts etc etc. You could probably get by with 4 but here is no much point unless it is on RAID for speed and a little redundancy, I also mirror it between three RAIDs and keep disk images etc etc. It's probably got to expensive for many anons to build a real offline lan with RAID NAS or SAN and meaningful offline compute resources though right now. Most would be doing well to have a reasonably modern desktop and a laptop
>>108811337>>108811246Oh i do. the thing is video/film/cinema has only been around for 100 years and you would be hard pushed in an average year if there were 30 really good movies and TV seasons, so that works out as maybe 3000 for the entire 'best of ' cinema (throw on another 500 if you really want) and TV most of it only produced in resolutions less than 480/1080p and a bit of 2160p ( real 4K rarely acually tranferred from prints), same for pron, most of it was 480 or 720 or 1080 and you would want to be really obsessed if you have to have more than 1-2TB of it and you'll probably find like with cinema at that point you have he best of it. Music here is a LOT more of but I found that after 100,000 or so I had all the real highpoints of every genre and most of what I particularly liked. Books, guttenerg is 75000 or so and wikisource and addititonal archive like 10,000 greatest scifi or whatever, prepper libraries or whatever will probably leave you happy enough on 250000 or so. All he kiwikis are less that a TB nearer half aTB. As regards comsuming, having a nice selection of music games, books, videos ect etc is just nice. Feel free to be happy and own nothing and all that it's jus not for everyone and the direction tech is taking means that you might find relying solely on sailing the high seas leaves you marooned. You're too late anway. Physical media stopped being free/cheap a few years ago and it's way more costly to store it on HDDs/SSDs. The world could fucking vanish and I'd have my music, kino, vidya and software, drivers, patches etc etc for the rest of eternity. I'm glad I did too.
>>108808818>SSDwhy do you need that? just buy spinning rust retard
>>108811678Well nta I suppose if you don't have RAID HDDs are slower than SSDs. The only way I use HDDs are in NAS/SAN RAID or in legacy machines like XP or Win 7 designed for them. Modern OSs expect SSDs or NVMEs
>>108808818not happeningjews and their cattle (chinks, jews, etc) buy storage drives for 5000 times it's worth and Gamers defend the absurd pricesit's only going to go up bmorethere is of course a solution to this problem but i can't say it here
>>108808818>$200they're like fifty bucks on temu
>>108810319>you are argumenthuh?
>>108808818Why do you need to gen 1tb of cp?
>>108811756but what if you actually want the stated storage amount?
>>108811771just learn the difference between MB and MiB
>>108811776i already do and that doesn't have any effect on the storage amount, it's just my personal knowledge. It's a matter of physical reality. Did you think I was manifesting reality for everyone?
>>108808818I mean you are going to buy an AI subscription anyway might as well get some storage while you're at it.
>>108812564>>108808818>I want no local storage anywhere near me. No disks, no state, my world entirely in the network.
>>108808818We told you this would happen. For decades we told you but you didn't fucking listen. Now you pay the price. 250/month today, 2,500/month tomorrow. Live with it sucker.
>>108811246You are weird. In my colder storage drive I havemy eroge dir alone is 5.3TBdocuments 3.2TBvideo dir is 2.9TB - 2.3 is anime of that 1.6TB is u18, 711.4GB 18+ , the rest is programming relatedimages dir is 2.6TB (actually 2.6TB of that was e621 images I was using for a project from February I forgot about so I just deleted. Now it's 50GB)exhentai 1TB game dir is 518.7GB (mostly some old crpgs)lightnovel dir is 1.9TBmanga dir is 543.6GBaudio dir is 492.8GB日本語 dir is 390GBFor my usecase my eroge directory needs to be 5.3TB because I have to routinely extract data in order to run searches to stop anons in /hgg2d/ from gatekeeping. For example I have all the text extracted a few different ways, but I save those on my faster drive in compressed format. If they crop something and it's only a portion of an image I'll have go and write a program that efficently scans the images etc. Infact it should be larger than 5.3TB.
