Simultaneously, I would make an agent vibe code the same commits in a copy of the repo. If anyone questions it, you were trying out different modes of AI use with different levels of autonomy to maximize the effectiveness of your AI use.

>>108813538Well how would you fix it? Management wants more productivity, engineers want more pay. If engineers know how productivity is being measured they will game it to get more pay. So the solution would be to either not let the engineers know what the measure is, or make the measure something that benefits the company when engineers game it. But the measures that benefit the company (e.g. quarterly revenue) are noisy, lag and can't be clearly allocated to individuals (you can't tell which engineer produced which part of the revenue). Not telling engineers how you measure success on the other hand breeds distrust.

Like, instead of measuring token usage, just ask that engineers include AI in projects or their workflows where feasible and track instances of that as a 'win'.
