Software has been Apple’s Achilles heel since at least 2020 if not several years before, from half-baked features to poor design to the sheer number of bugs, across all platforms (but most notably on macOS and iPadOS).Scott Forstall’s firing nearly 15 years ago was Tim Cook’s original sin. Apple’s software quality has been in definitive decline ever since.Craig Federighi might actually be a really cool smart dude irl, but he’s no Forstall. In the Ternus era, Apple needs another Forstall, another brilliant but also possibly highly-opinionated prick who’s not afraid to ruffle some feathers.
