If having smart functions came with improvements about being a video device, but nooooo here a flat mirror of moving imagine capable of serving ads that barely holds its crap together the moment you put a 1440p signal in.My old LG is non smart and still capable of receiving full HD transmission no problem.

I do not believe your TV should have to install updates. If I need some kind of streaming application, I will download it on a playstation or something. The TV should just work. What I really hate more than smart TVs though is having to buy a soundbar because every TV sounds like a tin can now. TV speakers were never perfect, but it used to be that you could find models with decent to good sound. Now it's all unusable tin can garbage. It's getting harder and harder to find decent sound without having to buy extra equipment, and I don't want extra equipment for a TV. I want the TV to just work. Again call me old fashioned but I'm not even asking for a surround sound movie theater experience, I just want basic sound that doesn't sound like a tin can.

The problem with smart TVs is that they're not actually smart. Whenever I plug in an older console I have to manually change the aspect ratio to 4:3, it never does it automatically like you would expect.
