>I used alpha shitware from system76
>NTFS game library doesn't work on linux
>Proprietary h264 codecs weren't supported for games

All their problems were from insisting on using locked down shitware that Linux can't support because it's locked down shitware, or from an inability to rtfm

I don't think calling nvidia gpus shitware is going to be a solution to anything, they have like 85% market share. If your software doesn't work on 85% of computers, you are the problem.
>>
>>108812172
nvidia jumps through hoops to avoid giving linux users an easy user experience. AMD and intel did it so there's no excuse
>>
The problem I always have with Linux that none of these losers show or talk about heavily is that the lifetime of your os install is usually limited far more than on Windows, and generally you cannot simply upgrade to the next version.
As someone who actually fucking uses their pc, I need to install at minimum 24 different key software packages and at least a handful of peripherals that probably are not supported on most distros maybe. I can do everything I do on Linux sure but the problem is that I spend a few hours a day for a couple days setting everything up initially and then over the course of a year or two add shit into the os to support new hardware or projects and suddenly bam, os end of life, or bam disto abandoned or took a shit or not good enough anymore or too frustrating to keep supporting and now I have to sink a ton of time Into manually extracting all my data to usb drives, wipe and install new os, put all the data back, spend another week setting everything up and installing random crap. And for what, to do it again in another 2 years? And don't tell me shit about fucking lts, I install lts and bam durr hurry latest version of python is 3.09 sir, fuck you install the beta or fucking manually install python from SOURCE and point to that and now update it manually from here out.
Actually stab yourself in the head if you think this is OK. Fuck you Debian.
>>
>>108812211
This is why we tell you to use Arch.
If it's not in official repos, it's 99.9% in the AUR
>>
>>108812211
it's like this with all tech reviewers. They use some gadget for a couple of weeks and put the video out. Then on a vlog or something they mention this gadget and how it broke almost instantly or had a fatal flaw and they stopped using it.
Which is over emphasise and prioritise reliability in products and software when reading online for reviews.
Desktop linux is just retarded. I mean I get gpu driver issues on windows and have to wait for patches already. When I tried linux there were about 5 things not working right out the gate with a tier 1 supported game, arc raiders. Linux is fine on my nas where I haven't installed anything in over a year or do any hardware stuff
>>
>>108811975
He switched from popOS midway to bazzite, selected the wrong installer, and didn't read the big red warning saying "DO NOT INSTALL THIS ON YOUR HARDWARE", then he switched to steamOS with an AMD card, it worked great, so he talked about it for 30 seconds before switching to kubuntu which was fine except wayland struggled with screencapture. He never mentioned arch or mint.

One other guy mentioned mint for 5 seconds, said "yeah it just worked" before going back to complaining whatever special snowflake distro he kept breaking.
>>
>>108812259
>before switching to kubuntu which was fine except wayland struggled with screencapture
I watched this segment 3 times and still don't know how he end up in a situation where OBS can't capture desktop on Wayland Session. I remember installing Kubuntu 21.10 and even back then OBS was already smart about presenting Pipewire or XSHM capture methods depending on user session.

You see there is no way he is that stupid he's used capture cards. He's not that fucking dumb. It's all fake and gay.
>>
>>108811957
So they should have just used Bazzite on everything and they would have had a almost perfect experience, except for the one single instance in which the devs go out of their way to say it's gonna be jank, and they still managed to find a way to fuck it all up. The other guy ITT called it when he labeled these as "stealth" hit pieces.

all you need to do to make it work is symlink the compatdata folder from the ntfs drive to your main steam library, I had this issue a while ago and it took a few minutes of googling to fix

system76 really does suck ass. I ordered a prebuilt from them once and they didn't put any fucking foam inside the tower or secure the GPU in any way. It arrived with the mobo cracked. best part: it wasn't even the correct GPU

It depends on how you install it. If you switch desktop environment with wayland then it can get messed up. For example if you have gnome, install kde and logout from gnome and login to kde then the desktop portal will be broken and pipewire screen capture wont work. Obs wont list it then and that would explain why linus clicked on pipewire video capture instead since thats the only thing he could find related to pipewire capture. You have to manually restart the desktop portal for it to work or reboot your computer and boot directly into kde.

It has been an issue for years and they still haven't come up with a solution for it.
