Most all old games are on gog and won't launch on win xp, older specific versions of programs are very hard to find because of dead links and people are seemingly satisfied with buggy updates. Forums became ghost towns with dead links. Older microsoft and nvidia drivers and patches are completely wiped out. Sites like "oldversion" are that helpful.

What kind of programs? I just use Gnu/Linux for old games... most of them don't even need proton and work fine with WINE.

also just use linux, way better backwards compat than windows for windows apps
