I always heard W11 is ass so I stayed with W10. My ESU was running out soon and I don't want the washing machine IoT version. So I just went ahead and went to W11. And... it's actually pretty good? Everyone said it runs like shit but my pre COVID 3080 rig runs everything great. Maybe even smoother than W10 in some ways. So was /g/ just lying the whole time?

>>108819196It's great for gaymers.OpenRC Artix enjoyer and even I have a windows 11 machine with all of the sussy bios options enabled.Level 10 Faceit btw

>>108819191In my case my machines just didn't want to update to windows 11 and windows 11 idles at 3 gb so it isn't even worth it to force to install in my old windows 10 laptop that will use like 80-90% of ram. I really didn't have much of a choice to not migrate to Linux. I'm not getting rid of perfectly usable computers because Microsoft thinks I should.
>>108819285Its Android kek
>>108819255Stop being a coward, just admit that you can't bash brother!Love the folks pretending that they don't use GNU/Linux because "I tried man, but I just can't... gotta keep the family fed man." You can make it work. Especially if you are using a potato laptop, you clearly don't need it for work or school if it's that ancient/underpowered.$100 ThinkPads run Windows 11 my guy.
>>108819191Windows 10 had a LOT of problems when it first came out, and is now a much better OS. MS has announced that they will be backpedaling a lot of W11 changes to put an emphasis on native software and so on to fix a lot of its performance issues.
Got a new laptop recently. Of course Windows 11 was on it by default so I gave it a try, for half an hour. It's as bad as I thought. The interface feels like they're trying to be android and it doesn't work because it's not android. Everything was choppy. The tabs in explorer are done the old Firefox way. I could only see three apps in the start menu with the rest of them loading perpetually before it crashed. The only thing I was wrong about was Copilot not being as intrusive as I thought. Then I remembered how they vibecoded it and the disgust of AIslop came back. You do want the washing machine IoT version actually, you just don't realize it. It's just the pro version with some Microsoft products stripped out that you can re-enable if you really want it.But what you really want is to install Trinity on Artix Dinit. But what you truly want is to quit your job/school and commit holy nuclear Jihad in the name of Hitler!
>>108819191The new context menu is still slow and the stupid immoveable taskbar pisses me off. There are other subtle bullshits that annoy me, but aren't a huge deal. Overall it's superior to W10 and anyone who disagrees is a baby duck retard who also doesn't know shit about anything.
>>108819312I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you on Microsoft's side for using 3 gb of ram by doing nothing? Are you gatekeeping me from using Linux? In any case I don't care about your retardation.
>>108819191Shill
>>108819394>get a dogshit laptop>it can't run a modern osWow!
>>108819934>schizo babble7 good8 dogshit10 goodThe 7 holdouts are faggots not the norm. Retard.
it's the same thing as with Vista. /g/tards complain because their ancient 2500k or trashbin stinkpad can't run it.
>>108819943The good/bad cycle is another retarded cope.Windows has been getting shittier with every single release, and its users are constantly engaging in historical revisionism to rationalise their shitty decisions. It's why every good/bad discussion never reaches a consensus. People routinely skipped versions of windows because Microsoft's release schedule was consistently out of sync with people's hardware upgrade cycles. You can accurately date when somebody gets new hardware by which windows versions they rate as "good."
>>108819191For all the shit Microsoft gets about being a jeeted company, most of the anti Windows sentiment comes from the 3rd world. They cannot run Win11 on their shit hardware so they pretend to use linux out of choice.
>>1088199472500k and sandy bridge shitpads are vastly more powerful than the chromebook I installed 11 on
>>108819993Heh, I hadn't even seen your post before making mine, and we've pretty much said the same thing.
>>108819191>Trinity on Artix DinitBased taste, except I would use Devuan instead
>>108819997I can see clearly now the rain is gone. They lack the necessary gpu and as such use cpu rendering. Big oof on their part.
>>108820017it's less than $20 to build a pc that runs win11 without issues

>>108819993Assuming that map (which comes from reddit and has no source btw) is true and captures the totality of Linux market share.
>>108819191My 10 got corrupted so I updooted works nicely for what it is (winblows) /fwt/ is probably gen x boomers with nostalgia for old shit
>>108819191the funny thing about 11 is that it usually runs better on old hardware despite them not wanting you to use it on it
>>108819191My only experience has been using it at work on some beefy machines and it seems alright. More or less a sidegrade to WIN10 but there are some things like needing to click "more options when you right click or the settings menu in general that arestraight up retarded design choicesI have a feeling though that my relatively okay experience is down to using machines with 64+ GB of RAM though, even on idle or just with Firefox open it uses about 20 gigs of the shit
>>108822861>here are some things like needing to click "more options when you right click or the settings menu in general that arestraight up retarded design choiceskek why did they do this? Also fucking copilot everywhere.>physical button on the keyboard >permanent hovering icon on the page in MS applications>every right click menu>prominent menu button in ribbons and menus of MS applications>notifications that periodically implore you to use it>if you uninstall it from W11 and take the time to disable it where you can in all the different applications, it'll all revert with the next updateDoes annoying people into using their jeeted chatbot actually work?
>>108819191>So was /g/ just lying the whole time?Yes. The amount of false information that gets spread by these people is unreal and I don't know if they are either retarded, trolling or if they are deranged Linux freaks who want gullible people to switch. Windows 11 is literally just an improved version of Windows 10 and runs completly fine on a 8 year old, low-end Zen+ CPU with integrated graphics and 8GB of RAM.
