today i spent 30 hours awake trying to install and get this to work.it didn't work.i ran into a different problem every 30 minutes or so.i eventually gave up and installed debian xfce and everything just werked out of the box.I might be a brainlet, but i haven't touched windows since 2016 basically.why do normies believe this is easier to use than Linux?
>>108821537windows died at w8, modern windows is as broken as troonix
it might be that you're shit
Maybe it's a skill issue? The only thing I change in windows is the default browser and the default app for a couple of file formats.I use a fuckton of stuff and haven't had a single problem in the last decade probably. Can you share couple of problems you had?
>>108821537I RUFUS'd both W10 and W11 more than 100 times and it's the easiest shit to go through & then debloat afterwards. Shit doesn't take more than 15min to do both the install & debloat/config.Scary that most of the people that post here have a hard time with Windows, how would you retards even look with GNU/+Linux.
>>108821537>DebianOutdated jeetslop. Use Arch+KDE if you want a desktop OS
>getting filtered by winblows lol lmao
>>108821537you're missing out
>>108821691Are you unironically using FF without uBO?
>>108821645well i had a very special usecase. i was trying to install windows on a very old laptop from 2011 or 2010.i tried modifying windows 11 first. then tried windows iot enterprise ltsc.but a few problems i had>can't just cat windows.iso /dev/sdX or dd it. have to use woeusb or some other script because windows ISOs are some weird abomination.>you have to disable internet during installation otherwise there is no way to skip login to microsoft account>the updates interface was buggy and i had to update and reboot a few times before all the updates were installed.>preinstalled edge was so old it couldn't even render modern websites for me to navigate to download firefox.>iot ltsc doesn't come with image viewer so i had to install third party ones or enable microsoft store to install the default ones which were bloated and slow. i ended up installing vlc and irfanview anyway.>i still got weird error messages telling me "some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" in some pages in the settings which i can't figure out.>the touchpad multitouch didn't work because it couldn't find and fetch the correct drivers.>font rendering for non latin scripts was horrible, tried running cleartype but it didn't help>installing a different language pack for microsoft office was the most cumbersome experience i have ever had installing a piece of software.
>>108821537you need to use MBR when legacy bios booting and GPT when EFI booting
>>108821722Lmaoing at the absolute state of loonix retards
>>108821748not my fault that linux just werked.all of those aren't problems that should exist
>>108821537Because it's a massive OS that is full of garbage no one can touch, other than tacking on more shit in hopes of driving M$ revenues up. That's it. Ebussy is the antithesis of this, which is why brainlets seethe, but GNOME 3 literally had shit M$ only just added to their shit OS with Windows 11.
>>108821537>why do normies believe this is easier to use than Linux?Nobody who uses Windows installs Windows. The 1 or 2 exceptions aren't worth counting.
>>108821778based ebussy shillthe more i see the absolute state of windows. the more i realize how poor of a taste most of /g/ has.thanks ebussy for saving gnome from turning into an unusable abomination because of some silly meme like "MUH BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY" or "MUH TRADITIONAL DESKTOP"
>>108821803I use windows and install windows. It just works (if you are not retarded)
>>108821803Ya this is truke. They just have the shitty vendor install and the worse they experience is confusing Windows update failures for a few weeks.
>>108821722>i still got weird error messages telling me "some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" in some pages in the settings which i can't figure out. This happens when you use gpedit.msc. If group policy overrides a setting, then you're no longer allowed to change stuff related to it in the settings UI.>>108821820I don't care about special snowflakes, I'm sure there are a few more people who have installed Windows, including me.Almost no Windows user does it, though. Even if you go "but muh building my own computer", the people who do that are a tiny minority of computer users.
>>108821820I had to reinstall Windows 3 times now over the last few years:Win10 to Win11 failed, so reinstall to Win11. Confusing performance issues and tools like rustup update started blocking (?) -> reinstallDecided to reinstall with unattended with debloat at install. Shit like screenshots didn't even work so I just reinstalled (without debloat meme)It's bad. If you're willing to be probed in the ass by M$ and use an M$ online account, I'm sure it "works" by some deranged definition of it.
>>108821866this seems to only happen on windows iot enterprise LTSC after updates.before updates it doesn't show the message. so idk
>>108821722I don't understand why they still insist on El Torito to boot the iso. It's totally retarded because they use an NTFS ESP which is obviously not going to work and is retarded.
>>108821904Windows showed it to me on Windows 10 Enterprise at all times, because I did in fact change group policy. I don't know why an update would cause it to show up.Anyway, it's almost certainly group policy.
>>108821929yeah well i tried to check the group policies but nothing really seemed to have changed at least related to that page (windows backup). i have no clue why it happens. but i don't care enough to keep trying.
>>108821537kys
>>108821904>use meme SKU that isn't sold to consumers>weird meme issues happenI don't understand what you guys expect. Just install Win11 Pro, like a normal wage cuck. All the Ent+ SKUs are mostly a meme anyway, unless you actually planned on using it as a server.
>>108821943Well, what settings page is it that shows this message?
>>108821960windows 11 pro wouldn't work on this ancient hardware. i am trying to give a boomer a machine to edit excel sheets on.
>>108821973Accounts -> Windows backup
>>108821537what a shit bait
>>108821984Ok that might be a Microsoft thing, I don't think there's any reason to gpedit anything related to backups for a user. I don't know if there even are any group policies related to them, but I haven't used Windows for over a year.
works fine for memaybe you're a retarded faggot, ever think of that?
>>108821537I can't deal with the telemetry and constant chatter. I wouldn't mind using it if I could actually silence the damn thing
>>108821974>i am trying to give a boomer a machine to edit excel sheets on.real boomer excel
>>108821537>today i spent 30 hours awake trying to install and get this to work.>it didn't work.Stop trying to install pirated windows on an ancient piece of shit build? A licensed version installs itself seamlessly on compliant hardware. >in b4 I can't afford a PC from this decade or $30 because I'm a global southernerWe know since you already mentioned linux kek
>>108821722>but a few problems i had>first one is literally a linux problem
>>108823212Nobody installs "pirate" ISOs anymoreThe current method for getting an activated Windows for free is installing a genuine ISO then getting a genuine HWID activation for free with MAS (which has been open source and trusted for over half a decade now)
>>108821559>windows died at w8Windows 10 was great, stfu moron
>>108821722>Install meme edition meant for ATMs and display boards>Complain about lack of basic features
>>108821778>>108821808>but GNOME 3 literally had shit M$ only just added to their shit OS with Windows 11>thanks ebussy for saving gnome from turning into an unusable abominationGnomesissies, we need to make our shitposts more believable next time. How are we supposed to get our bottom surgeries if people stop supporting and donating to the Gnome project!
>>108823272Ok so just stop doing that and buy the license. lol
>>108821537im trying to set up a system for a new employee in my office and whenever this one system prints a pdf file it corrupts the image and the printer throws an error. Only with pdf files. Only on this system. Ive tried different drivers, different pdf readers, Ive re imaged it, put a different image on it, put generic windows iso installs on it. Truly fascinating nonsense
>>108823953>buy the licenseWhy would I do that when activating Windows for free with MAS gives the exact same end result as paying for it?MAS gives you a real genuine license for free
>>108821664>KDE
>>108823994Still breaking the law.
>>108821537>Put windows installer on a memory stick. >Boot PC from memory stick >Pay $5.00 for Windows proIt's pretty easy tbf.
