Has the computer science/software industry and field gotten more toxic over the years?
>>108826202There is no geek culture left. They replaced all the good coders with women and queers in the name of diversity. Then they replaced the women and queers with jeets in the name of diversity. Now they're replacing the jeets with AI trained on queer and jeet code. They never actually cared about diversity.
>>108826202No cute chicks and browns and bugs, gross.
>chinese bitch ExtraEmily on the left>Yagoo of Hololive is on the rightwhat
>>108826202>all chinksmore proof that "diversity" was more chink anti-white propaganda pushed on dumbfucks and hr women.
>>108826202It has gotten better. Now nerds and trans are ruined. We can use AI to create whatever we want
>>108826202the word toxic to describe anything but actual toxins is fairly new, so yes but what does it matter. Do you remember what people used to call it before? is it not still that?
>>108826212I agree with this. The entire IT sphere used to be filled with old guys who were passionate about their work, then younger dudes who were geeks got into it, so you had this atmosphere of older, seasoned veterans who were pretty chill mixed with goofball Gen X and Millennials. Then a few women got in the mix, which was fine, honestly. I've worked with some very competent women in IT, in fact my best mentor was a woman, we just kind of vibed on interests and humor. Then fucking Indians got in. The moment those fuckers invade a company, especially its leadership, is where the ship starts to sink really fast. Those posts about Izzat? The people who talk of their incompetence and nepotism? I thought it was lies. I was wrong. If it gets past a tipping point, just quiet quit and then leave.
>>108826503https://youtu.be/LOZuxwVk7TUtook well over a decade to catch on
just don't interact with asianssimple as
Let them be white brothers and come back to the countryside ,we'll shoot on sight when shtf
>>108826517>Then a few women got in the mix, which was fine, honestly. I've worked with some very competent women in IT, in fact my best mentor was a woman, we just kind of vibed on interests and humor.Anecdotal evidence override a generalization, anon. You accepting this, is the very problem to begin with.Men and women need seperated spaces of work.
>>108826710>>108826710>Anecdotal evidence doesn't override a generalization, anon.Missed a word.
>>108826517So much this.t. Xillenial
maybe I’ve been extraordinarily lucky but the asian guys I’ve worked with have all been cool
>>108826202>toxicfagword
>>108826202not bad, imagine jeets instead of asians.....oh wait....
>>108826212This is all true. Most companies actively consider true geeks a big red flag and will reject them no matter what kind of magic programming wizardry they have under their belt.
>>108826202How do all these foreigners from the third world afford going to Stanford and Harvard? Why are there all foreigners?
>>108827981Self-selected for the richest foreigners only. In the case of chinks, they aren't allowed to move more than $50k a year out of the country, but there's an exception for investments such as real estate. So what they do is buy up expensive properties and send their children to school to occupy the property for a while and help them move the money around.
>>108826517Jeets are the final blow in any career/jpb. People need to stop being afraid of being seen as racist and do the needful.>Remove Jeet>Remove Muslim>Remove Women if they cannot pass basic
And this is why Anthropic will win the AI war.
>>108830575Because they have worst-in-class researchers and nobody to make the infra and tools work well?
>>108826202If I had to spend my time like that, I’d be sick to my stomach. These are the kinds of people who go into the industry not because they love the crap they do, but because there’s endless money to be made. That’s why everything they produce is crap.
>>108831252And that's the only kind of people HR has been hiring since 2005ish.
Irregardless of who's at that table, am I the only one who hates social setups/dinners like these? It's a big group but you only get to speak to the 2 people next to you because it's so loud and you cannot scream across the table. Also the 2 people next to you inevitably will talk to the people to your right/left so you will just be sitting there awkwardly in the middle occasionally taking out your phone pretending you got texted
>>108831349depends on what happens before/aftermight not be too bad if there’s a lot of standing around and talking before dinner starts and afterwardsbut my hearing is kind of crap
>>108830722You would fit in so well.
>>108830575But what this image tells me is that the "AI race" is a race between Chinese researchers living in the USA and Chinese researchers living in China
>>108831620That explains why the models keep getting crappier and why there has been no scientific or technical improvements (only moar scael bullshit) since the attention is all you need paper.
>>108830575>top 5 [school]>CMURIP
>>108826229kek i thought it was yagoo tooarr rook same
>>108827207Sadly, management bought into the "don't hire geeks because they don't know how to explain themselves and make me feel like a retard" rhetoric. I know AI is all the craze right now, but the hottest trend before LLMs was """soft skills"""
>>108834597>>108827207On the other hand, if you’re so smart, why are you so inarticulate?seems like a skill issue
>>108834750always thought about this, does the world owe you social ergonomics if you can't even put in bare minimum effort for social skills?
>>108834750Geeks are NOT inarticulate, and colleagues typically greatly appreciate geeks, particularly quoting communication style, and really really dislike having to navigate around jocks. Managers are hit or miss, depends their background, but universally the managers who don't like geeks are awful people who can't manage shit and only steal credit every chance. In fact, the usual problem is that geeks say things honestly and how they are, as opposed to playing politics and lying, which is the preferred position they're now looking for.>>108834597It's a bit worse than that because they all apply what they call the beer test nowadays "I will only hire someone that I'd like to have a beer with". Therefore by definition nobody with technical competence or logical reasoning.
>>108827981>>108828165Some get full scholarships.
>>108826202I was going to ask "what does a bunch of random Ivy League cunts eating dinner have to do with the toxicity and tech?" and I thought to myself "probably a lot".The reason why you faggots keep being laid off is because you don't have strong unions, and company's get do whatever the hell they want with you. Swallow your Asperger's and unionize already, for fuck sakes.
>>108835167Anyone who isn't a jock has been kicked out of tech 20 years ago, jobless underaged retard.
>>108835253Ah yes, the humble Pajeet. The most masculine specimen known to man. The reason why he so dominates tech is due to his superb cunning, his superior wit and his testosterone powered vision for the future of tech. It has nothing to do with his willingness to work for pennies and labor laws that allow companies to boot out domestic workers to be replaced by the Pajeet.Unionize you spastic cunt.
>>108834836true thatat the same time, every single major advance "humanity" has achieved has been in the back of naive geeks and savant autists who never get recognition for it society doesn't owe you shit, so you don't owe shit to society either let the low iq monkeys wallow on their own feces
>>108835167Never thought about it but the relatively higher rates of anti-social/weirdo/Asperger's traits and symptoms of te CS field is probably a big reason they have never unionized en masse lol. Good obervation.
>>108835167Unions only benefit lazy workers.
>>108835357Not true at all. t. swede where all software engineers are unionized, as well as anyone else in the country. If anything it benefits hard workers more than anyone else. Hard workers in north american work cultures (I worked there over 10 years) are managed under the premise that the perfectly working wheel should not be replaced, meaning working hard means receiving more work and being denied promotions to avoid having to find a 'replacement' for you at your level. See also the concept of failing upward, which is unique to non-unionized, and particularly north american systems. Unions ensure that even hard workers must progress in their career and can't simply be slave-driven. They also ensure that hard workers aren't fired on the spot when they decide to only work 50 hours a week instead of their usual 80 the week after they got a raise they had been promised due to high performance denied "because the company is doing poorly this quarter" when everyone else got a 20% bump.
>>108827207I got lucky working for a company that has an IT department that's been led for years by true geek, self-taught, turbo autist. it's amazing, I don't think I would've ever gotten the shot I had in this career if it wasn't for them, I was definitely hired because they saw a little of themselves in me
>>108826212>Now they're replacing the jeets with AI trained on queer and jeet codeBased
>>108831349Maybe if you stopped using double negatives, you'd get a warmer reception.
>>108835357What does work ethic have to do with letting yourself be forcibly injected with experimental gene therapies?
>>108831349All this corposhit is soulless cult nonsense
The "serious" corposhit is pretty much as uninteresting as it always was. The problem is that the more idealistic side of the coin as in "hacker culture" or whatever has largely been infested by totally deranged people and turned to an abomination too.
