People aren’t actually falling for this shit, are they?
>>
>>108829639
They are, average /g/-tard and Redditor have zero technology knowledge.
>>
>people
>>
>>108829639
lol
lmao
>>108829653
this

genuinely the internet is as retarded as it's ever been and companies are not making it easier by putting in more pitfalls for normal users to fall into. They don't care. as long as they get your real name and ID to sell, you can get scammed by jeets all day
>>
Is this a boomer trap or a retard trap?
>>
I don't use windows. What does the windows key + R do? And what are they having you paste?
>>
>>108829824
There's noticeable overlap, so both.
>>
>>108829860
Run dialogue box, they are having you paste some command that either directly runs a malicious program from a remote server or downloads it and then runs it.
>>
>>108829639
It’s the same poors who fall for “just press alt+f4 to get free fps!” Poor people are stupid. That’s why they’re poor and rely on cheap shit like Windows.
>>
>>108829860
>windows key + R
the equivalent of running a terminal command
>what are they having you paste?
probably something with iwr (invoke-webrequest)
>>
>>108829639
too poor for mac; too dumb for linux
most windows users suffer from learned helplessness
>oh i have to do x, y, and z to use my computer?
>well, okay then
>>
>>108829639
You don't know boomers: They are incapable of following instructions on a screen EXCEPT when it's a scam
>>
honestly, this shit isn't new
back in the day you'd get USB sticks that you'd think are storage media but instead they'd be keyboards that hit Win+R and type shit
usually it's "harmless" in that they're programmed to open a webpage, as a marketing thing (can give them out at booths, everyone will grab one thinking you're giving free flash drives...) but nothing stopped them from being malicious
>>
>>108829639
Is this even a scam?

I remember jschan having that same method of captcha (not recaptcha, a jschan builtin one).
>>
>>108830078
Holy shit, you better be fucking asking that as a joke. If something has this method as a captcha they are 100% installing malware, There is no other reason to do this.

my friend fell for this years ago and lost a $2,000 NFT
>>
>>108829639
Oh they are.
>>
>>108830928
It's probably worth 15 cents now anyway.
>>
>>108829639
That's not real. And if it is real, it's not a big deal. And if it is a big deal, Windows users deserve it.
>>
>>108830976
>Be goncerned gubbemint
>Train brainlets to give up their real identity online
>They learn to do so as quickly as possible to get to the page they want
This won't end well
>>
I mean recaptcha now wants you to scan a QR code. just make a fake recaptcha with a QR code running some malware
>>
>>108829639
Yes. I actually had to do some "cybersecurity" training about phishing and brought up this specific example. People thought I was a genius.
>>
If there was no ReCraptcha botnet from the Goolag, and no similar things from Cloudfail etc., then people would pay more attention to popups like in the OP pic.
>>
>>108829639
people hand over tens of thousands of dollars of their savings in cash to complete strangers that claim to be the police
so yes, there are people falling for this with a big margin
>>
>>108829639
> are mouth breathing retards who live solely on mcdonalds falling for this shit?

uh, yeah.
>>
>>108829639
What I want to know is why the FUCK can you even access WAN shit from the fucking Run prompt
>>
>>108836172
why wouldn't you be able to?
>>
>the last sentence in this scam is in the imperative mood
That is so jeet-coded, it’s not even funny

I came across one of these early last year and saved the paste. I tried to post it as text but 4chan gave me the "Our system thinks your post is spam" error, so here it is as an image.
It seems to be a barely obfuscated command to download some file and run it with mshta.exe, then print a bogus "verification ID".

I hadn't noticed until now, but "reCAPTCHA" is also spelled using Cyrillic (Russian) letters for some reason. You can notice it in the first image by comparing the lowercase "r" to the one in "robot", but other than that the letters seem identical to their Latin (English) counterparts.

seems like it's reported here

According to that page, this malware is called "ClearFake". Here's a couple pages that explain it, and the different ways it's delivered:

Love how """infosec companies""" have to give every scam a BIG BAD SCARY NAME. This isn't just "fake captcha", it's CLEARFAKE CLICKFIX STRAWBERRY TEMPEST.
>>
>>108829639
If they make mead read rather than pick pictures to match, I'm not doing it.
Not because I won't, but because I can't.
>>
Considering Google is requiring you to scan your phone to pass people are already conditioned to extra steps to "pass" the captcha.
>>
>>108829824
Hate to think some day I'll be elderly and due to diminished intellectual capacity, won't know that UltraDroidOS 99k-dashingdragon sends all you bank details to the United African Federation if you do a confirmation sneeze.
