KDE just received 1,5 million, Steam Machine soon:tm: and now the Plasma Bigscreen! Perfect timing, modern "smart" TV's suck!

Will you install Plasma Bigscreen on your Raspberry Pi / mini pc / tv box, anon?

I don't care about these things as I got a custom router/modem that has 0 ADs/Telemetry/Trackers regardless of what I connect to the internet.

Very based, anon-senpai. But I need to connect my Andr*id TV to the Internet, in order to connect to my NAS for Jellyfin.. so a leight weight Loonix Distro would be perfect for that.

>go to watch something on tv
>it krashes while turning on
thanks kde
>>
That's cool, I hope it goes somewhere.
>>
>>108829947
it won't, it's arm only and the only x86 builds are Barbones and buggy
>>
>>108829750
If it can perform better than GoogleTV does on the standard chip smart tv's use then this is very good news
>>

android TV is open source, just remove Tue spyware
>>
>>108830094
I'm sure it is.
>>
Can I navigate it with the TV remote? Will it let me navigate desktop apps with a controller like how smart tvs let you dpad your way through menus and buttons?
I use my laptop on my tv but I need a mouse to interact with browsers. My TV lets me point my remote at it and navigate like a wiimote or spam the dpad to move around.

what ARM devices can run it?
last time I tried to flash a shitty tv box it bricked itself
>>
>>108829977
? it's in KDE neon which is x86 though?
>>
>>108830314
Yes, you can. This is touch, remote and controller friendly. You can even start fucking Steam on it, the real steam.
>>108830340
Any ARM chips that supports Gnu/Linux.
>>108830481
Yes, but this is now a core Plasma Desktop feature. You can enable/disable it. It will run on x86 and ARM, Steam Frame (arm) and Steam Machine (x86) will release soon, so this is perfect.

oh shit really? cool. might have to switch my bluray player laptop with a broken screen to plasma.

I think I'll disconnect my fucking "smart" TV from my network and hook up a Plasma mini pc / pi to it.
>>

it hasn't gone anywhere for 5+ years that it has existed
>>
>>108830523
>Yes, you can
CEC passthrough, dope. I checked and unfortunately the magic mouse thing LG does doesn't work over CEC. That sucks but it's not KDE's fault.
I think a steam deck would make a pretty damn good tv console with bigscreen. The steam machine is kinda too much unless you also need a new gaming pc.
>>
>>108829750
Absolutely as long as it isn't a resource hog
>>
>>108830573
>control via CEC
How does one even get CEC on a PC? That would be useful
>>
I hate qt, so no.
>>
>>108831132
But Anon, you are a qt...
>>
Does it force Wayland?
How bloated is it? - Does it require full KDE or can I put it under a different desktop environment?
Can I script an XMB interface?
>>
Don't call you thing the name of something completely different fucking faggots I though plasma tvs were coming back
>>
>>108829750
>talmudvision krashes
uhm, based?
>>
>>108833307
>Does it force Wayland?
of course it does, haven't you heard that KikeDE dropped xorg support and took a hard stance against xlibre? if you want this you better hope SonicDE backports it
>>
>>108829750
Because TVs deserve to Krash too.
>>
>TV krashed
WELL WELL WELL
>>
>>108829902
>FUCKING KRASHES
How do you know it krashes if you've never used it
>errrr
lol
>>
>>108829842
>But I need to connect my Andr*id TV to the Internet, in order to connect to my NAS
No you don't.
You just need a LAN connection.
