I cannot live without my foldable phone any more, so many people say it's a meme and that in order for the tech to see any widespread adoption it needs to function as well as a normal phone when closed but I really almost never have it closed when I do anything on it that isn't as basic as operating the music player and even for that I often open it.

The people who say the bigger screen doesn't matter seem to be using their phones for nothing more than watching videos because that's what they're always talking about when they make this argument, don't they like browse the internet or read some kind of text on their phone at times or something where the difference is huge?

What do you even use it for fag? Fuck off
>>
>>108830783
this is what capitalist consumer brainrot looks like
>>
>>108830783
>pays extra for a worse tablet and a worse phone
>has literally 0 usecase besides reading text (???)
Yeah man, lets all waste our time wondering why the market decided a useless device is useless.
>>
>>108830813
It's in the post, browsing the internet, reading books, video games, and such. It's obviously far better on a screen twice as big.

>>108831210
Anon, you can't put a tablet in your pocket. A tablet is a worse laptop is a worse desktop by that logic. It's about portability.
>>
>>108831313
>you can't put a tablet in your pocket
Yes lets take a tablet, shrink it down to a useless aspect ratio and size, make it extra fragile, and double the price all so it can fit in a pocket. Sacrifice any sort of value so I can uh.... read text and play mobile games slightly better...
>A tablet is a worse laptop is a worse desktop by that logic
Tablets, laptops and desktops have market share because the downsides of each are outweighed by the upsides. Folding phones have had a decade of iteration and improvement but STILL no market share because they don't add any real upsides missing on other devices. They're just toys and the userbase reflects that, only users I've seen are manchildren with no concept of value or actual children who's parents buy whatever they want.

Yeah, that turns out that's a real game changer that it can fit into a pocket. I don't really see people walk around with tablets under their arm much outside, do you?

That's just because the tech is sick expensive. Everyone would be having a foldable if they only cost 130% of the price of a normal phone with same specs.

The fact that your screen is twice as big is a huge upside obviously.

In any case, looking at it here, the global revenue of foldables is about 50 billion USD and of tablets about 100 billion so it's really not that bad in comparison.

I have one of these. Didn't want any major brand but because of telecom companies fucking up my country now has a whitelist system for mobile phones so couldn't import a OnePlus or similar.
Aside from standard Samsung complains around Knox and bloatware I love it and can't see myself going back, its fantastic for anything 4:3 and great for things like conferences.
The front screen is quite narrow and feels like a bit of a downgrade, but the benefits of the inner screen really do outweigh it.

Sour grapes lmao

There's no need to cope with your stupid spending, retard. Just use that ugly thing and get lost. You manchildren will always have buyer's remorse, so there's no need to come to 4chan.org to seek validation for your stupid purchase.

>Enjoy Samsung and google monitoring every aspect or your shit life, moron.

>>108830783
i loved my fold 4 til the inner screen just stopped working when i unfolded it. well, the screen was still working, but it just wasnt turning on. good thing i got extended money back warranty , could have swapped it for fold 6 or get my money back. just took the money and got an s25 edge instead.
it was cool, nice to have experienced it, but eh.
>>
>>108830783
i had a fold 3 once and it gave me the worst migraines i've ever experienced in my life if I used the inner display below 25% brightness for a couple minutes
it also developed screen problems on the outer display in the last few months of its warranty coverage lul

>>108830783
I have a 14.6 inch tablet if I need a bigger screen than a phone.

Enjoy outdoors like a real human being do. If you want to browse internet use PC inside your home

/g/ never approves of anything too good or expensive. you're supposed to stop at mid or mid+ tier in every domain. even buying garbage is very defensible if you didnt pay much. this was never going to be well-received on here.
>>
>>108834178
this. we are all coping poorfags, even though some of us have enough money for this and more.
>>
>>108830783
i’ll wait for the third or fourth gen version of the iphone ultra. until then ill keep rocking my 16 pro max
the tech ain’t there yet

>>
>>108834178
I don't need more. Simple as. I'm not constantly looking at my phone like an addict zoomer when I'm out so I don't need the latest fag phone with haptic smellometer or whatever the fuck they came up with recently.
>>
>>108835115
idk what need means here or why you assume he's constantly looking at his phone. i barely use a phone and just use an old handmedown my mother insists i have but i can still see the usecase/value of this thing
>>
do you feel this way about OLEDs or expensive headphones too? this is the thing that is actually very common on here which i find so fascinating. its like you think your preferences arent personal but objectively self-evident and therefore people who dont adhere to it are just plain wrong
>>
>>108833733
Hmm,I love the smell of no arguments in the morning.

>>108833876
Yeah had the same thing on my refurbished 4, just within the refurbish warrantee too so that was nice, I just got my full money back and got a refurbished 5 instead which when I bought it was cheaper than the refurbished 4 originally was so I made a profit on something breaking and getting something better back.

>>108834148
>Noooo, you're supposed to just look outside of the window in the train and do nothing at all because you're just SUPPOSED TO because that's what REAL HUMANS do.
A lack of imagination.

>>108834572
Which doesn't fit into your pocket once again.
>>
>>108830783
Lived with the flip 3 and it was nice. I can imagine a fold is ten times more useful. Just waiting for a cheaper option or one that doesn't butcher the camera quality. They are properly thin now and newer Chinese ones are near full flat, no more crease.
Just can't imagine the warranty with them is any good at all so it all comes down to samsung
>>
OP my dad is obsessed with these.
My answer is if you're using it as your main source of media consumption sure, you might want a bigger screen. Maybe a tablet is too big, that's the argument I get. But this is not the way I do consume shit. I don't need to use the browser enough for it to bother me to use vertically. Hell the web is practically fucking designed for phones at this point. I have a PC for what matters. If something, I'd like for phones to go back to being smaller, not bigger. I have a samsung S23 and my upgrade options there are not great.
>>
>>108830783
I think these could be extremely useful. But you'd know already, if it was for you.
>>
>>108830783
The only form factors that make sense to me are clamshells that fold to half the size of a normal phone, and tri-folds that open up to a full tablet.
A larger screen is nice for sure but the aspect ratio of the common folds can be awkward, and (as stated) provides no benefit to video.
If tri-folds ever become price competitive, and screen durability gets solved, I would get one. Otherwise, I'm sticking to a normal phone for small shit and a laptop/desktop for anything I care about.
>>
>>108838164
I pretty much never watch videos.
Reading websites or comic books on a standard phone is a pain, doing it on twice the screen real estate is not and that's a big plus, same for many video games.

MKBHD reviewing tablets in general is just weird, all he talks about is the benefit for videos this video that, like no one uses these things for anything but videos. Just doomscrolling Twitter alone works better with twice the screen.
>>
>>108830783
It is a meme but they're cool as shit. I also love the flip phones.
Problem is, I hate how they compromise on the cameras. I use the cameras on my pixel to take pictures and videos of my kids.
I used to own cool phones and the cameras were always dogshit. Give me a pixel fold with the pro series cameras and I'll pay 2k.
>>
Love my pixel 9 but it sucks being locked into pixels cause they're the only foldables ive found that are hassle-free when it comes to rooting. The find n6 is my dream phone on paper but im guessing its locked down to hell.
>>
>>108830783
I loved the mini-tablet screen, until it broke. I'm looking forward to when they fix the durability of the folding screen.
>>
>>108831605
I've rarely seen someone so little convincing. You're saying nothing of actual substance, only that it's "bad" and "useless" in four different ways with no explanation whatsoever.
Also talking about manchildren while praising the upsides of tablets is peak comedy.
