Yeah, Matrix is really annoying because it's designed in a way that's not efficient for server storage and technically because rooms are not linked to servers, if you have a bunch of public servers (spaces), you can make your own space with a bunch of rooms you want to keep your eyes on. discord does not have the infrastructure nor money to scan everyone's messages with AI, their moderation is nothing more than scanning image hashes against known CSAM and shock sites and acting on reports, both things that can get abused quite easily
