Has KDE improved at least a tiny weeny bit since then?
>>108838723you need to add this to your .bashrc:alias fuckyou='plasmashell --replace >/dev/null 2>&1 & disown'and then it's fine. It's still shit but it is the best shit we have for linux desktop.
>>108838723No, Kdrones are either liars or so used to buggy software that they don't even notice.
>>108838723>vm>llvmpipeWhy are footfags so disingenuous?
>>108838723Has boxes?
>>108838723>5.20That's ancient by now. I'd say Plasma 5 got pretty good by 5.24, it was genuinely a very polished desktop by 5.27. The Plasma 6 release was a shit show though, I'd say it's gotten very close to 5.24-5.27 over these past few years but it's not quite there yet.
the bugs are part of the experience of using KDE.
>>108838723I went back to it this week, crashed within the first day. posted a screenshot of it here and one of the first replies said I got it onlineso no, plus the community only got worse and more shill-y over the years
>>108838723>5 and a half year old shit from a vm
>>108838723I was wondering this too but I tried niri with dank (terrible name) and I'm just going to stay here a while. Was using sway but not being able to screen share individual windows was a problem. Dank shell has all the clicky stuff I need from gnome, no need to rice.
>>108839844Everything sucks.
>>108839895Reminds me I need to test out Budgie. KDE and GNOME just aren’t for me.
>>108839921I'm on fedora and I don't mind gnome, I keep it as a simple fallback in case my riding fails me and I can't into an interview or something but it's not for me either. Too many clicks to do anything and endless alt tabbing. No flow. Still better than KDE imo. Pretty impressed with how much dank has done actually and niri is an interesting workflow, but I have to adjust a bit and see if it really works for me.
>>108839895quickshell configs are pretty much the way to go nowadays>>108839921budgie is cool but they only support wlroots compositors for now (in essence just labwc) and it felt pretty jank using it. curious to see what it'd be with something like kwin
You can very easily avoid all bugs associated with DEs by not using DEs
not one fucking bit
plasma 6 is absolutely fantastic. haven't had any real problems with it since I switched to it in 2024
>>108839844Your image had a Unix timestamp dated to June 15 2025 (GMT). You'd done very little to convince people you weren't a troll, especially when your thread devolved into a shitshow.
>>108838723KDE is the ugliest desktop to ever be invented. Nothing can fix it. The last good KDE was 3.5.
>>108838723I was getting crashes from the on-screen keyboard, which is weird as I don't have a touchscreen. It didn't do anything besides show an error message but I disabled the keyboard and its been great ever since.I've had some bugs on Fedora but none related to KDE specifically (about 9 months using Fedora full-time).
>>108838723>gnomies are now just admitting the biggest issue they can find in KDE is in a laggy VMs in an ANCIENT version
There's a good reason the Steam Deck comes with KDE and has no feet fetish DE

>>108844291True, but we also shouldn't move back to 1980s idiocy with feetfag DE where essential features are only behind keyboard combos and where basic features are missing.UX testing for gnome devs is "I talked about it with a handful other devs and we all told each other how nice it looks and how great our software is, and when other people complained about it on our bug tracker we banned them"
>>108844358>essential features are only behind keyboard combos and where basic features are missingSuch as?
>>108843061>me when I make shit upYour new image has a UNIX timestamp dated to September 8 last year. I get that you're probably using a userscript or something to upload files with random names, but the average user perusing your thread can neither prove nor disprove this, meaning that accusations of reuploads will automatically gain currency.

usecase for krash?
I know most of you hate GNOME, but I actually enjoy it and I think the whole ebussy shit is kinda funny. The only thing that pissed me off recently: Ebussy admitted that he's using iOS, like are you fucking kidding me? Just like when Linus said he doesn't care about privacy and "do people really put things on their server, I thought everybody is using the cloud"Like wtf... Stallman, please save us.There is a reason why GNOME is the only DE on Ubuntu Pro, RHEL and SLES btw.
>>108844936>Ubuntu Pro, RHEL and SLESjust don't look up how they get used in real life and what for.
>>108844936>Ebussy admitted that he's using iOS, like are you fucking kidding me?In what way does that contradict his desktop? What makes you think a phone choice is a metric?
>>108844711You can also just double-click on the path in Nautilus. No keyboard shortcuts required.Cool 4channel screenshot, but how about you actually try out the software yourself before criticizing it?
>>108844936>Ebussy admitted that he's using iOSSo? Android is nearly the same.
>>108844949>just don't look up how they get used in real life and what for. You're not important enough to defer your own arguments to other people. Actually say what you mean or stop posting.
>>108844936gnome is a copy of ios. you are using an de made for phones that got adapted to the desktop. you are using ios too.
>>108845044i worked for companies that have those for certain systems installed. they use them like servers but with a gui in vms. that it. this is what gnome gets used for. it's just a gui to open up another tool that runs on the server. that is it.
>>108844949>just don't look up how they get used in real life and what for.I know it's mostly headless for servers, but there are still workstations running GNOME.>>108845013>In what way does that contradict his desktop? What makes you think a phone choice is a metric?Mainly because of the FOSS philosophy, but everyone knows that GNOME loves the mac aesthetic, just like BSD fucks. The GSConnect extension (KDE connect for GNOME) still isn't a normal feature on GNOME, I wonder why... android.
>>108845065That's arguably 99% of desktop machines as well.
>>108845047I unironically think "classic" computing and desktop navigation (Windows, KDE, XFCE etc.) will die soon... I don't mind KDE Plasma, just be realistic. Most Apps are developed for the Web/Phone first. Something like a tiling window manager is actually closer to how the majority uses apps, than a traditional desktop.Enjoy it, while it lasts.
>>108845116>die soonNo. There's too many people interested in keeping this to let it fade.
>>108845116Ironically, GNOME is closer to your typical tiling window manager workflow than it is to a traditional WIMP desktop environment.
>>108845114not really. those systems just sit idle and run a regular service or two on them. that is all. they may have a webui or regular gui to manage and configure it on the system installed. that is it. that is not a workstation. it's just a server with a gui.
>>108845139>No. There's too many people interested in keeping this to let it fade.Windows 8 tried it in 2012. Google just fused Android and ChromeOS and iOS and Mac were already close. At least there will always be Linux keeping it alive.>>108845143True. People switch their tasks with gestures or shortcuts instead of minimizing and multi windowing.
