Why is nobody making new low profile gpus?
>>108841283they make liquid cooling sinks
Low profile and Single slot, otherwise there are useless for Dell or HP pre-buildts.Some chinese brands do some from time to but often with outdated GPU or limited release by Zotac and others.
Integrated GPUs do 98% of what normies want, assuming they own anything other than their smartphones anyway.
>>108841283Usecase?Integrated graphics is pretty good now so I honestly don't see why anyone would need a dedicated graphics card in a low profile case.PCIe riser cables are also a thing and even very compact cases can usually fit full height graphics cards.
>>108841283they do
>>108841283>Instant E-WasteWhy would you bother buying anything but a 5090?
>>108843207>source: my ass
>>108841283Nobody makes sub-75W GPUs anymore so what's the point of them if you can't shove into anything with a tiny power supply.
It's called ebay
iGPU or eGPU or dGPU
>>108843293He's right though
>>108841283Sparkle did, but they're out of stock, they had fan control issues, Intel didn't release a B310, so we're SOL on nice low profile GPU's for transcoding and whatnot. Arc is really good for that.
>>108841283Intel is you fucking liar
>>108841283They still do. Most newer GPUs need more power than the PCIe slot can provide though lol
>>108844329The 3050 6GB is exactly this and runs off the PCIe slot. But on the other hand it is a 3050 6GB which isn't great, maybe we'll get better low-power compact GPUs someday.
I have a LP 4060 and I think there is LP 5060 out there too
>>108848353Yeah, but there's been 2 generations since then, with nothing ~75W from Nvidia, at least on the consumer side. Also, look at this little chubster.
>>108849186What difference does the "Pro" make? Can I still play old vidya on this?
>>108841283Obsoleted by iGPUs which are the lowest profile GPUs possible.
The same reason no one is building cheap homes anymore, profit margins. The amount of raw material used to make a 5090 and a 5050 is negligible in difference and both are made by the same manufacturing equipment. One is a couple hundred bucks and the other costs a small fortune. The guy buying one 5050 is shopping around because he's broke or he would get something better than a 5050, the guy buying the 5090 has enough money to buy three more because the 5090 is like 3000 dollars.
>>108841283Because the iGPU on a 8600G is already nearly on their level.
>>108841283After spending a few dayslooking for something to put in my diy nasI concluded that smarter option would have beento get a case without such a problem.
>>108852488you make a good point, except low profile does not equal cheap
>>108843222chat is this good?
>>108841283Arc 310 had one, have it in my home server for video encoding
>>108843207This. If you’re buying a SFF machine you don’t gaf about graphics. T have an sff machine
>>108853682>Arc 310>home serverDo you get it to do any security camera stuff ?
>>108841283I'll do it tomorrow, quit hassling me
>>108841283They don't have to. He who makes the case big enough for the latest shit card gets the money
>>108853613No.>>108843222The 5050 is more like a 5030. Pathetic GPU that should not exist. Probably okay for a HTPC build where you want a GPU for video decoding and that's it, except doesn't really make sense even here if you have an Intel/AMD iGPU/APU. It only makes sense if you want newer codec support than what they offer or if you went with a CPU that doesn't have an iGPU for some dumb reason.
>>108853898It's more like mini iTX builds are niche as fuck. People would buy them more if they had the option to.
>>108843222>>108853613either give me a small 70W gpu that can run off the PCIe and be fanless, or something more powerful. i don't see the appeal for this weird in-between spec that doesn't really excel at anything.
I think I saw a low profile 9060 XT.>>108853909You can get a low profile 5060 too.
Thinking about putting an RX6400 into my Thinkcentre M720q so I can bring it to lan parties
>>108856166>70W>fanlessMore like 10-15w.Less if there's no case airflow.
>>108856338Cute attempt at gaslighting me, but my 75W fanless GTX 1650 runs completely fine at full load with only case intakes, and completely fine at low-medium load with no case airflow whatsoever.
>>108841283why do you need small gpu if igpu is powerfull enough even for gaming now?
>>108856497It's for people that like to build hilariously mismatched PC's by putting a power hungry chip without an iGPU in their PC and then go "Well shit, I need a GPU now".
>>108856497I like the GPU to have its own memory rather than rely on system RAM, the option of being able to swap out the GPU (for quick troubleshooting) or the CPU individually for whatever reason, the fact that your CPU choices are not gonna be limited by whatever models come with iGPUs (more powerful CPUs generally don't have iGPUs), have 2 moderately (and independently) warm components in my case rather than 1 very hot one, etc.
>>108856584>"Well shit, I need a GPU now"This happened to me when I repurposed my old rig into a server and realised that Haswell by design doesn't POST without a fucking GPU. so I got picrel.
>>108856404>75W>fanless>runs completely fine>only case intakesJust looked up the GTX 1650 KalmX.It's pretty impressive.https://www.techpowerup.com/review/palit-geforce-gtx-1650-kalmx/27.htmlClocks only dropping by 1/6 if no a case fan running.https://www.igorslab.de/en/palit-gtx-1650-kalmx-4gb-review-when-and-how-good-works-passive-cooling-really-laboratory-test/5/On the other hand it needs twice the clearance height of a low profile card (138mm vs 70mm).And it's 2-slot instead of single slot.
>>108856643I can play older vidya with no fans spinning at all. More demanding vidya needs those intakes turned on, otherwise shit begins to stutter like crazy.>And it's 2-slot instead of single slot. There's almost no single slot cards out there anyway. Besides, mine is a deshrouded Asus, which could potentially be turned into a single slot card if you can find a replacement single bracket or cut the existing one in half. The heatsink is slightly too thick to be 1slot, but you might be able to get away with it in some scenarios.
>>108856676You can get a single slot 5070 or 5060ti 16gb these days. There was a single slot 4070 too.
>want to make smol nas>buy nice smol nas case>single-slot cards? there are a few.>low-profile cards? fewer options.>cards this smol nas case can take: single-slow + low-profile.Nvidia t1000 (Turing).RTX a1000 (Ampere).PNY 2000e (Ada).Next time I'll pick a different case.
>>108856725that's a double slot card
>>108856735>Next time I'll pick a different case.Next time decide on what components you need before buying a case.
>>108841283NVIDIA makes plenty of them as workstation GPU.That will be $10000
