First i noticed that i was not able to utilize as much ram in stressapptest as i could with the standard arch repos and kernel (was true both for linux-cachyos and linux-cachyos-bore).

Later (when i tried it again) nvidia-open stopped working so i had to switch over to nvidia (for RTX 3090) but the issue with being unable to utilize ram properly may have disappeared (at least for linux-cachyos-bore).

Arch Linux with all testing repos enabled: everything just works.

Arch just works.
More news at 11.

It's almost like all derivative distros suck, with no exceptions
>>
so you've bungled whatever chimera you were trying to build there?

If anything you will have better luck just using their kernel but it's a bit annoying having to install their version of pacman before you can install V3/V4 versions of their kernel.

works on my machine

I used Endeavour for a laptop and seemed fine at first but then i ran into some issues due to them having stuff from the AUR preinstalled which caused some issues later (i removed most/all of that stuff later).

you can install their kernel from the aur, someone from cachy maintains the pkgbuild

None of the derivative distros do anything to fix the actual shortcomings arch still have.

You are not really getting anything extra via their repositories (if they have any).

You are also not getting anything worthwhile in terms of extra security (SELinux, apparmor, etc).

That's the regular version without the CPU specific 'optimizations' (not sure if it makes any real difference though).

CachyOS runs better on older hardware. I have it on an old Fujitsu tablet because windows 10 chokes it out and w11 is simply unusable. Nothing bad or annoying to report. Werks as expected here.

I might try their kernel later. Switched back to arch mostly to get version 7.08

your own fault, stick with windows.

I'm just stopping here to say "Aww"

Too bad I can't upvote it

It works fine with vanilla Arch Linux though.

i have a laptop with Nvidia running Ubuntu. zero issues

I did grab linux-cachyos-7.0.8-1 and linux-cachyos-headers-7.0.8-1 recently but i don't feel like testing it again. Maybe later.
