Been living under a rock, why do people nowadays include plants and lightbulbs in pictures of their computers?
Same goes for funkopops and stickers and books and rainbows and such.
What is this mental illness?
>>
Like what is this?

it's to prove you have disposable income
the empty boxes are to prove you're not a filthy poorfag who buys second hand

Congratulations you maxed out the cringe level!
>>

non-autistic people like to have plants and ornaments in their rooms
>>

Plants and dynamic lighting are inherently pleasing to most people and more visually interesting than a plain shot of a pc by itself
>>
>plants
Makes a picture of technology less sterile and feel more organic.
>lightbulb
Provides a nice secondary light, and if it's warm light it softens a harsh subject.
>empty boxes
A quick way to visually show you what is inside the machine. I don't think it's to prove you bought new because most secondhand parts come with the box anyway, in my experience.
>funko pops, stickers
Make the image more interesting than just a black cuboid, but they have poor taste so they use uninteresting objects.
>books
Same as above but with more taste depending on the books. Perhaps showing their relevant interests as well in the photo.

cargo cult aesthetics

firemen ny started it the photographed carage with lightbulb on roof and claimed same bulb been there over 110 years or so

Partly because it might suggest what the server is being used for, but mostly because a picture of a computer without any dressing is boring. It's just a picture of a case, or maybe a picture of a rack. People post these images on social media usually, so they are trying to share some of their personality with other people.
If you don't care about what the PC is being used for, or who is using it, how are you getting anything other than just seeing a picture of the case?
It can still be cringe to post pictures of computers on social media in the first place (and it very often is pointless and dull), but if you've already accepted the premise of posting a picture of a computer at all, all the rest of this becomes valid as well.

the plant meme irritates me because having plants in your home is a great way to attract bugs if you live in a shithole (florida) like me. and if you have cats they will endlessly fuck with it and chew on the leaves like retards

This here is the peak of pictures of computers. No unnecessary stuff shown, no glass because seeing the parts is needlessly expressive. I just need it confirmed for me that the computer we are talking about (or rather NOT talking about, because we have this lovely picture) is indeed a black cuboid. This needed a photo to convery what this is like, but it didn't need anything else.
>>
>>108847415
god i want a case that looks like that but im not paying extra just for shit airflow.
>>
>>108845370
it stems from a sense of anxiety where they overshare in hopes that others will be more understanding and accepting of them.
>notice me, senpai
but unironic.

It's got great airflow

I'm ok with that too. This

is as close as I could get with airflow and an optical drive also see pic related (ulta nonstandard) but the aesthetic you are after

In the 70s-90s this was very common. It's just zoomers trying to find sovl

My new computer case. Whaddaya think?

it’s a shit pic because it doesn’t show any buttons
I want to see button layout and placement
>>108844004
I don’t think it’s necessary in that pic, but I have a bunch of *very* stiff Ethernet cables and I have to put something like https://www.amazon.com/Harinacs-Stapleless-Desktop-Stapler-SLN-MS112D/dp/B0074ZTPFA/ on top of my switch

I like the Pop series, but I wouldn't shove anything power hungry into the Silent.
>>
>>108847415
Incredibly based take. That's how I've approached all of my computers since I started using Fractal over a decade ago.
Just black obelisks. I don't want glass nor LED rainbow vomit. My PC is like a sleeper car on the road. It isn't showy but it can blow anything else out of the water.

Checked and it's all advertising memery (the design is very human).
btw rate my ventilation for a 14th gen Intel I7, I like how toasty my room gets but sometimes the aio fan spins high and makes gurgling noises

I think cases should be thinner and taller, like big panels. Something like wall mounted builds.
I'll never understand people obsessed with miniITX builds that end up being cubes on top of their desks. Horizontal space is more limited. Their shit actually takes more space than a standard case.

Cargo cult hylics trying to mimick having a SOVL. They see my rig, think "PC + plant + light" but fail to see that the sums is greater than its parts.
>>
>>108844124
this. normies are just like this, it probably helps them become popular.
It's cringe to us, but probably objectively useful

>Top I/O isn't functional without an upgrade kit
absolutely PROTESTANT rent-seeking boomer behaviour. have everyone at Fractal killed
>>
Because these things are already in my room. Maybe not the rainbows and funko shit, but having a plant in your room and a lamp is not exactly wild behaviour.
Now why are these in PC photos? Makes it look less sterile I guess. Realistically if you want a photo of my rig you're getting a background shot of my printer and my camera gear because I aint moving all that shit just to take a rig photo unless I'm specifically selling it.
>>
>>108844000
Because theyre massive faggots. I have a new PC and to this day the only time size panels and shit go on it is when i have to move it. Otherwise it looks like on of this computer tower models from half life 2 garrys mod.
My case is 20 years old. Why change it?
My battlesration is better than glfaghots like this because they dont do fuckall but fame with their pcs

Why are you looking on social media when it sounds like what you want is a product manual?
