Which is better for ergonomics?
>TKL or smaller where mouse is closer to a neutral position
>"ergonomic" keyboard with huge space in the middle, but mouse is farther out since it's as larger or larger than a regular 100%

Quite a while ago there was the usual debate about having or not the numpad on a keyboard. There were numerous examples of how useful the numpad is especially in workplaces and one anon said a sentence like this "Only blue collar workers need the numpad. CEOs don't need that".
I have a blue collar job and I use the numpad a lot, and every god damn day that very sentence comes back in my mind. Every. Fucking. Day.
Using the number row doesn't make me feel better.

also look into their weight, front height, typing angle degree, and internal/external design (if you have any particular preferences for the overall design)
ideally you'll want something that's shorter at the front and longer at the back to create a natural typing angle instead of a literal block that's the same height on both ends, which sucks for your typing posture and comfort
thankfully most boards aren't like that but some are (Monsgeek) so they're best avoided.

>>
>>108848654
Have you ever tried a low profile keyboard? You might be able to get the same speed as on a thinkpad since the keys are flush and flat in a similar way.
>>
People mistakenly think that "PBT" caps don't wear or become shiny. The reality of course is that all keycaps do. It's just plastic, and you're constantly polishing them with your fingertips over weeks, months and years of constant use. No plastic can withstand that... nothing can... plastic, metal, ceramic.... you name it, your fingers will polish it. Anyone who insists that you can't shine PBT caps just hasn't used them for long enough yet.
>>
>>108848757
Ackchully the keycaps polish our finger skin, that is what wears out instead.
>>
>>108848757
No one says PBT will never shine, just that it takes much, much longer than ABS.

>>108848779

>>108848787

not really
the ABS/POM blended caps just use it for the legends if they're double shot
no one except GMK and Leopold makes 100% double shot PBT
dye sub doesn't have to deal with this
>>
>>108848421
Breddy gud keyboard for the price and has probably the best resonant plastic case you can buy. Comes with good plate-mounted stabilizers and good quality low-profile SA keycaps (DSA or similar?) if you buy the IBM, Xbox, NES or Famicom versions, and what seem to be off-the-shelf SA keycaps for the Commodore 64 version.

The full-size has better quality keycaps than the TKL and numpad, FYI. Recommend buying it anyways because the numpad, while pretty cool and magnetically attaches to the right side of the keyboard on the IBM, Xbox and C64 versions, the NES and FC versions don't do that by default (the numpads have magnets in them, the TKLs don't), and you can't connect a keyboard and numpad to the same receiver, so they're gonna hog two USB ports if you try to put them together no matter what.
>>
if i find something i want ill rather pay 250 for a set than 5x 50 for some garbage just sitting in the wardrobe
>>
>>108848817
chuck those caps and load it with Clickiez on ABS for a thumping good time
>>
>>108848794
Why would you use more than one profile and not use the ultimate profile?
>>
>>108848810
No, as in ABS is literally mixed in with the PBT. Back before MTNU was available such a mixture was tested as a possibility for the type of plastic to be used for the profile. Ultimately pure PBT was chosen over this mixture. The cheap "PBT" caps out there aren't pure PBT.
>>
>>108848698
I'll definitely try low profile if I get a new keyboard (and tactile as well, maybe linear just isn't great for typing)
>>
I'm far more concerned with colour, and the actual quality of the legends themselves, which are still unsurpassed for double shot.
Which is why SWG wins over GMK. Just look at the sharp legends on SWG Beige on the right. The other one is GMK Lime.

Kinda mediocre in personal experience with GMK DMG. They feel brittle despite not being so and Chinese clones of their own keycaps tend to have sharper legends. Would only recommend them if you *must* have a colorway and it's not possible to get it otherwise.

>>
>>108848654
Of course. You're not going to see serious gains unless you go split ortholinear or whatever meme layout fits your style. The main point is feel (why not enjoy typing when you do it so often). Also that mechanical keyboards are infinitely more customizable, replaceable, easy to clean, robust, etc. I'm a fan of high quality membrane keyboards, but it is annoying how if they get dirty they're basically fucked. Also if you want to try a new layout or rebind a key you can't physically change it.

I just want a TKL with the Enter key still at the very right. I think it's the only reason I won't go TKL because I can just tap the enter key with my right hand when using the mouse. I bought a TKL for work and the number of times I try to palm enter with my right hand is too high.

You do realize the little finger on right hands is opposite the side of the enter key when using a mouse? The point is to be able to hit enter with my right hand while still close to the mouse. There's a lot of stuff where I can type or macro with my left hand but the enter key is required to complete, which means either reaching all the way to the middle of the keyboard with my left or right hand instead of just tapping with my right quickly.

Jelly. What color and layout?
>>
>>108854141
Yeah no shit. ABS takes a while to get that bad too. Is this really your retort? "Well if I define shining as EXTREME shine, then that takes years"

You can see the signs of shine starting after a month with a PBT set. No, it doesn't look like a well-used ABS set after six months. What point is that supposed to be making?
>>
>>108854824
It takes months for ABS to get that shiny. It takes PBT years to get that shiny. Cope harder.
>>

You said that PBT takes years "to shine". Not "to shine as bad as the worst ABS set I can find on google images". In response to someone who said, uncontroversially, that PBT caps do in fact develop shine.

You are a fucking liar who is backtracking hard while pretending your position hasn't changed. Humiliating. You're done.

Listed as "Regular Gray" in the shipping information which I'm assuming means Silver Gray on this example. I originally got it in Industrial Gray, but it turned out there was an additional several months' wait if I wanted that color (order fulfillment in shipping batch 2) so I asked for a change and got one at his own suggestion.

What if we just used sandpaper on our keycaps to restore the roughness?
>>

Sandblasting gets you a much more even result. Here's the deskthority thread that has info on what kind of sand blasting medium you should use, etc.

That said sand blasting does remove material, but then so does the wear process that makes the keycap shiny in the first place. No free lunches.

That's dope. Hopefully I'll have some money to get one myself before the project ends, though I think Joe likes the challenges of manufacturing these so I don't think it'll end that soon. Started shipping in 2019, we're on 2026 and he's still putting in work to deliver shit like the WoB pad printed keycaps.

Still eagerly awaiting for my F122 to ship, but y'know, one man project and all that.

If you haven't seen it yet, he had a talk about how the project came to be and how much work it took to reproduce Model F's in China. It's a really interesting listen, and also impressive how this one stubborn pedantic New Yorker took it upon himself to do all this shit.

Seeing all the WASD's worn down reminds me I really need to play more FPS games again.
>>
>>108856576
there is nothing worth playing
even casual brofests are impossibe with how badly SBMM fucks up lobbies
I lost all my regular friends over the years because of it
I haven't played more than 3 times this whole year either

>buy blank keycaps
>swap them out whenever WASD gets worn down
donut steel idea
>>

or just use grip tape on your WASDs like how you tape up your mouse
helps with the sweaty game sessions too

Need help I'm using an old ducky 65% keyboard and the win/alt swapped for no reason. I do not know if the FN is working.
Alt = Win
Win = Alt
FN = I do not know
I have tried the following. FN+ESC, Win+ESC, Alt+ESC. Nothing.
I did press Fn+D but all it did was turn off the lights of the keyboard.
Also when I try pressing Fn+5 it does not refresh the webpage leading me to believe that Fn is dead or is currently locked out.

That's what I am saying FN is not working at all. I have tried all the FN commands there and none of it is working except for one. FN+ESC gives this `. That's it. But holding FN+ESC does nothing at all. It does not get the caps lock blinking etc.
>>
>>108856761
happens all the time
just download the JSON and reset it manually
>>
or just force a reset to the PCB if you poke those reset pins
idk if yours has them, so take a look under the hood if you can't reset it via VIA
