Well, if the choice of language didn't matter, why the FUCK is still advertised in the title?
If it didn't matter, we would be judging the project for what it actually does. And in this case, since it's just more of the same and has nothing making it stand out besides "I made it in Rust", it should get no attention.
In reality, people treat Rust as an investment,, they think pressing upvote on anything that says Rust will increase the value of that investment. That's why I call them shameless shills. They don't really care what the project actually does. Their selfish behavior really poisons the well.

What's wrong with webp? If you're archiving personal images and want maximum compression with only 0.1% quality loss, JXL is perfect for that. For sharing images over the internet, Webp seems like a perfect middleground between that and JPG. It's not as good as JXL obviously but it makes up for it by being perfectly compatible with like 99% of computers/phones on the entire planet.

4chan should at least have switched from JPG thumbnails to Webp thumbnails by now.

>Big Famous Guy
He's wrong because he doesn't take into account dependencies or the ecosystem. You're still going to use Javascript for web development, Python for ML, C/C++ for game development, etc. Rust doesn't really have a foot into anything and having to write wrappers or its own dependencies for everything will hold the AI back.
So, with AI, you just use the most popular thing for your use case and you don't think much about it, just follow the path of least resistance. Rust is niche so it just never fits into anything.
>>
>>108846840
a lot of his programs don't have dependencies beyond the language in question’s standard library

No it isn't. Please compress picrel with lossless JXL compression to less than 177KB, which is what lossless Webp achieved via
cwebp -lossless -z 9 -m 6 -q 100

https://files.catbox.moe/ilk7zu.webp

The lossless webp achieved about 60% lower filesize over picrel PNG, how is that "kind of better" and "quite minimal" you dumbfuck?

That's not what I mean. What I mean is giving it a syntax like
<tool>
<tool_name>...</tool_name>
<tool_params>...</tool_params>
</tool>
as a user message and asking it to embed those in the normal text of assistant messages.
I was thinking of using a setup like that to abuse Kimi's web chat for vibecoding purposes. For ChatGPT it's not required since it lets you configure MCP servers which are called through the native (channel/chat template supported) interface.
But I had a custom assistant that started out with the tool call as assistant message text pattern from when local models didn't have tool calling support in the chat template, and it worked badly with GPT.

fell for the claude code meme on a whim and started making a local anime hub/tracker for my personal use. Been working on it for three days and it's already mostly usable, it uses the anilist api to get anime info, can easily hit play on an episode to search nyaa>send to qbittorrent>play on mpv (can just "stream" or store file), detect and import files I already had at local storage, etc. I know this is a generic idea but as a useless NEET I'm finding it this project to be really satisfying.

I have no idea what I'm doing though and am just working one feature at a time then bug reporting/adjusting. Just blew my 5 hour window in 2 prompts so I have time, I suspect it was because Opus 4.7 reached the context limit and started compressing it all. Maybe I should use this time to learn how to actually use claude code.
>>
>>108849121
The stream doesn’t store the file?

>>108849277
it does store temporarily. I say "stream" because it downloads sequentially and starts playing immediately without waiting for the download to end, then automatically deletes the file when mpv is closed.

What is this, are you using vigem driver or something? I made a simple keyboard + mouse to controller remapper year or two ago, and it works well, except I could not block the keyboard/mouse output and that would confuse some games.

Instead of writing code, I now write thousands of lines of prompts and .md files per day. But instead of having determinism, linters, compilers, linkers, static checks and so on, I have nothing to check whether my .md files are good. We have already added lychee to check for broken links in the docs because there were thousands. The documentation is already more complex than the code and we will be adding more tooling to make it work even just reasonable well. At this point it would be easier to just write code.

Sometimes I'll give a really good answer to Claude and feel a little disappointed when it doesn't say "that's a really smart choice because..."

Do I press on or just hope for UBI?

Rookie mistake. Get a phase done and clear context. Preferably before 50%.
>>
I vibe coded a deployment on my server with docker to monitor Gencon for spots that open up :)
It couldn't figure out how to deal with some issue of the cookie not transferring over to when it checked on ticket count being available, so it has to deploy a chromium instance, but my sever has enough ram to spare so 500-600mb or so isn't that big of a deal.

I'm sure there's an easier way to do it but who knows, it's only for a few months. Have it checking like 90 records once every twenty minutes or so. Seems like a good spot

slopping out of my mind right now. when I merge this branch its over. Should have never reset my tokens, I went overboard.

Absolutely based. Completely retarded workflow, however. Mirin' your token game though.

Alright I think this is good enough for a 1.0 release, pretty satisfied with what I have even if it's not as reactive as I'd like.

Could be a few reasons. Are you using a bad model? Are you doing too much at once and causing context rot? Do you do any planning and reviewing with the agents?
>>
>>108855421
As long as you have the general idea of what you'd like to accomplish, the clanker can get you there.

>>108855468
>pls no more prompts, anon

>>108855421
Are you giving it any specifications at all, or just telling it "Write Unreal Engine 9, make no mistakes?
>>
>>108855421
Prob not explaining how you want it done in enough detail. At least get a summary of his code changes and read those so you can tell him it's trash and what you really meant.
>>
>>108855621
I haven't had much success trying to rub the robot's nose it its own mess like it's cat so far. Has seemed more effective to just back it up and be more specific that try and recover with fuckups in the context.

I mean I created a decent spec level with Claude chat and provided it to I believe it was Kimi or GLM. I use opencode right now.
I'm trying to build a photo tagging app with tauri + small 2B vision model.
There probably isn't enough training data with that stuff so probably why it shat the bed.

I can't afford/justify paying for more than a claude pro subscription but I want to slop to my hearts content. Where does my poorfag neet ass go from here? I can get a codex trial this month but this is a short term solution
>>
>>108856410
switch from claude for one. it's the worst in terms of quota
google's showing off new gemini today and 3.5 flash is probably going to be the best value model for a month or two. test with free quota first and wait a couple of days to see impressions come in.
immediate alternative is codex running 5.3 / 5.5 low/no-thinking. 5.6 + 5.6 mini might be dropping very soon as well.
>>
>>108856410
Are you planning on making anything huge or are these simple projects? If it's anything remotely complex, your only options are Codex and Claude right now depending on what Google shows off tomorrow.
>>
>>108856471
>>108856578
ty for the info about gemini, I hope it turns out to be good. I probably should shill a bit, it's very likely I won't be hitting token limits after the first few weeks of excitement
