is this still peak case design or have they improved.
>>
>>108847067
They greatly improved by getting rid of the airflow blocking drive bays.
>>
>>108847078
fuck off that is not an improvement that is a cost cutting measure.
>>
>>108847067
newer versions of this design don't have the drive bays so it allows even more AIO or custom watercooling, or more hard drives. They are also generally a bit wider in the smallest dimension, which allows for better wire management, and sometimes the lower section housing the PSU is separate, allowing even more wire management or various controllers to be placed there. More and better fans, quieter cases, better airflow, and actual glass instead of acrylic seems to be the trend for this design overall.

Anyway, just buy a case with drive bays They make them.

Not to sound like a shill but the Define 7 XL is probably the best case design that will exist until we have rice grain sized ssds or something.
>>
Several cases put a scoop in the lower front, and keep the power supply in the lower rear. That Havn 360 case, Fractal Meshify 3, Fractal Pop 2 Air, etc.

There's also that idea of mounting the power supply, rotated 90 degrees from what's typical. Lian Li 207 does that in the front, Antec Flux Pro in the back.

you mean the dell 1000e chassis right?

The best design IMO is something like a CM stacker or any other case that has it's entire front as 5.25 bays.
It's no longer a hard choice between storage, fans, radiators or anything else.
Being 5.25 means that if you do make a decision you have options. Do you just want basic HDD trays or do you want hotswap?

>top fans
Wrong if you are strictly using air cooling
Learn how wind tunnels work
>>
>>108847067
>>108847328
Radiators mounted inside the case is fucking gay
radiators should have their own chambers to allow for clean in/out airflow without mixed it with any other air

you can’t call it peak case design if the power button is anywhere near where you plug in USB things and headphones in the front
also
https://www.agc88.fr/agc/doc/apple/powermacG5-userguide.pdf was probably close to peak case design
pic related is from page 45
>three separate air tunnels
>easy in, easy out
>big fucking fans for the CPU(s) that generate loads of heat
>airflow intelligently directed in one direction without air bouncing around all over the place inside
>
Johny Ive modeled this on an HVAC heat exchanger and it’s clearly his most underrated work, if not his best work
>>
I always hated this retarded shit.
Never bought a case that does this and never will.

Negative air pressure is always a poor decision.

If there were filters on the two large fans this would be a pretty optimal design. Just two fans pulling air in. All other vents allowing air out.
>>
2 fans at the front, one at the back. That's it. That's all you need.
>>
>>108847067
>>
>>108849006
>Just two fans pulling air in.
That's exactly what I have. There's no other moving parts in the entire rig and even those 2 fans are off almost the entire time. The passive PSU sits at the bottom, right next to the intake fans.
>>
>>108847067
>more outtake fans than intake
enjoy vacuum inside
>>
>>108849019
Also, the only improvements would be to actually fix the PSU in its place, seal off the bottom mesh shit and remove that top PSU compartment since I'm not using it.
>>
You only need one intake and exhaust fan in 99% of builds, everything past that is ricer waste of electricity.

are we on fucking plebbit or youtube????? fuck off

youre fucking retarded bud, buy a case with feet and dont put it on thick carpet

PCs are outdated architecture.
It is sacrificing performance for the sake of dubious* modularity.

*example: graphics cards double the role of system RAM and (partially) CPU - there is no good reason GPU and CPU couldn't share the same fast memory and be on the same chip - in fact it's the most efficient and performant design.

It's been over 30yrs now since the release of the ATX standard (1995) and nothing has changed for the better.

How do get rid of the ATX jew?

I set mine up to have all fans pointing outwards to quickly remove all warm air as fast as possible. Yes dust gets sucked in through every micro gap, but eventually the dust builds up an insulating layer that prevents warm air from heating up my PC, keeping it running at peak performance.

This was never optimal, just barely functional.
If you want it closer to optimal, you would have to put a lot of plastic shrouds in there, to actually guide the air. And also increase amount of passive coolers, their surface area mainly.
