Why does this need to exist again?
>>108851185If they had pushed for this to come out a year ago. it could have been a MASSIVE hit. But with how the market is now this thing is DOA. But hay that's just Valve being too slow again, what else is new?
>>108851185Because id does exist on other consoles as well.
>>108851185Because valve has the most loyal fanatic fanbase of any company on the entire planet.Anything they sell will be purchased en masse by their cattle audience.
>>108851393this, also console market only has sony in it
>>108851185why shouldnt it exist? valve noticed that their cultists are basically like applefags and will buy everything, now they also have linux imbeciles line up to buy their products as well
>>108851393>company does good by their customers>they are cattle when people continue to use the platform
>>108851501Exactly like Apple and Nintendo.
>>108851261it's going to sell out for months lol
>>108851185It's a status symbol like a fancy watch or cigarettes
>>108851511Those are overpriced and actually try to fuck you over at every opportunity.Valve is genuinely OK business. They make money, occasionally spend them on trying out something new when they're bored. Only thing you can criticize them for is that gambling bullshit, but it's mostly money laundering, taxes dodging thing. I personally don't blame them. They don't want to pay taxes to pedophiles. But then again, who does?
>>108851185Does me wanting one to use as a desktop make me goycattle?
>>108851619>t. cultist
>>108851619could be a troll post but then again im not surprised over anything when it comes to valve cultists, they unironically think like this. doesn't help that they have linux imbeciles in their ranks as well
>>108851393>Anything they sell will be purchased en masse by their cattle audience.Steam controller 1? Best controller back then btw
>>108851761retarded ass cultist
>>108851261this thing does not have the potention to be a massive hit, who would buy something that's equivalent to a decade-old gaming PC when you could just buy someone's old 1080ti rig for $200
>>108851185why do you need to exist, again?
>>108851779Can you please tell me how it completely failed if >Anything they sell will be purchased en masse by their cattle audience.
>>108851741>>108851679If you're attempting to troll, you should find someone else, I don't care all that much about that particular company. But as for a private company they're alright. Not idea, just meh, okfine kind of company. If all businesses were like valve, I would be ok with that. If everyone was doing faggotry of apple/nintendo lvl, I would seek a closes terrorist cell to join in order to help them destroy the failed civilisation.
>>108851779What are those black dots on the pic?
>>108851951>I don't care all that much about that particular company>except I obviously do, and I'm here playing unpaid defense for that particular company
>>108851185>daily Timmy funded anti valve thread
>>108851185why not? the mini pc sphere with a dedicated gpu is completely fucking barren
>>108851185They're gonna keep pushing it back until GTA 6 has a PC release date. They'll have some sort of bundle deal with Rockstar where PC players can get the game a month early with their Steam machine.
It's about valve looking at the shitboxes that keep making it to the steam hardware survey and thinking they should release a device that brings these shitters up to a minimum hardware standard. It's also a experiment into decoupling their main money maker from windows. You could imagine that being important if microsoft decides to shit the bed, jeet out, or simply just starts thinking about getting a cut from steam's revenue for using windows
>>108851261See you when it sells out like the controller.
why does valve succeeding makes tendies seethe?
>>108851185Manchildren LOVE glowing lights. It's free money. You pay like 5 cents for some LEDs and manchildren pay you hundreds more for it.
HOLY FUCKTHIS IS A GAME CHANGER
>>108851185>y'all
>>108851185>Why does this need to exist again?Have you seen windows 11? Time to go to arm processor.
>>108851185it's just a video game console with access to most of the steam library, which also happens to be usable as a PC if you want to fuck around with it that's allnothing more, nothing lessif your first though looking at it is "but I already have a battlestation" YOU ARE NOT THE FUCKING TARGET AUDIENCEwhy are so many people somehow confused by this?
>>108852295I asked in a polite manner for them to not put shit on the screen and embarrass themselves by looking like total shitheads... they didn't listen.
get rid of windows ram bloat and the performance hit it gives your hardware. then just boot into windows when you want to use windows based apps and such. if they went into assembly coding again they could just get rid of the need for any o.s. at all.
>>108851393>i am unique and special and have special opinions>people who disagree with my opinions are simply cattle, lemmings leaping from a cliff
>>108851185When the fuck is it launching? I don't understand why Valve is taking so long. The RAM is expensive? Well just raise the price of the Steam Machine to compensate, even if it's too expensive to be a good deal for fuck's sake, the RAM price isn't gonna go down either way, so why wait
>>108852378ddr5 ram offers no real gaming benefits. you may as well just use ddr4.
>>108851393>Because valve has the most loyal fanatic fanbase of any company on the entire planet.yea it's crazy what happens when a company doesn't try to extract every cent out of your walletthe only real blemish on valve is lootboxes and the fact that it'll all go to shit once gaben croaks
>>108852425I'd like to buy your product. How much is it? EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!!!I'll pass. please die soon.
>>108851185even though using steam is like having gaben repeatedly ram a twelve inch dildo up your ass, it is still LEAGUES better than the shitty xbox, playstation or nintendo ecosystems.for console gamers, this will be a huge upgrade for getting much cheaper games, getting to install game mods, and gaining the ability to use any controller they want. they wont have to deal with subscription online services, terrible refund policies, or overpriced garbage controllers. even valve's controller is better than the big 3 console makers, it is repairable and not designed to break unlike every other console manufacturer, who intentionally uses garbage parts so that their controllers wear down faster. and if they don't like valve's overpriced controller, they now have the freedom to buy a gamesir/8bitdo/hyperkin controller instead.for the normies, this is a huge win. my brother is going to get one so we can finally play halo together with the steam workshop mods. we always dreamed about custom levels in halo 3 when we were much younger, and now we can play them together even if we are hundreds of miles apart. and without paying for "xbox live".for a /g/ chad who already torrents every game and has a nice computer already, the steam machine would be a direct downgrade. but normies cant build computers or learn what a "torrent" is, they just want to buy games and play.
>>108852425>it'll all go to shit once gaben croaksSad.
>>108851185its a console to play your pc games on the couch>inb4 you can hook up a pc to a tv chudyeah you can but there is no hdmi cec on any gpu and you cant just turn on the computer pressing the xbox botton unless you have very specific motherboards or parts. you can spend all the time researching the latter point or you can just buy a steam machine and it just werks.
Bring back turbo displays. Show percentage, temps, etc
>>108851185Because people got so mindraped by their blind hatred of Microsoft for the last five years or so they'll gladly pay Valve for a mid tier PC with pre-installed Linux because they're too incompetent, tech illiterate and lazy to actually do the bare minimum of installing something like Mint to actually move away from Windows. That and the Steam Machine seems like a nice option for a mini PC for the TV. Too bad the whole RAM crisis happened so it'll be DOA on pricing alone.
>>108852698All those features are laughably easy to make yourself if you have a basic toolset and know how to work with microcontrollers and 7 segment displays.
>>108853073Where do I plug it in on an integrated system?
>>108853144The easiest way would be to program an ESP32 to do all those functions and communicate with it over the normal USB. It's so easy you could even "vibecode" it nowadays and parts would be like 20 bucks in total
>>108851393>said while sony ponies and itoddlers exist
>>108852013why do you insist on this cringe shit?do you get paid or is it just because of the attention?
>>108851393lol this post triggered the valveToddlers
>>108851185GREED
>>108851185I'm more interested about the Steam Frame, but depending on the price I might buy the Steam Machine too.I simply do not want to install Steam or any proprietary games on my Linux partition, at the moment I use a Windows partition for that basically I use Windows as if it was a gmae console OS, but having a dedicated machine would free me disk space and I wouldn't need to change OS all the times to play gaymes.
>>108853260Too bad he still couldn't tell me why the first steam controller flopped
>>108852263Its simple. Because Nintendo has become so shit nowadays, some of the tendies wise up and leave the Nintendo's ecosystem for PC. The more people stop coonsooming Nintendo shit, the more monolithic Nintendo becomes, and the more it shifts its focus on cinema rather than games
>>108853429Because it was kind of bad? I own one, the touch thing doesn't work well and the layout is even worse than Xbox controllers. The new Steam controller seems much more sensible and tha Playstation layout is good.
>>108853452>Because it was kind of bad?No, it's a perfectly fine controller even without being on steam. >the touch thing doesn't work wellJust change the settings. The ootb setting is dumb but I'm sure you can press three buttons. Anyway, how does this track with >ANYTHING THEY SELL will be purchased en masse by their cattle audience.Did anon mean anything good they sell?
>>108851501>their customersyou meant their rentoids?
>>108853429Why did the iPhone Air flop? Why did the Wii U flop?
>>108853746Because the cattle didn't just buy everything their owners produced.
>>108851185Its cheaper than buying a gayming pc from scratch. Its worth it if you dont have one already for whatever reason.
>>108851185>Y'ALL Valve is lost.
I'll possibly get one depending on price, at least for me who lives in AC-less European squalor something that only uses a couple of hundred watts and plays games at an acceptable level IS tempting, it might even turn out to be good as a HTPC if SteamOS embraces Plasma Bigscreen too.
>>108851185Because its builder wishes it so.Funny what you get to do when you start, own and operate a delightfully successful business that makes you billions of dollars every year -- you get to make stuff you want to make.Neat, huh?
>>108851185will I have any chance of buying this?I heard the steam controller got sold out in 30 mins
>>108851761You are now aware it actually sold well and only got canned because some scumfuck company sued valve for the backpaddles on the controller. The only valve branded hardware to sell poorly were steam machine 1, because they were made by a third party
>>108851185For me it's a small device I know will function well like the deck and get a decade+ support. I'm going to stick it next to my tv in the living room and use it as a cheap media device
>>108851261>>108851596you're both dumb niggers. it'll sell out instantly but it won't be because people want to play videogames on it
>>108851185they made an announcement about a strip of light on the side of their fucking game box. we really are the dumbest mother fuckers alive. god dammit steam just get some fucking keys and jangle it around in your customers faces since you think they're all retarded anyway.
>>108855056>they made an announcement about a strip of light on the side of their fucking game box. we really are the dumbest mother fuckers alive. That is not true. It's on the front of the game box.
In my 20 years on the internet I've never seen as much Valve hatred as I've seen on /g/ this year. Is this some new forced meme? Or merely the latest form of the post-2016 /pol/ gaslighty ragebait-contrarianism that's been making my comfy image boards utterly inhospitable?Or is it Windows kids getting mad that Valve is single-handedly making Linux a viable desktop OS?
I am going to buy one even though I have a PC and if its good enough to replace my PC I'll just sell my PC. I am a golem
>>108855922They are the big bad guys now with a monopoly over gaming and attempting to lock people in further with a console device, it's one of the the most evil things the PC space going on and people just lap it up. Piracy is the only moral course. In fact pirating and then installing it on a steam device is the most based course because you are flaunting in valve's face you refuse to use their store of anti-competitive slop.
>>108851185>worship the black cube, goy!no :)
>>108856083>attempting to lock people in further with a console device,A linux machine. They're selling you an entirely open and hackable linux machine. Is this gaslighting some kind of paid astroturfing operation by Epic games and Microsoft?
>>108856131>immutable archslop with krashde>entirely open and hackableLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>108856164You can install whatever OS you want on it? And proton works on any distro and is under permissive licenses so you don't have any argument on that front either. Are you paid or just /pol/-brained?
>>108856179>proton works on any distro and is under permissive licensesof course a DRM company would use a cuck license to EEE linuxthank god piracy, gog, wine and umu exist, (((valve))) can't die soon enough
>>108851185It exists so normies can have a Linux gaming HTPC without actually learning Linux or how to build an HTPC.>>108851393I'm a loyal fan of Valve. They gave me CSGO for free when I was a kid and upset it wasn't part of the Orange box.
>>108856249Ok thanks for convinging me that all valve hatred is paid bait, this is too blatant
pc desktop gaming is dying, no one care anymore, not even nvidia. this valve last attempt at saving their market for the distant future.
>>108856275paid by who, the pirate bay? LMAO
>>108855922>the latest form of the post-2016 /pol/ gaslighty ragebait-contrarianismI am convinced that there are paid shills that operate 24/7 on this board, mainly paid by Microsoft, Apple and Anthropic, see for example the obviously astroturfed campaign against Linux and FOSS, or the campaign against programming.Valve makes the Microsoft shills seethe cause they make gaming on Linux viable, it's not a perfect company of course they still push DRM and all of that but clearly they are doing something good with SteamOS and the new hardware projects, no other corporation is doing any of this.>>108856083>attempting to lock people in further with a console deviceSteam Machine will be open though, they explicitly say you will be able to do what you want on it even install a different distro or play pirated games on it.
>>108856647>they explicitly say you will be able to [...]>play pirated games on it.nice try lmao
>>108856685Let's hear why you think you won't be able to play pirated games on SteamOS.
>>108856685I install cracked games on Linux all the time, I just add the installer to steam and run with proton then change the exe and launch folder in the properties to where you installed the game. If you need to install something specific for it to work like some specific .net version you can do it with protontricks. its a little more involved than just double clicking an exe but its not hard
>>108856696>>108856736>trusting a DRM company to not snitch on yougood luck, anons, you'll need it
>>108856755steamos already exists and people have been playing cracked games on the steam deck just fine. you are schizophrenic. even in a hypothetical scenario they start scanning all your files and turn into a CIA torture device that drone strikes crack users, you could just install a different distro
>>108856736Proton can be ran without Steam via launchers like Heroic or Umu, completely skipping that choke point.
>>108856755do you even know what computers are?
>>108856895No, I can't. My entire existing game library is in steam.
>>108854535And that's why they had to sell them off for 15€?
>>108857208yes, they were ordered to give all the revenue to corsair so the price tag didn't matter to them
>>108852378They want the market to stabilize a bitif it remains high they'll launch it with a bumpotherwise they can't secure long term manufacturing at a stable price
>>108851185for the same reason you exist
>>108851185>>108852290this couldve been a good feature without them advertising it. >download something>oh nice it displays the progress on the console
>>108851185they can do anything as long as it's not ai
