Atoms for Peace and Project Plowshare were attempts at reinventing society around nuclear fueled inventions. In the end, nuclear power and a few niche medical uses were about the only non-weapon uses. Atomic cars that could drive coast to coast without refueling were attempted but never got into real production. AI probably will be somewhat similar.
