It's kind of useless question. I tried C++ for two days with Vi, and I think this motherfucking language is fucking complicated than C. I wanted syntax highlighting for the time in 93 years.
Why do you people do this to yourselves. Just use vscode like a normal person 99% of the time, vi is for when you need to edit files on something you can only access via ssh.
>>108855172
>>108855070why would you use vi/vim over neovim?
>>108855191I used neovim before, But I just don't wanna learn lua to edit my editor.
>>108855191Sometimes you just want to edit some text and you don’t need an entire stack of plugins to recreate VS Code to do that.
Use whatever you feel like.
>>108855191neovim, even without plugins, is more complicated to configure, and changes more often. personally i dont like lua compared to the simplicity of my single vimrc file.i use LSPs but not AI, which i use opencode for.i dont manage my files in my editor. in fact i have netrw disabled, so it just goes to a blank file if you open a directory
>>108855172Why do this to yourself? Just use emacs 99% of the time and visual studio for debugging and profiling.
>>108855070>Should I have to use Vimno, you should use neovim instead
>>108855208>learn luabro its basically json syntax, there isnt any learning required
>>108855070this doesn't make you a le epic haxxor btw, no one cares that you use vi and no one cares that you write C or C++. you come off as a larper. just thought i'd let you knowand yes i use vim as well
>>108855729>and yes i use vim as wellI use Vim BTW
>>108855771I use vim bindings inside emacs and neovim btw
>>108855070There’s also Helix, but I second the “just use VS Code” commentsNeovim has LSP support in a plugin probably so that should help you even more than mere syntax highlighting
Just use vscode normies are so tiresome. I didn't go into this profession to use some half-assed Microsoft WebView react slop of an editor that constantly spies on me. Why do people who ue vscode want to suck the last bits of joy others experience about programming by bullying them to use this corposlop?
>>108855070use dev c++>>108856210vim is absurdly backwards, there is plenty of decent ides for c++, visual code is just the most popular
>>108856495I was on vim up until a few months ago when I finally switched to neovim. It's fine, it writes code and gets out of your way. If you can't live without muh lsp and my IDE features then it's your problem. Code is just letters you need to type.
>>108855070Who is forcing you to use a particular editor again?

>>108855191Why use mainframe meme editors in general?
>>108856753>Code is just lettersye, and IDE is just a software you need to install, i used neovim up until a few months ago when i finally switched to visualstudio.
>>108855172Time waster perhaps. Do you often see people talking about any other editors/IDEs? No, only about meme time wasters.
>>108857114>Protip: don't take advice from anyone here. Everybody here is deranged in a different wayYour advice is invalid then.
Your choice of editor and language are objectively wrong. There is only one valid systems language in 2026, which is Rust. There is only one valid modal terminal editor in 2026, which is Helix (written in Rust). There is only one valid GUI editor in 2026, which is Zed (written in Rust). Time to leave the stone age, chuddy.
>>108855070how do you deal with the compiiler errors anon?C was okay but what the hell is going on in C++ when your whole screen gives you some bullshit.
>>108857244You don't know what a mainframe is.

>>108859244It's really quite rediculous
>>108857196Nano or nvim are way better for mePycharm is heavy on the ram and vscode constantly breaks my configurationsBut I'm not a fag if I had a decent specs I'd run a normal compiler unlike these hipsters
>>108858066
>>108855172I use vs code with vim bindings
I think there's this one and the same troon here in every thread on /g/ pushing Rust in threads that are not about Rust at all. I bet it's the same person who posted the ugliest Rust code possible here once and then tried to convince everyone it was beautiful.
>>108858066lost me at Zed. it's vibecoded garbage.
>>108855172A proper nvim config will be a LOT nicer to use than vscode.
