There's no such thing as linux, you might as well replace linux with 'OS'.If you use one type of linux/OS it doesn't give you any guarantees that what you download will work on your version. If you find some software you like you may or may not even be able to download it at all depending on your version of linux/OS, and if you can there's no guarantee that the release available to you is even up to date.One version of linux/OS can have bugs/exploits that aren't fixed in other linux/OS versions released at the same time or even later. If you have a problem with your linux/OS you can search online, but only fixes for your version of linux/OS will work. Looking for a driver, it better be for your version of linux/OS.The concept of linux is just 1000 autists painting the bike shed their favorite color while making sure none of the other bikes will fit.
