Do zoomers tech bros really not know how to change the power settings on their laptops so that it doesn't go to sleep when you shut the lid?
>>
>>108858977

They are vibing, what do you expect?

Don't put a running laptop in your bag though.
>>

>Do zoomers tech bros really not know how to change the power settings on their laptops
No, but most of them use something iPoor tier trash that overheats and melts if they close the lid for 30 seconds.
>>
>>108859058
That was very much true with Intel Macbooks but I don't think closing the lid has any effect on cooling nowadays.
It just that Mac users are too retarded on how to do it, MacOS requires a terminal command to turn off sleep mode when closing the lid.
>>
>>108858977
>zoomers really not know how
>anything
Just build a server at home that runs 24/7 - maintenance, and connect to it over the net to "vib".

>>108859094
No after they switched to M-series problem started. M1-5 overheats immediately when you use 100% of the power for over 30 seconds.
>>
>>108859158

I never open the lid on mine, but never touch the mac either. Basically use as a mini PC.

Based on the fan noise, I don't think it overheats much desu.
>>
>>108858977
tbf macbooks don't have a setting built-in to allow for this kind of stuff to work when you close the lid unless you're docked. there are however apps and configs you can manually set to not go to sleep when the lid closes so yes, vibecoders continue to be retarded beyond any doubt.
>>
>>108859216
It is one single command, its gay, but its very simple.
>>
>>108859158
Yeah maybe if you put it in a bag/backpack like that, which I would expect Macfags to do because they're retards, but otherwise that's pretty much bullshit since they don't vent through the top.
I could see the closed lid causing it to heat up after extended use since the aluminum transfers some of the heat, but not in 30 seconds.
>>
>>108858977
really makes you think what can a guy make who's too stupid to change laptop settings
>>
>>108859248
What command? I only know caffeinate but I doubt it would work with the lid fully closed
>>
>>108859383
sudo pmset -b disablesleep 1
>>
I dunno if it's our IT fucking something up or just generic Windows fuckery but this setting doesn't work right on my work laptop
>go to power and sleep settings
>choose what closing the lid does
>change both plugged in and on battery settings to "do nothing"
>it works once
>the next time I try to close the lid it goes to sleep anyway
>check settings
>still on do nothing
>won't work until I click on the dropdown to refresh it
it's been like that for months, each time I'd want to close the lid without it going to sleep I'd have to refresh the setting even if it's technically set correctly.

I dont know how to repair my car, I let technicians do it. All that matters is its used as transport for more important things in life.
>>
>>108858977
They use Macbooks which are very user hostile when it comes to setting thing the way you want.
>>
>>108861781
I had something similar on a tablet pressing the power button, had to edit a registry file
>>
>>108861781
Did you check the _old_ power settings under the old control panel. Windows had big ideas about moving them all to one system but still hasn't done it properly.
Don't even get me started on trying to set up a windows filesharing network in this day and age.

Zoomer tech bros didn't write that article, some retarded DEI prostitute hired by business insider did.
>>
>>108858977
you are still retarded for
a) still running some fucking agent on your laptop that can potentially delete all
b) not using a different machine

>>

Macs don't allow that.
You have to use external programs or caffeinate for this. Or do the equivalent of a registry hack.
That's how fucked up and user-unfriendly macs are.
>if the user sees a terminal, you fucked up
A truth more aligned with the linux user experience than macshits in 2026.

>>
>>108865521
One has fake bolt in tits for her boss to play with. The other one has natural udders from eating goyslop while using the vibecoder on their Mac that's always spread eagle and never closes it legs.

The difference is subtle.

Why even keep the laptop running though? Just use tmux or screen and run the agent session on a remote machine.
>>
>>108858977
I'm going to go ahead and say that even if you use Windows, it takes less effort to carry it half open instead of going and changing settings
>>
>>108867230
No remote machine, only local. That's how modern tech companies do things.
>>

i did that once and then i forgot about it and my laptop overheated in my backpack :/

Perhaps software policies prevent them from changing settings like that. Big corpos and public organizations often have retarded shit like that. The fact that I'm the first to mention this might imply something about how unemployed /g/ is these days

What garbage are these people making that they feel comfortable allowing the LLM to just do its thing? You still have to babysit them for anything that isn't webslop
>>
>>108867442
I've also forgotten to power down a couple of times.
It won't damage anything, all modern computers thermal throttle to avoid damage.
The only slight problem is that the battery drains, so it needs to charge for a few minutes before it can turn on the next morning.

>>108868810
Why would your corpo allow you to use your work laptop in the airport if they're so bureaucratic you can't adjust your power settings without permission first?
>>
>>108868973
These people have no coding capacity so they just reroll until it gets it right.
