Why don't Linux executables have icons?
>>
Cuz they don't need to. You have .desktop files with icons for you to click on.
>>
>>108865688
What if I have a portable executable?
>>
>>108865707
don't appimages have icons inside?
>>
>>108865797
Nigga I dont want an appimage, the fuck is wrong with ya
>>
>>108865652
why should they?
>>
>>108865817
So they have more personality than a blank file icon?
>>
Use a thumbnailer daemon then.
>>
>>108865652
why does ls and cat need an icon?
>>
>>108865652
use case?
>>
>>108866074
ls would be a list of items
cat would be a Garfield looking cat
>>

Linux users not understanding something as simple as "exe files get icons so they are easily identifiable" will never not be funny
>>
>>108866100
Their mindset is perpetually stuck in the 80s and they act like GUIs are some weird new trend that will never catch on.
>>
>>108866100
please don't leave comments if you have nothing to say
>>
>>108866146
And then they get angry if someone prefers to use macOS or Windows.

This conversation is getting a bit heated. I recommend slowing down.
>>
>>108866252
why does this look so much like Mr. Gnome McUseCase even though it's only made of a few straight lines and squiggly lines
>>
>>108865652
Because it was never indended for desktop. Linux desktop is mostly just being free betatesters for Red Hat and Canonical.
>>
>>108866281
Because people like him are literally cartoonish caricatures. Everything about their lives is predictable and "typical". They're personified golems selected and recruited to fulfill a certain role, for the sake of a covert goal, which in his case is bike-shedding the free desktop environment for PCs.
>>
>>108865806
Well if you exclude appimages, snaps, flatpaks and all equivalents to exe, then you can't do any comparisons to exe. Other stuff in Windows don't have icons either you fucking retard.
>>
>>108866580
erm...
>>
>>108866580
Nigga an exe file is not an appimage, the fuck are you smoking
>>
>>108865652
>Why don't Linux executables have icons?
They do. Are you blind or a nigger?
>>
>>108865652
they do thoughbeit
>>
>>108865652
Use case unclear.
>>
>>108866635 >>108866647
AppImage is the closest Linux equivalent to a portable .exe you brain damaged retard. AppImage like a portable .exe, doesn't require installation or system-wide changes. Both are single-file ways to distribute and run applications.
