I miss this PC simplifying mf like you wouldn't believe
>>108865705>PC simplifyingWhat does that even mean? 7 was the most bloated and complex Windows OS on release.
it was a better time
>>108865719My interpretation is that it "just worked" in ways previous versions hadn't. Yes there was some bloat, but for the first time you could be reasonably assured that the installation process would be painless (barring BIOS/UEFI mismatches or using a RAID card for the installation volume) and damn near everything would work right out of the box or after it found drivers automatically. Older stuff worked with it in a way that's been lost on Windows 10/11, and the interface was the refinement of what everyone had been used to up to that point. You didn't need a fucking MS account or a bypass just to get going.
>>108865801>>108865705lets see: all GPUs (simply worked) without installing drivers in the year 2010, if the GPU was from around 2001 to 2008many sound cards worked if they were from creative but everything else kinda needed a driver, even realteks which are embedded on motherboardshowever before 2004 the embedded sound cards were AC 97 compatibles and not necessarily made by realtek, all those had a built in supportthen also many RAID cards had preinstalled drivers if the card was from 2001 to 2008everything that had a Vista driver, often had a 7 driver as well, as 7 included drivers taken from Vista, unless microsoft had deemed it too unstable
>>108865801It was gigabloated compared to XP and I don't remember it "just working" any more than that did.Drivers were never a problem. The OEM of the device installed those on your OS before shipping it and people who built their own shit knew everything there was to know about getting and installing drivers.Comparing it to 10 and 11 and saying "it's better than that" is very much pointless. Windows has been going downhill ever since Microsoft released XP.
Before MS was jeeted
>>108865801>My interpretation is that it "just worked" in ways previous versions hadn't.lol
>>108865705>I miss this X like you wouldn't believeWhere doe this niggerbabble phrase come from I keep seeing faggots repeat this
>>108865705>he doesn't want to update to get useful features such as bricking your HDD, or being unable to login, or bricking your GPU, or render various basic toolsGet with the program, old man!
>>108865705What's stopping you?
>>108866114reminder that you are a mentally ill necrophiliac who needs to seek help
>>108865801>My interpretation is that it "just worked" in ways previous versions hadn't.nah, you swap motherboards and it's game over for win7, drop de nostalgia, win10 is when things started to "Just work", and I fucking love win7, hell I even got to install the leaked iso before even the official launch
>>108866170>win10 is when things started to "Just work"W11 really did a number on people when people start getting nostalgia for the dumpster fire that was W10
>>108866179it's the same shit all over again
>>108866179w10 just works and still gets updates unlike your deadshitos baby duckie
>>108866179Inb4 Windows 11 was great because it at least ran on physical hardware instead of a cloud based thing that you basically control over the internet.
>>108866195Either you're too young to remember it or you're really suffering from rose tainted glasses, but no, W10 did not "just work".It was an absolute fucking disaster of shitty updates after shitty updates that you couldn't truly disable, and you still need to strip a lot of the junk today to make it usable. What DID happen is that Microsoft somehow managed to do much worse with W11Now the real question is how badly they're going to fuck up W12 that people will feel nostalgia for fucking W11.
>>1088662367igger I grew up with xp and 7, windows 10 is just a windows 7 v2 and the only reason you stick with your deadshitos is because of your mental illness
>>108866236ltsc let's you disable updates, besides is not smart to run an unupdated system at all
>>108866151>baby duck anon immediately thinks about fucking dead bodies when he sees windows 7And you're telling *us* to seek help xD
>>108866625necrophiliac means the love of what's dead, that includes deadshit operatiing systems
i wish that the only /g/ alternative wasn't fucking lainchan
>>108865874That's the bloat. Everything Just Werks on 7 because it's bloated with a bunch of shit and whatever it's missing, it guesses and auto-installs drivers for you whereas previously you would only install specific drivers you needed. Win 7 is for tech-illiterates.
>>108866258>7igger I grew up with xp and 7Translation: you were a kid and didn't actually use them much, and Win10 is your baby duck OS.I use arch btw and don't give a shit about any version of windows after 7, your bias is just obvious from a mile away.
The real tragedy is how happy devs were dropping win7 and making sure their shit works only on 10 and above, in the name of modernity, you'd think they were paid for by microsoft.
>>108866902I fucking hate having to make shit work on W7 which entire reason for not working is just some lazy check.Especially when it's shit like a framework which can produce softwares that can run all the way down to fucking XP.>you want to make something that runs on XP? You're gonna need W11 for that.
>>108866830cope but I use parabola
>>108866902I wouldn't switch to Linux at all if my shit still worked on W7. Microsoft is fucking stupid. All they had to do was to update it so they could keep spying on me like they want
>>108867319>All they had to do was to update it so they could keep spying on me like they wantKek people would ironically be okay if MS just put the Aero ontop of NT 10.0 kernel with all the bullshit in it as long as it didn't get in the way, just like how Linux is considered to be getting more bloated all the time, but at the very least, we can put DEs on it that don't get in our way and add more bloat.
>>108866036i think it comes from english but don't quote me on that
>>108868502What the fuck is an english? Spook american god damit!
Winny7 is so fast in current year it will make your head spin
>>108865719I dont remember it being slow and i used to run it on 2 core CPU. It was fully featured. No need for containers, sandboxes, VM and various layers of compatibility to have useable system. Wayland made things even worse for Linux users.
