FYI someone could compile the main parts of game code onto a processor.

Like you know how a lot of people just play skyrim, nearly?

Well you could make a processor that is like a gpu that just does skyrim, where skyrim is baked in.

And, it would be cheaper than a 5060, but faster than a 5090, at the game. But just that game.

This basic idea is surprising to a lot of people who totally didn't know that.
>>
Think about all the people who just play Madden on the xbox. They could have been playing it at better settings, for less money.
>>
>>108906680
>play Madden
why would i play that?
>>
>>108906694
Because it's the only game the machine can play, and you got it for Christmas.
>>

Console redpill

Sega
>Saturn had Hitachi SH-2 shit that hitachi gave to sega for extremely cheap because they couldn't find anyone else to buy it
>Dreamcast had Hitachi SH-4 and only console ever created that supports automatic order independent alpha blending.
>Plans to download Dreamcast games directly to the HDD, a feature that Xbox 360 realized

Sony
>PS2 had Kutaragi's Emotion Engine. PS3 had Kutaragi's CELL
>PS2 Emotion Engine and PS3 CELL were nightmares for programmers
>The original plan was for the PS3 not to have a traditional GPU. They were going to use the Cell for everything
>Sony has lost more than $3 billion on the PS3, console was a failure
>Mark Cerny is hired for PS4
>Mark Cerny wanted PS4, PS5, PS6 and PS7 to be AMD APUs because it was cheapest and easiest for programmers. any optimizations done for PS4 will just help PC get further ahead
>Unlike PC configurations, PS4, PS5 and PS6 uses fixed/standard hardware that the game can be specifically optimized for

Nintendo
>Nintendo's strategy has always been use quality software to sell consoles
>Gamecube graphics chip was made by ArtX, comprised of former SGI employees who worked on N64. ATI bought them shortly before the release of the Gamecube, hence the ATI branding
>The Switch uses an X1 Tegra, a 2015 tablet processor

Xbox
>original XBOX has an x86 Intel Pentium III processor means PC porting is dead simple
>Xbox was a huge financial risk for microsoft. Those PC components cost a fortune compared to the cheap RISC hardware of PS2 and GC. They lost $125 for each console unit sold. Using a hard drive as a game data cache was also something never done before back in the day. There was a ton of creativity involved in the making of the xbox.
>Power Mac G5 was the base for the Xbox 360 architecture
>Xbone One ran on an x86_64 AMD CPU
>Xbox Series X runs on an x86_64 AMD CPU

TLDR
>Retro consoles had custom hardware
>Modern Consoles are just budget AMD PCs
>>
>>108906736
don't matter. old consoles had GAMES that people wanted to PLAY. that is the ISSUE with new GAMES and CONSOLES.

what is the best 8TB HDD for hoarding torrented movies/tv shows and also small images etc.? is the WD Blue WD80EAAZ the best option?
Wouldn't mind seeding whatever I got since I have a 1gbps connection as well, but im not sure if that's a good idea with a "cheap" drive like that
>>

Yep. I'd buy a Skyrimbox custom silicon that just ran Skyrim.

Avoid seagate, buy wd or toshiba model doesnt matter. Ideally get another 8tb one to backup the same files.

There's no best option. I have a Seagate, and I put stuff on there that I could get again, if I lost it. I mean I also can backup to it, obviously, but that's not the main copy.

you could also just the take the CD and give it to a FRIEND. you could buy GAMES for 20 bux and PLAY them. just plug in the console and PLAY the fucking GAME. new consoles are just steam in big picture mode. they need internet. they have achivements, friends, chats and all that other noise. like my dad wanted to buy a ps5 to play some tekken and it was a really shit expierence setting this thing up and just playing the fucking game. on the ps2 it was just press play and go.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005012216057688.html

Retarded chinks have some sort of tax on mouse that don't have LED.
If you want cheap mouse, you have to suffer from LED that destroys your eyes.

This is next level compared to the west.
The Chink DNA has always been obsessed with shiny bling bling ever since they invented fireworks.

Most of them actually don't understand focused laser light is destructive.
They recently had a party in Hong Kong where half the guest became blind.
Maybe in 20 years whem millions of them become blind, they might catch up with the science and learn all of their bling bling ooga booga lights are dangerous.
But until then you're going to have to manually inspect every LED device you have.
>oops is where a crack the LED is shining directly through?

Whenever I see a crowded small form factor case it feels a bit silly with how un-designed the system is compared to a console, laptop, smartphone etc.

The cooler is massively incorrect size
Gpu and cpu should be next to each other, the energy delivery system should be shared
PSU's is the most size uneconomic thing ever and always overpowered for the systems watt needs.
the airflow is retarded because its not actually designed arund it, compare to series X with 1 fan blowing through everything.
>>
>>108907333
gabe cube only has one fan. maybe someone is going to make a better system like with the steam deck.

I feel the lancool 217 is severely underrated due to the wood making it look ugly and the lancool 207 being great bang for buck. For me it's currently the best case with big fans only beaten by the historically great torrent and it's predecessor the lancool 216.

I'm looking into buying a second monitor, specifically, a MiniLED IPS, and most likely I'll be buying this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FKNFHZH9?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&language=en_US

I bought this one last year:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4Z8RFY9?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&language=en_US

My question for those with better experience on displays than me: Is it worth the extra cost? The one I have is really good, I have pretty much no complaints at all with it, but considering that I use my PC mainly for gaming, it makes me wonder how much of a difference it will make jumping into a MiniLED.

this might be the wrong place to ask but the only other I saw was the cheap chink shit one and I don't really want cheap chink shit t b h

long story aside my mother has become mostly bedridden and lays watching free video shit on her phone
I got a decent adjustable wall mount and am replacing my monitor/tv to give her my current one
I was going to get her a streaming subscription to a completely legal streaming site that has everything from everywhere so she could watch whatever she wanted whenever

what I need is a minipc I can strap to the wall mount arm to do this, but everything I see in the price range I'm looking at is this overpowered high spec stuff that's barebones and requires assembly; I just need something that has wifi, can run hd video though hdmi and browsing if she wants to do that, she doesn't really play vidya or anything

US and I need it to be like under $300

The problem with miniled is that local dimming doesn’t work really well in edge cases where there’s a bunch if small bright objects in a dark area. The blooming will become obvious instantly. For most other content though, blooming is typically only visible if your viewing angle is really off (that means even if you look straight at the monitor the blooming will become obvious instantly more visible around the edge).
For IPS Local dimming itself also kind of destroys colors for small objects. Check the 8:40 of this video, it’s also the one Im using

There's not much else left to explore with cases. I want to see someone try a tubular case design (still rectangular mounts) that has two giant fans at the front and rear spanning the entire diameter. I/Os will need to be diverted through the side. Front ports can just sit on the side of the case while rear motherboard ports will likely stay where they are, instead you have a openable / removable ring of the tube right where the ports are and the wires are pulled in the side before connecting like normal. Maybe have some rubber gaskets to hide it a little. No horizontal mount at all for the GPU, it is vertical only, there's no flat "rear wall" of the case inside the tube.

It looks like the computer equipments companies are dying off because we are pausing our purchases.
This is really bad for us as a whole.

I was planning on waiting until RAM prices got better again before buying CPU and Motherboard.
But on the other hand the industry will die off if we all do this.
And it's overall best if I buy motherboard and CPU first while waiting for the RAM.
Just 2 problems:
1. I won't be able to diagnostics the parts and will lose my consumer rights to return the motherboard if it turns out it is defective 1 year down the line when I finally get the RAM and can turn on the system.

2. I'm afriad if I buy a board that uses non-ECC, but in 1 year it turns out it's all the ECC ram that has the best value, then I'm still screwed.
Or the other way around with ECC and non-ECC.

Itd help if it included a back tray to place some extension cord so only its cable is left on the ground instead of the monitor power cables, and some sort of system to funnel the monitor dp cables through because those can be precarious if they snatch onto something.

Consider building one, buy the legs, a desktop, etc separately, and drill in screws with pilot holes.

Other accessories like peg boards, cable management trays, can be bought and just drilled and screwed in as well.

AliExpress might sell a cable management tray or under side tray that clamps onto a desk top, cheap desks are made of hollow particle board and cannot be drilled into.

Please explain the exact number it's worth then, go on, pull a number out of your ass since you've already commited to this stupid un-winnable argument.

it's 120cm long. it's worth nothing.

>>

just buy some legs and build your own desk at this point

I just bought 10 arctic p14s because they were at 50% sale, yes I do have a use for all of them

all raptor lake processors are still covered by the extended warranty

I hope prices go down but if they don't or if consumer products become more limited I'll have to make my build last.

I can't wait for apple to release their revolutionary m20 macbook pro with the great silicon ever known to man and it will still only be able to run a game from 4 years ago in 60 fps. or better yet you will have to subscribe to stream sloppa.

why oh why did i buy an m3 macbook pro :((
>>
>>108912106
alder lake was a good generation, yeah ecores was a mistake, removing hyperthreading was a mistake, removing avx512 was a mistake, using 250w power was a mistake, but it's a lot of cores and they are fast and it's made in ancient 10nm, if they get to relaunch raptor lake without it's ridiculous suicidal tendencies it would be a decent platform to build using ddr4
