I'm looking for a mid-tier desktop headphone DAC/amp that has a preamp bypass which allows one to use the DAC at line level. Also a good solid state headphone amp... capable of driving planars. The goal is to own a solid state amp that'll drive planars which can have its DAC piped to a tube amp (pre&power, input at line level) for driving dynamic phones.The only pseudo example of this I've found so far is the Fosi ZD3, which is a DAC/preamp with a preamp bypass switch. It doesn't have a headphone out, so uses the preamp only for volume control on external gear. If the Schiit Magni Unity had a preamp bypass switch like the ZD3 does, for example, it'd be perfect.Maybe this product doesn't exist. Big opportunity, if so.
