These days there are hardly any mobo that use it and almost none that are high end (remember in the old days Asus ROG boards used to have the "gene" suffix if it was mATX or "impact" suffix if it was mITX"). Honestly I don't see the point today most often - either use a smaller ATX case or stick to mITX and cases designed specifically for its layout if you want one.

Guys if you want an efficient PC then you need to underclock it. You can get like 80% the performance with 40% the power draw. Disabled 5800X3D turbo boost and set max vram clock of my 9070xt to 60%. Now I can game in my hot asf room.

What's the best performing thumb drive? I already have an ASUS NVMe enclosure but I'd like something smaller to put on my keyring.
I have a 3060TI (i know its over for me) and i have never given it a maintenance pass.Am i fine purchasing a grizzly thermal sheet and just replacing its thermal paste (whatever remains there) with the sheet? Im too chickenshit to also mess with the thermal pads. Just replacing the paste and giving the fans a bit of a dust off.It usually performs cool enough since i play old shit and im happy to run games on lower resolutions/fps for extra performance but im playing the 007 game right now and it sends it to 85ºc pretty damn fast.Any and all opinions welcome, Thank you.
>>108999594Is that 85C core or hotspot? Also what about the memory temp? Run Furmark for a few minutes and report the temps, gaming tests are inconsistent.
>>108999535are there any USB 4.0 thumb drives at this point? Otherwise the NVME enclosure seems to be the best but it's certainly larger than some USB stick.

>>108999594That's Anon from SummerTime something by Dark Cookie, I haven't thought or played that game in a while. I think played that game when it was only half done, at least before he put Trump in it.
>>108999691I'm gonna assume that 85C is the core temp then, which is pretty bad. Repasting is a good idea but if it's four years old the thermal pads on the VRAM and VRMs will just break apart and will need replacing as well. Personally I use cheapo Thermalright pads from Aliexpress but I splurge on the paste (and usually spread it out with the spoon like Thermal Grizzly recommends).
>>108997055The specs picked by OP are way too :1) expensive2) overkilledfor most setups.I daily-drive a GTX 745 OEM (4 GB Vram), a Ryzen 5, alongside 8 gigs of RAM.That's enough to hit around 500 FPS on Minecraft with shaders and the Voxy mod. It's enough to play most Switch games emulated.>Activate WindowsWhy not a user-friendly Linux distribution? Mint. Fedora. Anything with GNOME.
>>108999726>the thermal pads on the VRAM and VRMs will just break apart and will need replacing as well. Personally I use cheapo Thermalright pads from AliexpressIm worried about the pads since it seems that picking the correct ones is merciless, if i pick pads too thick or too thin i risk ruining the card right? while the paste im not totally retarded and i can easily replace it with a sheet or repaste.
What can I do with something like this as far as OS goes? Right now I have windows 11 on it but I feel like its not good enough for it, I have the Ryzen 9 32 gigs ram 1 tb version.
>>108999789this model
>>108999782If you are going to replace the TIM on a GPU, then you might as well be willing to do it "regularly", as in just a few times before you will be upgrading. In that case you can make use of putty instead of pads and not really care about getting the correct thickness.
Dumb question with someone who really prefers 24"inch monitors due to their setup so bear with me I bought this monitor and ended up really liking it https://www.amazon.com/INNOCN-Monitor-Desktop-DisplayPort-25G2S/dp/B0DSPLKKZV But also recently heard about minileds and theres a miniled version. I have an oled on my laptop for some reason and a oled steamdeck so I have some experience. But on the otherhand I'm really one of those people who use factory settings on monitors cause I could not tell you what HDR stands for. I do know whats important to me is image/text sharpness but thats just screensize/resolution so nothing to do with panels really. The question is is it worth upgrading to miniled? is it an upgrade? I dont play FPS games or any action games. Mostly JRPG, visual novels and code editing for work.
>>108999782>too thinThen you get no contact, temps will be sky high and hopefully you notice and redo it.>too thickPretty hard to do (just measure the old ones with calipers and add a bit to account for squishing). But yeah, worst case I guess you can crack a VRAM chip.If you think you're too dumb to do it right and have money to burn you can use thermal putty, it's much more forgiving.
>>108999862If you don't play 3D AAA games or bother to pirate HDR media you don't need to upgrade. For your use case I'd rather get a 4K display (24 inchers are kind of rare these days).

>>108999862Daily Driving 1440p @ 24" offers you really great sharpness PPI (122), so moving to anything less than 4K (either 32" or preferably 27") is gonna look soft and dull by comparison regardless to what you are used to. HDR is a crapshoot and will continue to be for another 5-6 years often looking worse than SDR because no one knows how to properly configure it yet (including monitor OEMs, OS devs, and game/movie graders). MiniLED suffers from blooming a lot of time so even really high brightness won't really help and is not a substitute for the per-pixel contrast you get from OLED.tl;dr Your next appreciable upgrade in image quality is gonna need to be a 4K OLED to give you better contrast and equivalent sharpness (preferably with an RGB Stripe subpixel arrangement but those are largely only coming to market next year).

I can tell 160Hz apart from 320Hz (dual mode monitor) quite easily while playing Audiosurf or Osu.
>>109000161It does, but you need to roughly double the refresh rate from each prior step to notice the improvement. So at least 240Hz or greater to immediately appreciate a difference coming from 120Hz, and at 240hz you want 480+Hz plus, etc. BlurBusters Law says we need to target ~1000Hz really:https://blurbusters.com/blur-busters-law-amazing-journey-to-future-1000hz-displays-with-blurfree-sample-and-hold/Also with any high-refresh rate, the advantage is really something you only appreciate after being used to it and getting forced to use a lower refresh rate after to appreciate what you lost. For example if you are used to 120/144Hz, going back to a 60Hz display would be agony.
>>109000208You missed the train last year. Now you have to pay at least double for storage and 4 times as much for RAM.
>50 series super refresh is meant to be uncancelled and out in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027>RDNA5 is on track for Q4 2027I guess AMD and Nvidia are thinking the AI bubble will burst soon
>>109000208lol no, you're like at least a solid 6 months lateMaybe if you reuse ram and storage it's not too terrible.
>>109000208It's really bad. The caveat is that it might still be the best it's ever going to be, at least for gaming.
>>109000222Alternatively maybe they are internally seeing catastrophic discrete sales losses, which even if a rounding number in their financials, would induce panic in investors if uttered as part of presentations during stock conferences. Also could be Mainline System Integrators/AIBs with pitch forks and freshly grinded axes at their doors demanding they do something.
>>109000222I don't know how you came to that conclusion.First of all we didn't get any official announcements for any of those GPUs.Also AMD rarely launches their cards before nV. I don't see why they would not do the same this time.
>>108997130no mention of operating system.

>>109000322I know about the rumors, but those aren't confirmed by AyyMD and nGreedia. So I don't see why we should care.
>>109000188>>109000209i checked sizes hows Thermalright Frozen Prismalso hows the Thermalright LCDs?
>>109000345Since when do AMD/Nvida comment on upcoming products? Why would they willing cannibalize their already nearly-unsellable consumer hardware in the current market?
>>108999928They're not going to make any more of it because they no longer have a CaseLabs from which to steal designs and then make shitty knockoffs. They got sued over it a couple times as I recall. The SWEfag CaseLabs 2.0 will hopefully get up and running though, because I've about run out of patience for cases being exclusively glass fishtanks with no expansion or modular capability., overall.
>>109000399Listen, if they don't advertise it then it's either not coming or far into the future. Both companies don't care about selling GPUs to gamers at this point. They clearly change their decisions based on market conditions and consumers aren't buying right now. nV uses their refreshed GPUs as a way to reset the MSRP but cards are already above MSRP so there is no point.
>>109000032Almost all the other ones are basically whitebox rebrands of the same old Asetek OEM design; it has gotten better over the years but that's the core of it - it typically comes down to fan variation and then aesthetic stuff like displays or whatever RGBArctic basically is a step above because they have a thicker radiator and a better cooling block than most as its a custom design, plus their fans are pretty solid too. All of this for a good price has it coming out on the top of a lot of comparisons.
>>109000482what is difference with max and pro fans
>>109000524One goes>vmmmmmmmmmmmmThe other goes>WoooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>109000208its bad for poors and most people are priced out of certain desirable componentsyou can still get pretty decent pc by making compromises, ram and high end gpus being the biggest onesif you can stick to ddr4 that saves money, if not you lose out couple hundred on ddr5 compard to year agohigh end nvidia gpus are msrp + 30-50%, but 5070 is still reasonably pricedyou dont want amd gpus but those are reasonably priced due to most people not buying themssds cost double, but you still get 2tb nvmes for 250€ so compared to ddr5 its nothing big
>>109000606If I had to guess its labor and people are so desperate for these cards cause of high demand that corporations or rich people are just willing to pay that amount to get them.
>>109000606Most likely black market smuggling of cpus and gpus since America banned a good 1/3rd of the world from having them because they were being naughty. There's a whole industry in smuggling them now since AI became a thing the military became interested in.
>>108997879>>108997910VRAM frequency downclock to 60% is excessive, it will probably save the card than 5W of total power draw going from 90 or 80%.The bigger thermal and power efficiency gains will come from undervolting + OCing the GPU, like setting the GPU to run at 2800MHz @ 900mV if that's stable.

>>109000411Why would they not make something they have repeatedly shown and CES and Computex this year?
>>10900032212 GB 5060 Super and 18 GB 5070 Super would be pretty sweet. Both cards could be amazing value if they come out near the non-Super MSRPs, considering MFG and new DLSS versions. The 5060 Super will be basically a 720p upscaling card and the 5070 Super will be basically a 1080p upscaling card for raster and light RT. None of the RTX 50 series cards are really future proof if you want cutting edge tech like neural rendering. It'll be interesting to see how much more expensive DLSS RR 4.5 is. Might make 4K DLSS Ultra Performance PT viable on a 5070 Ti

>>109000208Absolutely not a good time, but if you don't mind a $500 premium because you really need something then as always, it's not worth waiting. If you have something that meets most of your needs and isn't an annoyance to use, then obviously wait for new GPUs, either RTX 50 Supers or better yet RTX 60 in like two years. I doubt two years from now will be a great time to build either, but it'll be better than now. Not worth waiting for the next five or six for that optimum time to buy if you disposable income

>>109000161Yes and with MFG you can easily max out a 240 Hz monitor even in single player games
>>108998774This but unironically
>>1089987679070 XT is worse though
>>108997568Not worth for gaming. 5070 is better in practical scenarios
>>108997415You generally combine FG with DLSS. 4K DLSS Performance looks massive better than 1080p DLAA, so if you're getting only 30 FPS at 1080p currently then it's probably time for a new card.
>>109000783>save some problemsWon't be my problem because I'm going to sell it.
>>108997415DLSS retard, no one plays at native now.
anybody in here who's owned both nvidia and amd gpus in the last couple years? I'm wondering about the software side of things >>108998774
>>109000865DLSS alone makes Radeon irrelevant
>>109000865Nvidia drivers are dogshit on Windows and Linux today>Nvidia cards suffer noticeably under CachyOS and lose a significant amount of performance. We also observed some strange behaviour between the RTX 4080 Super and an additionally tested RTX 4080. In UHD and WQHD, the supposedly weaker model achieved higher frame rates than its bigger sibling. The latter also showed a gradual reduction in frame rate over time in UHD after each new save-game load. Since this was not observed at lower resolutions, we suspect an issue with memory handling. We cannot provide more detail. Based on experience, Nvidia cards and their drivers remain unpredictable.

>>109000884>FSR4.1 is better than DLSS 4.whatever nowIt's comparable to the upscaling that we had over 2/3, it'll be half a decade before maybe they push out something that's still worse but getting close to first gen transformer (Remember there's a second version that's even better now lol)>>109000911How are you even playing new games without just putting everything to low or using a 4090+ for 1080p?

>>109000891maybe if the geforce division was a seperate stock. I think all the ai shit right now makes any comparisons on that front worthless
>>109000865On nvidiaTheres consistent driver optimizations for big games pre-release. Their gpus have massively larger userbase and game publishers prioritize supporting their key features, dlss, frame gen, reflex.Cuda is a key feature for productivity apps, many apps only support cuda gpus and wont work on other brands gpus.Nvidia invests all key graphic improvements, and others follow on several year lag. Nvidia produces highest end gpus so you'll see all the youtubers using best nvidia gpus and talk about the high end experience which leaves non-high end nvidia owners yearning to be part of the cool kids club.Nvidia traditionally was the best for streaming, but apparently with 90xx gpus amd somewhat catched up.Nvidia has earliest and most investment in AI stuff, so they have software features utilizing that. Theres video super resolution, video sdr-hdr capability that works on youtube and mpc hc. Nvidia app has game filters that can add stuff like sdr-hdr, record gameplay footage, the usual. They tend to be relatively good on watt per frame.Nvidia invented Ray tracing for games so their cards have always been best at it, tho 90xx closed the gap. For path tracing nvidia can be the only option as their cards perform much better than even 90xx cards and some games only support nvidia. Nvidias ray reconstruction is better than alternatives.Nvidias transformer model upscalers are insanely powerful and can produce a clean image from very low base res. Multi frame gen has even frame pacing, can produce up to 6x frames and target a specific fps.amd:good for raster perf per dollar? They got some things rigth with 90xx release that used to be terrible, like upscaling with ml techniques, decent ray tracing.bad at everything else? I only ever owned an amd igpu.Their ray regeneration is a bit underbaked.Their features are hardly supported because publishers prioritize other things.
