I made an earth battery a while back, just a big iron bolt in one part of the yard, and a couple feet away a big copper rod. Connect them in series with an LED and it'll glow 24/7. As long as the soil is moist anyway.

Removing salt from seawater without spending energy is already hard enough, never mind getting electricity out of the process. I'm sure you could design something that evaporates water using sunlight and then lets it condense in the shade, sort of a miniature version of the natural water cycle, but that's just a form of solar power, not a battery.
