I got this monitor on sale for $900 during prime day
Is that a good deal?
Should I return it and shell out hundreds of dollars more for the updated models?
I'm worried about how fragile the screen is and the apparently terrible input lag at 60hz cause I wanted to use it with my consoles also

what about the input lag when it's forced to 60hz? I wanted to be able to use it with my switch 2 alongside my new PC
I'm also really worried about how fragile and scratchable the screen is
I'm just hesitant because all the new revisions that address those issues are minimum 200 dollars more which feels wasteful
>>
>>109173766
idk about input lag, it goes up naturally from lower hz
theres no gorilla glass monitors out yet, use a monitor cleaning agent with microfiber cloths to clean it
>>
>>109173776
that monitor in particular apparently has input lag at 60hz that's a lot worse than other monitors in that class
if I'm dropping a grand on a display I really want it to be perfect
>>
>>109173797
theres no perfection in our world
I dont think you'll notice the input lag in practise.

Its an oled so brightness isnt infinite and bright scenes in hdr gaming will cause it to do brightness limiting.
Its not matte so it has that going for it.

but again, if you want the best monitor theres a 360hz 4k qd oled coming out later so if you feel like paying for it go ahead
>>
>>109173797
>if I'm dropping a grand on a display I really want it to be perfect
The problem is that they don't make them perfect on purpose to fuel consumer purchasing, screen technology has been around long enough that they unironically have already perfected it, like the lightbulb, but the problem is that they work too well and over time they run themselves out of business and destroy their own demand.
So they make them cheap and out of inferior components to make you buy more than one.
>>
>>109173819
I'm pretty sensitive to input lag so it has me concerned
I just hate the idea of being unhappy with it and wasting a good deal
I still haven't hooked it up yet but I'm already psyching myself out looking at other monitors
>>109173824
I just hate how fucking retarded the naming schemes are for everything
it's impossible to keep track of and I'm only learning the details of what's actually out there after I already bought that one (mainly learning there's two newer revisions with 1 fucking character different in the name)
i just don't know what to do anymore
>>
there will never be a perfect anything, that's why you buy the most cost effective option and not the most expensive, always, with every hardware purchase.

ASrock was/still is cooking CPUs, specifically the 3D versions. They've issued like 5 BIOS revisions supposedly "fixing" it, but was never confirmed and apparently ASrock is just a bad choice.

either AMD managed to put lightning in a bottle with AM4 and their 3D chipsets, or we are truly just stagnating in the gaming sphere. Anyways. I bought a 2x16GB 3200MHz kit of DDR4 from eBay for $140. I'm going to pair this combo with a 16GB 9060 XT, and get 3x 1080p IPS monitors. Wish me luck boys

Man, what a night and day difference. I've only just recently gotten back into gaming on PC and was using my PC almost exclusively for code compiling and rendering amateur photos/videos. I only bothered to build a new PC because the water pump on my GPU started dying. PC is so good my CPU is rendering projects almost 5 times faster by itself than my old CPU and GPU working together were.

I wish AMD kept going with HBM on their gpu's. I feel like they gave up on it too early.
>>
>>109174159
I loved the GPU and HBM modules are really cool. I also liked how small the card could get because of it. Imagine an ITX length/profile GPU from the modern 9070 GPU line with 12-16GB of HBM. Honestly it was a solid enough performer even in the modern day for what it was. Gaming was a non started of course, but Davinci Resolve still used it as best it could. I had to tread a fine line otherwise I'd get "out of memory" crashes and errors.

No, let's hope it doesn't come to zen, it's not worth the trouble.
>new low power cores are going to exclusively run background OS processes and background apps the users assigns like steam, discord, spotify
Needs to much software, it's not happening. Also you would want to to work the opposite, only allow a few applications on the P cores, such as a game, so it's the exclusive user of them.
But then there's no need for E cores to gain the benefit from this. It would be just as useful for any multicore CPU throughout history.

They are not going to make a better scheduler, plus a good manager, capable of this because it's too hard for them (They can barely make a scheduler as it is) and the benefit would be so small.

Yep, if you had something like a 5600x or 3700x, even with ram at sane prices it would be a good buy: It would cost $300 (80%) at least more for 9800x3d + mobo + ram but it's only like 20-30% better

am4 is such a great platform, im tempted to pick another 5950x
>>
>>109174352
Other way around. XMP/Expo1 is compatibility mode with the mobo, expo/xmp2 is ram manufacturers timings. You often get xmp tweaked too which is even higher performance.

I'm saving a slot of the two M.2s I have for a much better drive but I'll wait if the prices ever go down again, getting this SATA for the OS is just more of a matter of current urgency

Almost all SATA SSDs are limited by the interface, so only thing you need to worry about is reliability.
For daily usage there isn't a lot of difference between m.2 and sata.

recommend me some cheap speakers, I have this edifier subwoofer I bought like 15 years ago and still works great, it receives a p2 signal from the PC and has 2 outs for speakers, the speakers are tiny and old, they do work but I want to upgrade them with something cheap like from aliexpress, under $50, there has to be something out there

>For daily usage there isn't a lot of difference between m.2 and sata.
I don't know what you mean by daily usage, but transfering from sata to sata is significantly slower than from nvme to nvme.
I almost bought another nvme drive in order to extract archives from one nvme drive to the other, since it is way faster that way
>>
>>109175454
>edifier X100B
But that's a 2.1 setup. What happened to the speakers? Like I said any edifier active bookshelf or desktop speakers should work. You will need active speakers with either RCA in or an y adapter cable with 3.5 in, alternative use a splitter from your playback source

Small active speakers are surprisingly rare outside of 2.1 desktop setups. Creative has its pebbles, edifier something like qr30, kanto has the oras but those are expensive. Bookshelf speakers have a bigger market and better choices exist but they require a certain space.

But that's exactly what Asus Q Connector for AIOs is. I didn't have to use a single cable for my AIO just slot in the special connector before installing it. Only the cable at the radiator is visible you have to use when you aren't using the q connector. It's patented so you will only find it on high end Asus boards and AIOs sadly. MSI had some cable solution with a special plug but it's not as elegant.

>Went with the 9070XT. I'll see what I can run on it as far as image gen goes, but I'm not expecting much.
huh

You'll be fine lol. I do image gen on my 6950xt. comfyui handles memory really well so you just change how you launch it. If you get out of memory (oom) then try --lowvram or --novram (which doesn't mean novram lol). They can help you adjust.

your card will be waaayyyy faster than mine lol
>>
>>109178168
Well that's reassuring.
Looking online I just saw a bunch of nay saying. I'll copy/paste the memory stuff for when I try it.

>>
>>109178183
This is how I launch comfyui. Your exact command will be different. Like will you be using conda instead of venv? idk how things work on Windows, but I think this stuff is in the bat file.

source ~/comfy-env/bin/activate

TORCH_BLAS_PREFER_HIPBLASLT=0 PYTORCH_ALLOC_CONF=expandable_segments:True TORCH_ROCM_AOTRITON_ENABLE_EXPERIMENTAL=1 MIOPEN_FIND_MODE=FAST CUDA_LAUNCH_BLOCKING=1 HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=10.3.0 python ~/ComfyUI/main.py --lowvram --preview-method latent2rgb --disable-dynamic-vram

You definitely won't use hsa override. I need it because the 6950xt isn't officially supported. I think on --lowvram and --disable-dynamic-vram are relevant to you pretty much, but showing you how it looks on Linux, in case you go that route.

Like the --preview-method latent2rgb is a fast preview method, but it doesn't look as good as taesd, which requires that you install the relevant file for it.

comfyui usage that is nice needs to set the output folder and file based on date. Otherwise, it's a mess.

Always remember that Google search ai is pretty good and free and knows everything about your gpu and comfyui.

The possibility of running ml upscaling on older amd gpus really shows how poorly planned this whole gpu business is execute on amd side.
They could've made the ml upscaler in similar timeframe as nvidia but a gen behind.
They could've put the resources in to create model and support it for rdna 2 at launch, they Should've done it for rdna 3 at launch, instead its 15months behind rdna 3 launch and more for older cards which get it in 2027

Ofc this is just lack of manpower, differnet priorities but they lost the game to nvidia with their strategy the entire 2020's.

But I like building PC's because of warranties. But the RMA process can be mid, and you should keep the boxes around unless you know you don't (if they ship a replacement so that you can use the box to ship the broken part back).
If you don't play AAA games, you can probably just buy a macbook neo for $700 and use crossover for most games, it's runs as good as you would expect a iphone 16 pro which is like $1000+? And it has a real battery life so you can actually use it for laptop things, plus not windows.

We'll probably be stuck with 1080p being on gpu benchmarks until all the poorfags eventually pick up on 1440p in a good 10 years or so. Even a budget card like the B580 is marketed as a 1440p machine, and you'll still have some poor retard bragging about 1080p being fine as if he just upgraded from a 1366x768 display for the first time.

Why even mention windows? They're bad in general for OS drives. Arguably still better than HDDs, but trash. A DRAMless is best relegated to secondary program/game drives.
The bit where windows is relevant here is without the DRAM cache, you're going to find your system slowing to a crawl at random when the standard search index crawl, virus definition update/scan, windows update, etc. job runs, entirely because the C:\ drive is being hit and ramping up the average response time.

I found an external 4TB WD Black P10 at my target for $149 even though online places are selling it for like $168 at least. I feel that was a good purchase to try since I need another external anyways and prices will only increase because satan's favorites want more data centers.

Do you niggas know if there's any AM4 mobo that can post without a GPU?
>>
>>109179511
Any of them as long as the CPU is the APU model
>>
>>109174046
I don't want my 1080p anime to look blurry, so I don't want a 1440p monitor, but I like high framerates, so I don't want a 4K monitor, so 1080p it is.
>>
>>109179624
you know most 4k oleds are 240hz
then theres upcoming 360hz versions later this year
>>
>>109179511
You need an igpu on your cpu retard. Just plug your monitor into your mobo display plug
>>

AM4 era CPU has no iGPU

>>
>>109179698
How do you get graphics without graphics you dumb ass mobos haven't had gpus in them since nforce mobos on Windows XP
>>
My motherboard on my NAS died, it’s a 1155 (3770k), all I’m finding are strange chink brands for purchase. Can someone spoon feed me something that has the biggest amount of SATA ports and isn’t going to die in six months? Or should I just slot in my other backup hardware and retire my 3770K. I would rather not, considering the price of RAM now and DDR3 being good enough for a NAS.
>>
>>109179747
You don't need graphics for a headless system. Some mobos have a setting that allow this. I just don't know of any AM4 one that support this.
>>
>>109179749
:^)

ddr2 is rumored to be going up too
>>
>>109179773
Then why not ask "Are there any mobos that can post headless" instead of asking a gpu question.
>>
>>109179793
Doesn’t answer my question. My 16gb are good enough for my needs, I just would prefer to keep using my 3770k. I’m attached to it. If I retire it and swap over to my 8700k, I have enough ram to last a lifetime on ddr4.

16gb ddr4 is not that expensive and they don't make new 1155s anymore, you have to buy chinese

New old stock exists, if you want to overpay. You won’t get a full SATA spread but it won’t be chink.

lol
lmao
It’s expensive for what it is.
>>
>>109179773
>>109179884
That's a OS specific deal not a board specific thing. Linux doesn't need a GPU, Windows does unless you're on server edition.

>>109179908
If you're too stupid to understand the question at hand just shut up. Part of the POST process is checking for video hardware, and many boards will refuse to start without it. Some have a toggle to not halt on ignorable POST errors, but some don't and will need *something* gpu-like to boot.
>>109179511
Also if you're desperate desperate you can get a super cheap m.2 vga card and use that.

Just making another post to follow up that one. So I checked the serial number on WD's warranty website and it said it expires in Jan of 2028. Since it is a three year warranty I imagine this has been sitting around for a year and a half now and wonder if I should return it. I know $150 for 4TB is probably bad price per cost, but I just impulse bought it since I do need an extra back up drive and don't want to pay $300+ for storage now.
>>
>>109179967
Also, just look at prices for other HDDs, apparently this model is discontinued according to best(shit)buy's website.
>>
>>109179967
it's fine, just use it
>>
>>109179995
Was that a decent price to buy it for or is there a better cost to space ratio I should look for? I am just a bit FOMO regarding storage given how shit everything is getting now. Also apparently walmart had them for $90 on clearance I am finding out so that is a kick in the knees to discover.
>>
>>109179967
It's like $36/tb, which is (unfortunately) pretty reasonable these days for smaller drives. I'd just snag it.
>>
How hard is it to find an nvidia card at MSRP these days?
>>
>>109180020
impossible
>>

Thanks for the honesty, I just want to have a pack up for all my NES to PS2 games I downloaded from Myrient before they shut down. I bought a 6TB WD Black internal earlier this year and have things on it, but you know back ups and all. I originally bought a 8TB Black from Amazon, but those fucking retards sent it without any packaging and slapped the shipping sticker on the retail box so it was broke when I got it. I just bit the bullet and got the 6TB($20 less but I wanted that extra 2TB) one since I wanted a HDD I could physically get from somewhere. I fucking hate Amazon when it comes to computer parts so much. I will say as well that the P10 design in white is very cute for my tech "fashion" aspects I enjoy.

5070? Nothing special, its cheap and by far the best option currently.
5070 ti hasnt been msrp for 8months

>>
>>109180045
Ah. I'm looking to make the jump from 1440 to 4k, so I'm looking at 5070 TI's. I'll probably have to eat the $950-1050 price I'm seeing on the options I'm considering, then.

What games show off my 5070 ti just asking ?

>Motherboard: Asus X870E-E
>Bundle together: $1,029.99
>Air cooler: SK700V - $71.99

Any recommendations on cheapest SSD and PSU for this build? I could settle for less than 1TB. I could also settle for a cheaper MOBO bundle but I really like the look for the ROG.

I never touched it because it seemed a bit undercooked. The visuals are okay but nothing special, from videos Ive seen they werent into industry standard graphics practises and theres weird shortfalls.

hogwarts legacy is pretty nice
it just got cracked by voices38 too in the last week
>>
>>109180086
>why are you suggesting a completely different class of product
To make you think and question if a 4x larger screen for the same money is better and also is way brighter
Size doesn't matter only distance to it matters, but you will also get more immersion even if you view it further away
It's literally better picture quality
Monitors are a scam and tvs are better
Although OLED monitors are going above 4k soon so they will have better res
But tvs will kind of be superior for brightness and hdr
But yeah maybe don't buy a tv you will get used to brightnss then u will see monitors are way dimmer
Idk
