>>109203017yes
>>109203017They're fine. I'm posting from an 8 year old asrock x470 taichi
>>109202874Like all noctua products it's good cooling but the most quiet in the market. Not worth it for me since I can get equal cooling performance for cheaper and the pump noise doesn't bother me.

Is buying a second hand SSD a bad idea?
>>109202975>>109203001>>109203097You can make fun of them but you can't deny that they're the apple of cooling hardware. After they released the A12X25, every other major manufacturer started releasing gentle typhoon clones in a couple months because of how good noctua's fans are. They're market leaders of cooling products and they have an enormous impact the entire industry whether you like it or not
>>109203017Probably. Or perhaps not. >games keep crashing at some point>both unreal engine gamesWhat's the chance this is just unreal engine fuckery or if it's actually the GPU? The crashes usually say something about the GPU, but it's not getting too hot. 5070ti btw. Should I just downgrade the drivers to an older version?

>>109203360>Sometimes I can run the games for hours and be fine, other times it just crashes somewhere in the middleuse hwinfo64 to check the 12vhpwr input voltage to your gpu under load. it should be no lower than 11.8v on a quality atx3.1 psu. 11.6v is also within spec but would be too low on a 5070ti on a newish psu.
>>109203368All right, will do, thanks. If it is under load what would I do about that?>quality atx3.1 psuIt better be, I was led to believe it was. One of those Corsair ones btw.
>>109203368nta but would undervolting cause this issue?
If my radiator and AIO tubes are cool to the touch and just blowing out room temperature air while my CPU is running hot, did I fuck up the contact between the IHS and the AIO's cold plate? The pump is running but it's seemingly just circulating cold liquid
>>109203401>If it is under load what would I do about that?just use a quick furmark to max out the power draw but don't run it for longer than a minute. compare the idle and during-furmark 12vhpwr reading. there should not be more than 0.100v of difference between the two readings on a 5070ti unless your cable is on its way out>One of those Corsair ones btwwhich ones? the 2x8-pin to 12vhpwr one? those are bad because the 8-pin side doesn't snugly sit in the socket and varies the resistance/current on each wire a lot
>>109203408vdroop is inherent to electronics because of electrical resistance. a 12vhpwr with bad connections will vdroop a lot because of its fewer wires having a good connection, resulting in higher resistance which causes higher vdroop.undervolting will reduce the amount of vdroop on the cable compared to its stock state which pulls more power.
>>109203412Did.you take off the plastic from the AIO cold plate
>>109203415Thanks for the info. A little late tonight so I'll bother with it tomorrow.>which ones? For the cables? It's the native 12v 2x6 that came with the PSU. It's the RM1000x.(Overkill for what I have but I got it on sale.)
>>109203478Yes
>>109203430so undervolting wouldn't necessarily cause this issue? i know if you undervolt it too much you'll find right away since the pc will crashmy friend has similar issues and he swears it's not his undervolt, but i've never done it myself
>>109203496It depends on which part of the system you're talking about. In the gpu/cpu core, undervolting while keeping the clockspeed constant will require a higher current to maintain stability, and the vrms which directly provides the voltage will have to work harder and provide the higher current. At the power socket, undervolting (while keeping clocks the same) will reduce overall system power which reduces the amount of current pulled there.
I have an issue with my PC that has recently surfaced. The fans started going full speed all the time, when in past they just went full speed for 10 seconds when I boot my PC and then would become quiet. I'm using a fan controller so at first I thought that was the issue until today when I unplugged my PC and moved it on my desk so I can work on it easier, only for the issue to be gone once I plug everything back in.Anybody had similar issues? Is cmos somehow at fault?
Im building my first PC and decided on>MSI b650m Gayming WiFi >Ryzen 5 9600x (or 7500f not sure for now)>Arctic Freezer 36>Cooler Master 750w MWE V3 (gold) >decent case with 3 fans (XPG Defender)>cheapest 2x16 ram kit (patriot viper elite 6400 CL32) the biggest point is that im delaying the GPU until i have enough money, i will be using my 1660 oc 6gb. and i need help deciding if going for the 9600x from the getgo is better so i don't need to upgrade the cpu in the next 2-4 years.I do play vidya, do some coding and AI on the side with potentially dipping into graphics design in the near future
>>109203604either get the 7800x3d and upgrade when you feel like in zen 7 or buy the cheapest one available and upgrade when you can to zen6+ x3d
>>109203616The 7800x3d cost 45% more than 9600x... while 9600x is 30% more than the 7500f.. you think the performance difference between 7500f and 9600x is tolerable for next 2-3 years?
>>109203540Parts of the PC still have power when it's "off." Something might have just bugged in a way that required a complete power down to reset.
>>109203540Maybe they just weren't plugged all the way in? You'd be surprised. Or electrical gremlins that get fixed ones you phase out all the power.
>>109203643The difference between the 9600x and 7500f is smallAnd you shouldn't bother with a 7800x3d unless you have a 5070ti/9070xt or faster gpu
>>109203643the 7500f is a 7600 with an IOD that doesn't have a working video out. Zen 5 was nicknamed Zen 5% if that gives you an idea of the uplift the 9600X will give you over the 7500F.that is why anon suggested to either go 7800X3D then wait for Zen7, or cheapest AM5 and upgrade to Zen6 X3D at the start of next year.
>>109203643I dont think the 9600x is a good cpu, being the king of 6 cores is not an accomplishment, I'd save for 7800x3d -> upgrade in zen 7 if I feel like/needor 8500f -> upgrade in zen 6 in 2027 or 8
>>109203643there is also waiting for the 7700x3d that will be out soon, that is probably going to be a killer value cpu like the 5700x3d was
>>109203699>>109203692>>109203686ty, I think now im leaning for the 7500f just to save up on money that i will need for the gpu, and in the future can get a much better cpu later>>109203717how much do you think the 7700x3d will cost? im not sure if i should delay building the pc even more because of the RAM and SSD prices...
>>109203727Just get the 7500f the 7700x3d will be too expensive and not worth the money at release.
>>109203727All am5 x3ds at this point are overpriced and not worth it's cost in budget systemsZen6 and zen7 will each bring a large improvement in performance which will drive down the costs of current CPUs like we saw on am4
>>109202874Getting the 420 with the little fan addition whenever I can be bothered to install it.
im trying this undervolting thing and idk if im doing something wrong. with pbo disabled i get 14045 in cinebench and with pbo advanced at -20 curve optimizer on all cores im only scoring 14125 in cinebench. is this normal?
Sometimes I think of replacing my 5900x with the 5800x3d.
>>109203902The idea for undervolting is to draw less power, and thus less heat, to your cpu. You might get some gains but not a significant amount.
>>109203306Is XMP on? Test it with it off. I had similar issues. Seemingly rock solid stability in everything except a couple of games I play. Gotta test with things when you’re within spec otherwise it's very difficult to isolate the problem.
I'm absolutely through with the nvidia shill farm. nvidia pays for Internet shills, and it has to be stopped.
Is a 5070 enough for 4k 60fps ultra/high in modern AAA games if using DLSS performance but without frame gen?
>>109203923I can play modern games on a 3080 at 4k using dlss so, probably. 007 first light ran at around 60-70fps.Id use frame gen if I had the option.
>>109203923you could ask /r/lgbtqia
>>1092039233080 is the floor for 4k 60fps so the 5070 will be absolutely fine. Only go higher if you want more than 60fps, a 5060ti 16gb is also an valid option if you want to save a bit
People living near Microsoft’s Fairwater data center in Wisconsin are suing the company, saying the facility has made life in the area much louder. They say there’s a constant humming noise from the cooling systems and backup generators, along with dust, bright lights at night, and extra traffic from construction.Microsoft says it is aware of the lawsuit and is working to be a good neighbor, adding that it has already made changes to reduce the noise and other issues.
>>109203918you need a blackwell 6000 btw

>>109203306for me that was a windows update revealing that my pbo offsets were unstable.

Though tbf I got the 5900x when it came out, so the 5800x3d wasn't out yet.
What's the purpose other than being really expensive for dual resolution monitors? Like why would you ever need a 4k and then 1080p option? And don't say anime. Watching 1080p anime on a 4k screen is absolutely fine.
>>109204126In my case, it was like 100 bucks less than the 5800X3D at the time. Oh what a fool I was.
>>109204148bro...i remember watching the initial 12-core 3d-vcache presentation on stage by lisa and thinking what a great idea it'd be for gaming performance and that i wouldn't have a chance to enjoy it because of my intel motherboardto think you gave that up to save $100...
>>109203211haha
>>109204143Mostly that the tech is already thereoled pixels change almost instantly which enables >1000hz monitors, but you have limitations in the electronics on how fast you can switch 4k res pixels, limitations are relaxed on lower resolutions so you can push refresh rates higherWhat people use those dual mode on I dont really know. Maybe esports. Maybe they run all games on 1080p because their gpu is too weak, and switch to 4k for anime.
>>109204109>but won't that affect performanceThat's not the point right now. It's just a test. Performance is irrelevant without stability.Even then were talking small percentages, the sort of difference that only shows up in benchmarks, you’ll not notice it in real world scenarios
>>109202971>All other manufacturers must be shaking in their boots at how good it isIt's using an asetek pump.
>>109204148I know the feeling. Wanting to save money is like that sometimes.
>>109204270https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_ItUDe3AFwI was confused why its noteworthy to have noise absorbing material for the pump. Like, if it was relevant everyone would do it since its so low tech thing.Turns out its just so pathetic noise reduction its hard to care.
>>109204245True. Well that's another thing I'll check tomorrow(later today). Gonna be a long day ahead of me.
Been thinking of changing from air cooling to liquid cooling on my 9800x3d, but that'd be a lot of work.
>>109204282>pathetic noise reductionthat's the entire noctua brand
>>109204143Not that I watch much anime these days, but isn't blowing up any 1080p source to 4K going to look worse compared to its original resolution?I know TVs have some sort of upscaling algorithms, but I don't think PC monitors have that.
I have a 5900x and am glad I got it over a 5800x3d, because I really do use the cores.
>>109204300Nvidia app has a super resolution thing that you can use to clean up video live
>>109204109wdym how? it was stable before (it wasnt ever but the error rate was low enough to ignore) then i had to lower my offset to be stable again. if i roll back the update, or reinstall from a previous version, i can set it back to where it was.
>>109204143its mostly a symptom of oled being ahead of its time. the panel can handle the high refresh rates in the low res mode but the display interface and scaler cannot handle the bandwidth requirement of driving that refresh rate while at its native resolution
>>109204282are we watching the same video? the noise reduction clearly reduced a lot of the annoying pump whine
>>109204401Isn't some PC oled monitors doing like 4k 240hz? I mean unless 240hz is still too slow.
>>109204423The 4k 240hz according to google ai couldnt go faster because of the volt delivery to each pixel line by line for 8mil pixels had some bottlenecks.Samsung still figured it out and theres 4k 360hz monitors coming out.
>>109203412Also both case and radiator fan speeds have a negligible effect on temperatures, all it changes is the quantity of cold air being blown out of my case, it's as if no heat ever makes it to the radiator at all
>>109203211>stuff is going to be MUCH better in 2 yearsgive me some of that copium you're taking
>>109203611The point is that you need to tard wrangle the high RPM fans with custom curves as by default they will be ramping up to retarded speeds. Ideally use FanControl and manually tune things as you run test loads, then you can replicate that in the UEFI if you don't want dedicated software running in the background.>>109204520It's better to huff copium than constantly swallow blackpills and claim you're "enlightened">OH THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL>OH WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO AFFORD HARDWARE AGAIN>OH ALL OF THESE COMPANIES ARE PURE EVIL AND WANT TO TAKE AWAY PC'S AND FORCE US TO THE CLOUD>OH THEM TRYING TO DELIVER ANY FORM OF CONSUMER HARDWARE MEANS NOTHING I WANT NEW TOYS EVERY YEAR>OH THE RTX SPARK IS A SCAM LOOK AT HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS AND NO THESE PRICES WILL NEVER GO DOWN NVIDIA SPENT MILLIONS ON R&D TO HAVE AN EXCUSE BEFORE THEY RUGPULL EVERYONE THIS IS TOTALLY A SANE THEORY WITHIN THE REALM OF REALITY I'M NOT CRAZY>OH THEY TOTALLY HAVE THE MOST POWER IN THE WORLD AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY STOP THEM FROM DOING WHAT THEY'RE DOING THEY HAVE INFINITE MONEY OUT OF NOWHERE AND WILL BRIBE EVERYONE WITH IT TO KEEP THINGS GOINGThis will end either this year or early next year. Already there's FUD within the investors, and without the investors this scam cannot continue. All these companies still trying to give us any products, new or old, shows that the whole "cloud PC's" conspiracy theory is bullshit. If they truly wanted that, they wouldn't bother with trying to deliver such products to the market. But I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped giving a shit about the consumer market given how you've all became the nightmare consumers. No matter what they'd do, you'd bitch and moan and hate their products, while the enterprise client not only has more money, the enterprise client isn't perpetually unsatisfied with some gay vendetta against the companies.Thing will get better. If you don't believe that, kill yourself.
How do I get a job?
>qd-oled>sensor turns display off when afkdoes this fix pixel burn ins? or is this tech still a meme?
>>109204626The fact that you need to come up with these types of features is admitting that no matter how good OLED gets, it's fundamental flaw still persists. I value my monitors not getting permanent burn-in over having true blacks, fastest response whatever.I'd rather wait for MiniLED to catch on a bit more than buying an OLED. Taking an existing technology like IPS or VA and bridging it's biggest gap from OLED by implementing per-pixel backlighting will be the way to go desu. The end game will be having a true RGB backlight for every pixel, by that point you'll essentially have feature parity with OLED, minus the response time.
>>109204626Phones had this feature for ages. You put the screen in your pocket or ear and it turns off.
>>109203017I have an x470 master sli and its ok. Bios is nicer than MSI aids and it has a lot of USB ports which I like. I think it got slated on release for having anemic power delivery for a board of its class. >>109203048Bought this second hand in 2019 and no issues at all.
>>109204700I bought a high end woled recently and honestly my biggest gripe is the text rendering is horseshit even when I mess with cleartype or whatever. It does feel like I'm jumping through hoops a little bit with the pixel cleaning and stuff True HDR in story games and its motion clarity in esports games at 360hz is really really sick tho.

>>109204753OLED screens often not adhering to the standard subpixel layout is another big issue, yes. And the "pixel cleaning" is actually shortening your screen's lifespan bit by bit. Yes, OLED's "solution" to pixel burn-in is to evenly burn all pixels out every time you run that, so it's likely that within a few years you'll have half of the original brightness. All those advances in OLED tech and this is still the #1 issue that hasn't been properly resolved, and it's the only screen technology suffering from it.

So like, do any of these AI companies actually make money yet? All I'm seeing is investors keeping them up with no long-term solution on how to be profitable. You figure at some point, investors are going to want to see some profit from these AI companies. CXMT (China’s top DRAM maker) just made a bold statement. They say Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are not their real rivals. Instead, the company is targeting NVIDIA and Apple as the true competitors, with the goal of becoming the global #1 in DRAM within 5 years.CXMT has grown fast: from 3 percent market share last year to 8 percent this year. Alrrady prepping a major IPO and expanding capacity while the big three prioritize high-margin HBM for AI.Apple is reportedly considering China's CXMT chips despite geopolitical risks.Korean investors are divided, some admire the ambition, others see a tough road ahead given the technology gap in advanced nodes.CXMT is closing gaps on mature processes and benefiting from overall memory demand, but overtaking the leaders to become #1 is a very high bar.Ambitious plan or realistic challenge?

>>109208451I've been reliably informed by a 4080 super owner that it is impossible and even suggesting such a thing to laden the poor manufacturer with means I'm a bad person.
I got a recent uptick in views on my "5070 Ti vs 9070 XT Path Tracing" video and people are shouting at me for not using FSR 4.1.See, the video was uploaded on 1 April 2025. FSR 4.1 was released almost a year later in March 2026. Sorry to have let you down. My bad.

>>109205148>You don't need more.Sure, but I'd still like an unlocked BIOS, some heatfinns near the VRMs, pcie 5.0 support, some more usb-c ports, higher than 1 Gb ethernet speeds, built in wifi and the removal of dated VGA DVI-D on the motherboard, but I guess a board like this is fine if it's cheap...
Anyone know where I can find cheap PCIe 4/5 SDD that doesn't involve theft?
I just want an external Blu-ray reader/writer that can play 4K UHD Blu-rays and is M-disc compatible. If it could be a solid unit meant for a desktop, that'd be great, too. Why exactly does this seem hard to find?

A Reddit user reported a melted connector on a Gigabyte RTX 4090 OC during gaming. The owner smelled burning from the Corsair SF1000L.Warranty on the former flagship expired almost a year ago. The victim plans to repair the card by resoldering the burned port.Commenters criticized the 12VHPWR interface. Many prefer AMD graphics cards featuring classic power connectors.
>>109209378That won't fix the very high frequency problems.
>>109209332Sorry third-worlder, but not having access to dolby vision is a deal breaker. Which is why the LG G series are always rated higher than Samshit's S95.So, go back to enjoying your Soccer in pleb hdr, I'll be basking in the glory of Dolby Vision.
I need slaves to feed me grapes, hungry, too lazy to get up and go to the fridge.

>>109210112Well it's just the games themselves and not the whole PC. I'll keep looking into it, that's one less worry though. Thanks.
