Microsoft is facing backlash after laying off around 4,800 employees, including 1,600 from Xbox, while receiving approval for 2,273 H-1B visa workers in 2026.

People argue the H-1B program is being used to replace American workers with lower-cost labor.

Microsoft disputes the idea that the layoffs were directly tied to H-1B hiring. A company spokesperson said:
“These decisions are based on business need, not visa status. H-1B employees were also impacted by job eliminations in the U.S.”

Windows users aren’t just going to sit and watch Rockstar launch GTA 6 exclusively on PS5 and Xbox

PS5 emulator development is moving faster than ever, with GTA 5 already being booted using the KytyPS5 emulator. Developers still have months to make serious progress, and I wouldn’t underestimate the PC community.

PS4 and PS5 use the same basic x86-64 CPU architecture as modern PCs, so developers don’t need to emulate everything from scratch. Some code can run directly on the PC, while the emulator translates the console-specific parts to make the game work.

Holding GTA 6 back from PC just to make PC players wait is a dumb move anyway. Feels like Rockstar wants to push more PS5 and Xbox sales... wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some kind of exclusivity deal behind it.

Now that Samsung is finally throwing their previous gen QD-OLEDs in the trash, can someone explain to me what exactly what was causing them to have that magenta tint in the first place? It's not like the new Gen Panels have a polarization layer either, so what inside the guts of the panel was so damn purple that would have giving the Artist Formerly Known As Prince a Hard-On?

So not only does Windows 11 have system restore points, but there are now 'Point-in-time restore' points as well.

This shit was writing 50GB backups to the SSD every 72 hours, and you cannot adjust the frequency or retention period on Windows 11 Pro, not Pro for Workstations. You have to have Windows 11 Enterprise.

It would legit use less SSD writes to just wipe the drive and do a clean OS install if it ever got bricked beyond recovery.

Before the game came out, the team behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was told that nobody would enjoy one of its key gameplay systems.

Their response was direct. The lead said they “didn’t care” and moved forward anyway.

The game is a turn-based RPG with new mechanics and lot of players and reviewers now point to these mechanics as some of the best things about it.

Palworld has made Steam history twice, Both its original launch and the 1.0 release are now among the biggest concurrent player peaks in Steam’s history, something very few games have ever achieved.

Its original Early Access launch reached an all-time peak of 2,101,867 concurrent players, making it one of the biggest player peaks Steam has ever seen.

Now, with the 1.0 release, the game has reached a new peak of 855,525 concurrent players in the last 24 hours, once again placing it among Steam’s biggest launches

The Black Ops ports have been the top sellers since they launched on PlayStation.

The games are digital, and a lot of people who were trying to boycott PlayStation in over end of physical media bought them.

All it took was some old ports with nostalgia and they already forgot about it. Yeah, PlayStation will push this since people keep buying digital.

Mexican lawmakers are preparing to file an antitrust complaint against Sony over its reported plan to stop releasing new physical PlayStation games after 2028.

They argue that if the PlayStation Store becomes the only place to buy new PS5 games, Sony could gain too much control over prices and distribution.

The complaint will reportedly be filed by Federal Representative Iraís Reyes and Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio with Mexico’s competition authority. They argue that:

- Without physical copies, PlayStation users would lose the ability to shop around for the best prices.
- Retailers that sell new games could be pushed out of the market.
- The second-hand and game-trading market would effectively disappear.
- Sony would have greater control over game pricing and distribution through the PlayStation Store alone.
- Developers and publishers could become more dependent on Sony’s platform and its commercial terms.

Linux operating system users gained access to FSR 4.1.1 upscaler on RDNA 2 architecture graphics cards. This integration became possible due to the proton-cachyos-11.0 tool update.

Any games with FSR 3.1 and higher support are automatically upgraded to FSR 4.1.1 version. Technology was tested in Resident Evil Requiem and Marvel Rivals.

Tests confirmed stable functioning of algorithms. Official FSR 4.1.1 upscaling support for graphics adapters based on RDNA 2 architecture will only appear in early 2027.

It's been 15 years since I did this; my main drive and my video card are still on the way, but I stuck a Gen 3 M.2 in one of the secondary NMVe slots. So I'm just testing it, and it basically flashes through a bunch of codes, first the memory, then the CPU, then the VGA (which isn't installed yet but the sound card is) and then gets hung up on HDD with error D7. It's not posting obviously. Is this a good sign or a bad sign for the most important parts of the PC?

D6 and D7 just mean "No console input/output" devices found.

I'm more worried about all the codes it goes through on all the other stuff before it finally settles on that one.

Some of those new ULL kits got tested:
https://wccftech.com/review/g-skill-trident-z5-neox-rgb-ddr5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-6000-mt-s-cl36-expo-ull-memory-kit-review/

The g skill one actually has fairly good secondary and tertiary timings, though you can probably still go lower on some, but on other hand it's the samsung die, so I dunno
But that biwin one is laughable, just look at those tRFC, tREFI, tWR, tWTRL and so on
They are so bad that this CL28 kit loses to a fucking CL36 kit in wccftech tests.
I wonder if the g skill CL26 kit will get tested.

Is there even a point in getting those if you already have 6000cl30 with a x3d processor?

If you have Hynix A die you can manually tighten the timings and get much better results than those kits
Unless the G Skill 6000CL26 kit turns out to be some ultra golden bin with really low secondary/tertiary timings, which I wouldn't count on honestly.

Games industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto says that even if 500,000 PlayStation Plus subscribers canceled their memberships to protest Sony’s decision to stop releasing physical PlayStation games, it wouldn’t be enough to make the company change its plans.

Sony has around 50 million PS Plus subscribers, so losing 500,000 would be only about 1% of its subscriber base. Toto called that “just a drop in the ocean.”

Extra context: Toto is affiliated with Keio University, which has worked with Sony on research and published studies on microlens technology.

Some people online have claimed the university could benefit monetarily by developing the microlenses that will supplant the Austrian disc factory

it's also inefficient because some tasks don't need all cores at max speed and with fewer cores doing work they reach higher boosts
per core undervolt is unbeatable in every scenario except for a computer that only runs fully multithreaded workloads
>>
>>109263394
High vsoc is what nukes x3ds and if you have high speed ram then the fclk+vsoc on the board automatically scales and potentially blows you up.
>>
>>109263394
SoC voltage above 1.3V will likely kill your AM5 CPU, that's why you can't set it higher than that. But early UEFI just defaulted to 1.4V or more with XMP enabled so a lot of CPUs died. RAM voltage is separate and 1.45V is perfectly safe if you have enough cooling.
>>
>>109263406
It's straight up slower because now you are doing base clock 4.7ghz instead of 5.4+ghz.

What is the option that allows you to run games om native with Nvidia cards? It seems like every game now it just offers dlss and then the options that come with it. Can you no longer just run a game natively with RTX cards? I'm on a 3090 if that matters.

The industry would be a lot different if China was allowed full and unfettered access to silicon. Wouldn't have the oligopoly you see now.

With the help of the government and Swaysure, Huawei could introduce its own DRAM manufacturing plant with a capacity of 140,000 wafers per month
Crucial details shared by @SemiconductorsX reveal that the Chinese government, DRAM chip maker Swaysure, and Huawei have formed a trio to set up a 12-inch memory production plant that won’t just shield them from the current supply shortage, but also provide the former Chinese giant with something to fall back on in case the Trump Administration has any funny ideas of blocking shipments from Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron.

Given a choice between a 4060 ti 16gb (1.2k aud), and a 5070 12gb (1.9k aud), which should I buy for gaming?
5600gt, 2x16gb ddr4-2133, and a 1tb bx500 ssd.
For context I'm looking to sidegrade to a more portable and power efficient system (currently on a 3900x and 3090). I'm worried the 4060 ti will be too weak, but a 5070's vram seems too small, there's a game I play where screenshots are rendered in a custom resolution and is dumped to vram; a 8k screenshot in a regular scene takes up 19gb of vram.

It was some times after the 50 release when their drivers were buggy as hell anyway. I cant remember if they pulled it. Basically if you entered sleep the sensor stopped reading the current temperature rather always showed you the last values it had before you put it to sleep. If you had a software fan curve set the fans would then run at speed based on the pre-sleep temperature. Sucks if you had something like 0 db fans set and went to sleep at <40°C. They applied a hotfix pretty fast.

Mine's a 9950X3D2 in an Antec Flux Pro, the 420mm is designed to sit flush with the rest of the case.
>>
>>109265818
doesn't the noctua aio just use some antec pump and loop with their fans slapped on it?
>>
>>109265863
Yes. But the fans are brown and you get a neat little magnetic emblem, plus the ability to put another fan on top of the pump to keep the VRMs cool... as soon as that comes back in stock.

alright this is my potential build
the only things here im actually buying are the motherboard, case, CPU cooler, and PSU i have everything else already

It varies on the game some keep it in their game folder others keep it in your driver's shader cache folder.

I might just keep this 3070 Ti and wait for the 5080 Super or until I can afford a 5090. Gaming is my primary use case but I also wanna fuck around with local LLMs.
>>

is the 3070ti the fastest 8gb gpu to this day?
>>

>>
>>109265929
I doubt it but with GPU prices where they are 4080s are almost as expensive as 5080s, so I have no idea what a 3090 would cost.
>>
>>109265929
5060Ti 8GB exists, but it shouldn't.
>>
>>109265952
well it took them like two gens to beat a 3070ti

I'm so lazy that I'm thinking of a tossing a 5070Ti in with my 5700X3D and just be done with it instead of a full AM5 upgrade.
>>
>>109265949
im not sure like i said im not buying anything other than waht i listed and have the rest already im just trying to make the machine smaller cause right now its in a hyte y60 and tkes up loads of room and i want something more console like
>>
>>109265929
>>109265952
Based on what I can find on prices, everything worth buying right now is roughly $1,000 to $2,000.
I already spent $1,250 on a 5080 but I could cancel it and just live with the 3070 Ti until the 5080 Super comes out, or I could just buy the 5080 now. That's the decision I'm making. If I live with the 3070 Ti I do save quite a bit of money in preparation for the 5080.

i should probably update my bios on my asrock b650m hdv/m.2 but i can't be bothered to re do all my ram tuning and fan tuning settings. it sucks that updating the bios wipes your saved presets

Is Debian fine for gaming, or do I really need those gaming-flavored distros like Bazzite?

the big difference e is those come preconfigured while you will need to configure Debian for it yourself

I'm thinking of upgrading my 13600KF to a ultra 270K plus because on paper it looks really appealing (95% workstation performance of an 9950X and 85% the gaming performance of an X3D cpu at 440 leafbux)

Is there any problems with the 270K plus?

a rough approximation of my current computer:
potential parts to build a new pc with:
aiming for a good gaming rig where I can run some high performance games (i.e. Cyberpunk 2077) in 1440p well. Support for Ray-tracing would be good, but idgaf about DLSS or any other memes like that. I this a good build for that, especially compared to my current pc? I figured it's a pretty decent deal to get a straight upgrade in nearly every way for only a $100 increase in price (might actually be about the same since my current is a pre-built).
>budget
idk 2k i guess, but i was going to wait and see if prices dropped in a couple of months tbqh.

arctic alpine 23 cpu cooler on 9800x3d
9060xt 16gb to 3060ti 8gb
thermaltake smart 600 psu
switching ram from 5200 cl40 to 4800 cl40
yeah this is beyond retarded and an ai could do a better job

like I said, i got my lists mixed-up in the original post. It's all supposed to be reversed, like:
>12700 -> 9800x3d
>3060ti -> 9060xt
etc.
>arctic alpine 23 cpu cooler on 9800x3d
>thermaltake smart 600 psu
to be perfectly honest I went with the cheapest options on both of these. Like i said i'm new to pc-building so i was hoping to see if these were bad ideas before going through with it.
>>
>>109266508
get a seasonic g12 750w psu (if it has to be cheap) because that thermaltake one is going to take your whole system with it when it blows up
get a better case and a better cpu cooler that is going to fit in it
you can get a dual tower thermalright phantom spirit for like 30 to 40 bux
that cpu is also way to much for only a 9060xt (get a cheaper one and a 9070 or 9070xt even)
>>

TPM can outright replace Denuvo while having zero performance impact and they know it. Just like play integrity+ app integrity, there's no point in denuvo once TPM is obnoxious enough.
