/iemg/ Dogma Check
Tired of the hivemind? Here’s your prescribed sanity dose:

>Crinacle is not your priest.
Rankings are a guide, not divine scripture. Your ears > his spreadsheet.

>Harman and JM-1 ≠ perfect.
It’s a preference curve, not a law of physics. Some genres need deviation.

>Chi-Fi isn’t magic.
Great value, yes. Immune to QC issues and hype cycles? Nope.

>Graphs are not sound.
They don’t show staging, dynamics, or fit. Use your ears, not just squigs.

>BA ≠ metallic, DD ≠ perfect.
Implementation matters more than driver type. Always has.

>Meme sets aren’t the whole hobby.
If it’s not shilled 24/7, it might still be good. It's highly encouraged to form an original opinion.

>Disagreeing ≠ cope or deaf.
Let people like what they like without foaming at the mouth.

>Loud posts =/= smart takes.
Confidence without experience is just noise. Show graphs, impressions, or both.

This has been your scheduled break from pos groupthink.

I don't like IEMs that much. For me quality headphones > IEMs. Iems always sound like music is played thru some sort of brain implant directly inside my brain.
For that one reason of music playing away from your ears I like headphones much more.

both headphones and IEMs are diffuse field devices meaning they play directionless sound anything else you might imagine is delusions or brain damage
>>
Niggas be listening to treble ear rape at high volume and then complain it sounds in your head.
>>
>>109322400
i think my outer ears have so much effect on what i hear that simply bypassing them doesn't work for me. Even if iem has good sound stage it just sound like my brain is trying to imagine that soundstage instead of hearing it, with headphones and more with speaker i can hear more of that sound playing in physical space outside my head
>>
>>109322464
speakers have soundstage because they are physically at a distance from you so you are getting normal positional queues from them. With headphones there are no normal positional queues so they have no soundstage. At all.
>i think my outer ears have so much effect on what i hear that simply bypassing them doesn't work for me.
I mean IEMs are more or less tuned for average listener so it can be the case that they simply do not produce the sound your brain expects. This just like everything else can be fixed with EQ

If answer for natural sound is just sound waves going thru your own ear before hitting eardrum headphones are simply far superior to any iems. I could even say that due to that idea of in ear monitors are deeply flawed and that's why EQ cope is so present in this general. For over ear headphones u simply don't need it because everything going thru your ear anatomy, everything sound normal and FR charts are just different flavors or sound. With IEMs u have to cope with EQ because everything seems so fake and unnatural, u just searching for your own ear anatomy FR with EQ corrections.
Answer to your third world problem is simple, just buy over ear headphones or speakers.
EQ community solved
>>
>>109322974
>headpos user still thinks headpos perfectly interact with the outer ear
alrighty im making an hpg thread
>>
>>109322974
>For over ear headphones u simply don't need it because everything going thru your ear anatomy
wrong
if anything ears introduce more variations... and even when HRTF is accounted for headphones themselves act differently on different heads. So yeah you still need EQ
>>
>>109323061
>you still need EQ
why? why should it matter when all someone should care about is enjoying sound without everything needing to be "correct" before hitting play?
>>
xisters...he thinks he's enjoying himself...
>>
>>109323061
>>109323004
No no, Im not talking about fr charts, if it's fucked straight from factory it's fucked. But for over ear that sound have to pass thru your outer ears, inner straight to your eardrum. So u basically have custom EQ profile on top of it, tailored by your own ears. Headphones can sound bad or good but what u hear was already mangled by your own ears so it's that much more natural for you even if it's still sounds bad
With IEMs u don't have that, u have hope that factory target and chat gpt designed crossover circuit will emulate influence of your very own ears as close as possible. We know that this isn't usually the case so you have to twist that sound more and more with EQ so u maybe, just maybe get it right and your brain will recognize in this fakery our own ears.
And your endless pursuit of new targets, new research papers and so on is because u simply don't know how to add to that EQ equation your own ears fr. U don't have means to reliably measure it so u hope that next hyped target will be ideal for you so you finaly can hear impact of your own ears.

No joking, it's like trying to emulate owen baked pizza with best ingredients and microwave and answer is simple, just use owen (full size headphones)
>>
>>109323139
I literally explained why to you retard

why are you trying to invent the wheel? that's not how these things work.
headphones can have FR just as fucked as IEMs there's no difference.
>No joking
yeah I know
that's the saddest part
>>
>>109323184
Maybe it's mangled, maybe it sound bad, maybe it's not so nice looking on chink 711 knockoff chart. But it is your very own, unique you you.
You can't emulate that with retarded crossover circuits, 10 drivers cope and endless EQ tweaks.
And what if headphones have pretty fr chart, oh boy, with your own custom EQ done by your ears they sound like heaven
>>
>>109323227
headpos will never have a good fr chart because the custom eq from your ears will always be a fucked mutation of what you have so you still need eq
not to mention that every time you put the headpos on, you have a completely different fr chart that is equally as bad
headpos need eq the most but are gimped by design, unsalvageable pos
>>
>>109323221
>let's avoid FR effects of person's outer ear and then try to emulate this effect (with varying degrees of success) with few drivers, crossovers, filters and EQ
IEMs are trying to reinvent the wheel
>>
>>109323250
>custom eq from your ears will always be a fucked mutation of what you have so you still need eq
u hear that EQ every day of ur life, for u its just how sound sound like
>>
>>109323263
you struggle to understand because you're retarded
headpos will not apply this custom eq correctly, there are very large deviation from the custom eq you are used to hearing
headpos will not apply the custom eq you hear every day in the same way as speakers do, it's a more fucked up custom eq that is just as bad if not worse than the no custom eq of iems
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrLrfDP-Mo
>>
In 2077 iem jeets are cutting off ears and EQing hearing aid iems to newest industry standard target Harman 2077 so they can hear everything as neutral as possible without interference of fucked up mutation of their own ears.
>>
>>109323263
retard
this shit applies to speakers not to headpos
you are so fucking STUPID
>>
Headpos is like listening to speakers in an anechoic chamber. No matter what angle the driver is at it's unnatural. For natural sound you need to emulate sound from every direction at once. That's diffuse field. Having one of the directions baked in is counterproductive for this. The only thing headpos has going for it is it preserves the fundamental ear canal resonance frequency, blocked ear canal doubles it so the fundamental must be guessed from the average and recreated with tuning. The result is better mids but worse treble. Some treble frequencies on headpos are actually completely destroyed and can't be EQd.

there is literaly no such things even if you blow 5K on it, or at least when it comes to smooth treble, especialy when you take into account HRTF that would make even a 100% smooth headphone, not smooth whatsoever.

still, doesn't mean you can't EQ the peaks by ear.

So inefficient. Just a get a head implant that plays music directly to your brain cells
>>
the FR guys are right, the only reason i and others disagree with him is because theyre insufferable assholes
that being said i have since EQed my hexa to sound almost identical to my Hype 4s, i wish i had known about this a year ago
>>
>>109327462
no you should just buy good speakers
>>
i eq'd my anko earbuds to sound like immanis, even danny was blown away by how indistinguishable it sounds.

EQ Guide won.

if you can, then prove it with box conduction

>an FR graph says what about how high or narrow or wide an IEM will be
Currently there's no good understanding what exactly in FR influences imaging. Most like it's treble composition... and treble measurements are not really reliable. Also it's not something universal.
>how could I readily cross-reference that every time I want to compare wide imaging to other headphones and IEMs
I don't think it's really possible with current tech. You can try to look up 5128 measurements of something you already know has good imaging and try to find something with similar looking FR.
>>
>>109327759
now it's just FR at the cochlea instead of FR at the eardrum.
doesn't matter it's still FR there is no magic involved.
and also, i do not care about conduction iems.
>>
>>109327764
>Currently there's no good understanding what exactly in FR influences imaging
we don't know exactly what does it but we know it's in the FR.

it's like if you had some software that allowed you to edit face proportions, we do not have an "attractiveness" slider, but we know that with the right slider settings you can make any face shape.
>>
>>109327764
>>109327790
also imaging is not "universal" some people will find that some headphones have good imagine and someone else will find that the same headphone doesn't because hrtf.
>>
guys, new meta just dropped ! ! post FR at the cochlea
>>
>>109327796
FR at the eardrum is still the meta because conduction iems are kind of trash.
>>
>>109327777
still FR at the eardrum, middle ear doesn't matter, same across everything
also
nice quads
>>109327790
a mix of FR and other external shit like fit, isolation, etc
>>109327794
it's not universal because the definition of imaging is loose and descriptive rather than prescriptive
>>109327796
posting FR at my balls, had to zoom out a lot
>>
IEM with best imaging I have is unironically wyvern black remastered
>>
>>109327759
>then prove it with box conduction
literaly no iems results in any meaningful amount of noise on the box.
kek
>>
my gf can eq my dick all she wants, but tyrone's techs are just better.
>>
Bone conduction of any kind in normal-wear IEMs is a very minor gimmick at best.
If you don't understand why, don't bother, you're NGMI.
>>
>>109318280
i'd realy like the chifi market to start making open ear and bone conduction iems.
>>
>>109328305
the fuck is open ear IEM?
>>
>>109328322
out ear monitors. read a book.
>>
>>109328322
yea i guess it should be called cems and oems, still conduction is through bone conduction, open ear means it's basicaly tiny speakers in front of your ear but nothing goes in.
>>
>>109325686
No clue about bluetooth kit, but why not just get a tws if you are looking for portability. Cheap tws like space travels

Are your shitbud EQ setups next level? Or still chasing the rabbit of non-existent perfect EQ settings instead of buying something good from factory (HD 480 Pro)

Headpos is always 15dB off from whatever the manufacturer intended, especially closebacks.

Pizzo is not ready to hear that cheap IEMs are objectively better than expensive IEMs even without EQ.

Is the HiBy R1 HiFi worth it?
Its like $60 right now, and I lost a cheaper MP3 Player and want to replace it with a slightly more premium1...Do any anons here own the HiBy R1? And how has it heldup long-term? Does it still work?

Intended use is music, and audiobooks (maybe podcasts).

Are those some Xreal glasses, foxfag? Or some other kind of AR glasses? I bought some Xreal One Pros or some shit when I was drunk and I've only used them a few times to watch movies.

Rayneo air 4 pro.

What do you use them for? Gaming? Movies?
>>
>>109329263
Yes. I can wear them for hours unlike VR stuff.
>>
>>109329282
is it work like vr or more like really big TV in front of you?
I am skeptical about using the screen so close to my eye, I have the impression that in the long run it will turn into vision problems

>>109329099
yeap, its ok, with more powerfull OS than cheaper stuff. Keep in mind it still slow af and far from Android DAPs user experience. Also u have to check if it works with audiobooks (so if its there any problems with larger files or resuming where u left, probably someone on reddit already answered that)
>>
>>109329314
Like a big TV, and the focus point is so far that it unfucks my pseudomyopia.

Looks like the mesh filter thingy of my tangzu waner 2 is a little recessed for the left side. Right side is completely flat and fine.
Is this an issue I need to fix?

Just buy new 5usd shitbud and EQ that sister
>>
>>109326662
My YouTube front page is full of AI drum and bass videos with asian girls in the thumbnail
>>
>>109328485
Thanks. I will try that.

My IEM is AI generated patten
>>
My EQ is AI generated Storm curve
>>
Has anyone here actually compared 5usd shitbud EQed to storm target with actuall storm and can confirm that they actually sound the same?
Crashing this audiophile plane... with no survivors
Or everyone is too poor for that
>>
>>109330951
>Has anyone here actually compared 5usd shitbud EQed to storm target with actuall storm and can confirm that they actually sound the same
I can confirm that 5usd shitbud EQed to a "storm target" will not sound the same as actual storm
>>
>>109330951
The $5 shitbud sounds much better due to lower distortion, no compression and IR unmolested by inductors and capacitors.
>>
>>109323486
>headpos try and fail to improve on flawed 600 series for years constantly rising prices

and the best part it's not even shitposting

>>109325024
BCDs barely do anything, but vibration drivers are genuinely non-eqable. They behave in an almost on/off manner. Grab cvj luki to check it out.

Ok indog. Keep telling yourself that and enjoy your 7hz Zero lmfao

Still waiting for pics of actual Storm side by side with random plastic iem from chyna and actual sound impressions.
Does anyone can confirm that shitbud actually sound like storm just by applying few tweaks.

>>109331035
Unlike with iems there is only 1 company that is scamming people with new stuff -chinkfiman. Headphones are long solved by reputable brands from Germany and Japan

Storm will sound better because it is heavier.
Massmaxx bros on top.

Why does Storm sound the best?

Would you believe me if I told you both 7Hz Zero and Chu 2 measure with much higher distortion if you take off the THICK paper filter they have? You can cheat on THD with this testing methodology. This fact mindbreaks the distortionzos.
>>
>>109331764
>if you break the IEM it distorts more
Amazing discovery, frogzo, keep it up.
>>
>>109331764
The distortion also increases if you have a bad seal. Is this cheating as well?
