In the crisis of everything related to ai, chips, fabs its getting kinda weird how EU isnt in part of anything
They're not responsible for consuming the chips. USA and China is.
They're not making the chips South korea, Usa, China make them.
They're not designing the things making or consuming chips. USA, China handles that. They dont even need EU talent, china has 100x AI engineers vs what Europe might produce.
They just exist, out there, somewhere.
ASML is being sad USA doesn't let them sell machines to China, promoting them designing their own machines on an accelerated schedule. USA simply didnt license some EUV tech to anyone else letting asml have a monopoly.

They're just a dead continent. If Europe disappeared tomorrow no one would notice.

I'm back >>109311437
Steam OS actually installed just fine on my computer. I used Gaming Mode briefly just to handle updates and the shortcut keys for the client, but the rest of the setup has been handled purely by Desktop Mode. Steam Deck really has been what's holding it back, it's a much better experience using Steam OS on actual good hardware (even if my desktop's a few years old now).
These are the issues I've had so far:
>Xbox One USB dongle doesn't work. I did see some github solutions for that, though.
>Motherboard Bluetooth doesn't work. I don't know why, probably something W11 screwed up.
>Apparently Linux doesn't like having multiple hard drives, I have to manually re-mount my other hard drives every time to access them. I'm currently wasting a bunch of time having to move 80TB+ around to slowly convert each one from NTFS to ext4, which seems to be the file format that SteamOS will actually keep mounted.
>Every time I turn either of my monitors on it makes a sound like I just plugged in a USB or something, which is annoying. I also can't get it to save the wallpaper, it keeps defaulting back to the stock one.
>Some of the applications I usually rely on don't have a Linux version or equivalent. Things like CDisplayEx, Microcock Office (I refuse to use the incompatible, watered-down alternatives), etc. I also haven't tried GoG and other non-Steam games yet. I don't trust heroic launcher because it wants your login information, so I'm gonna try to have those games manually installed with a proton layer and without needing to add them to Steam.
It sucks having to figure all this stuff out, but I am enjoying the experience so far. It's just the parts that aren't 1:1 with Windows that'll take some time to understand.

I have 4x32gb (128gb) of ddr4 ram that I bought just before the rampocolypse. which is 2 64gb kits.
I have a 10900 cpu and 64gb of the ram installed right now on a MSI MAG B560M MORTAR board, it can't handle the full 128gb.
I am considering buying a 14900 and a top of the line Z series board to install all 128gb of it. Anything I should keep in mind before going ahead with this? what is the absolute best board for my ram? I am only doing this to mess around with ai video creation. i'm assuming ram prices for 128bg of ddr5 is going to be insane for MANY many years.

Europe brought this into itself. EU countries started closing factories and industries since 90s. They moved everything to China, Indian Sirs etc. because muh labour costs. So they ruined their social structures and gave away knowledge for free to have stuff cost few cents less. So it ended in case somewhere in 2017/18 when there was shortage of several medicines in yurop, because China has closed one old factory and there was a week delay before they opened new one. EU supported for years retarded climatic programs and has fought irrational war on energy, with germoney closing its nuclear plants being most retarded thing. They threw money apart, financing stupid projects, like building bike paths in villages or building aquaparks in every commune, financed gender studies or other waste of money studies, instead of real academics. real innovations. Now the EU countries are ruining its own people by sending endless streams of money to ukraine, where all that money is laundered and stolen. And the list goes on.
So you end in situation where there are absurdly high energy prices, high labour costs, so it's not sustainable to produce anything in EU, and even if you wanted to, probably most of the educated people left over to work on other continents. So you can just remember how many great brands and firms we have and how great they were 30-40 years ago, while the new Chinese or American brands are bringing in real innovation and new products.
>>
>>109321590
I'm not sure if that's the original quote.

>>109321090
They were late into the ray tracing game so it will be a while before they catch up, the 9070xt is a good start and I expect rdna5 to be much better. For so it has taken them a while ot cath up as well, they're now in their 4th(?) gen and are finally offering something decently competitive in the market with the mi350 and the future mi450.
>>
>>109319951
EU is more busy pushing total surveillance to keep their elite safe when shit eventually hits the fan. The fact that they thought America would follow their data privacy laws in regards to cloud and other things under Biden just to notice once the coin flipped the side that they didn't give a flying fuck all along is still hilarious.

Hwbuster did a test and they say yes it works but no idea. Corsair had some cable too but not sure if it also requires some special PSU.

If you like the design & airflow of all of those options, decide based on their front I/O panel location (power button, USB ports, etc.)
207's front I/O is at the top of the case.
217 at the side and an extra power button at the top.
4000D RS's front I/O is at the bottom.

It's actually +2 cores for the 5800X3D if you just care about gaming (6 cores per 3900X CCD vs 8 cores + 3D VCache on 5800X3D).

the link you posted is about an ASUS gimmick on their early x870 and higher boards where you don't have a secondary button to unlock the card but instead could lift it up in the right angle to auto unlock it. The metal part of the PCIe slot on the motherboard however can wear off or chip the PCIe connector on the GPU. My GPU has slight cosmetic damage cause of this which is why I sold my x870e hero board and I'm not surprised ASUS went back to a button on their refresh boards.

Dear monitor autists, I was checking out the recent reviews for the new RGB Stripe QD-OLED panel and noticed this:
https://www.displayninja.com/msi-mpg-341cqr-qd-oled-x36-review/#Color_Gamut
Even for the latest gen of the tech they apparently still don't reach 100% coverage of the sRGB Gamut. What gives that they can't muster the last 0.4%?

Some last-gen QD-OLED panels manage more color representation for REASONS?
https://www.displayninja.com/msi-mpg-271qr-qd-oled-x50-review/

And apparently this is true for a lot of monitors and some LCDs can get to 100% ARGB Gamut. I thought OLED was suppose to totally mog LCD so:
1. Why don't we always have 100% guaranteed coverage of a color space created back in 1999 yet?
2. Related to #1, is it just an artifact of how reviewers measure color on displays?
3. Does color gamut capacity vary from panel to panel even for the same model?
4. When are we gonna get 100% DCI-P3 & ARGB Gamut OLED monitors?
I want to look at memes and HDR video and see all of their colors intact damn it.

>>109325961
The IODie adds randomness to the overall CPU binning, it's two rolls (CCD + IOD) for the whole pacakge.
You can get a 9850X3D with an above average CCD, but it's stuck at 2100MHz FCLK.
Some people prefer to get a Ryzen CPU with the better binned IOD.
>>
>>109325967
>What gives that they can't muster the last 0.4%?
It's probably a factory calibration + sRGB mode emulation issue than a physical limitation.
It takes more effort to guarantee more accurate color reproduction, not worth it for a gaming monitor.

You don't use DCI-P3 preset to watch HDR content when you enable HDR on Windows.
The monitor automatically switches to BT.2020 mode if it's capable (OLED monitors do this) when HDR is toggled on.
The monitor’s job in Windows HDR mode is to execute the metadata sent by the OS, and this is why Windows HDR Calibration app is important (+ game HDR tone mapping fixes like RenoDx).

These cheaper OLED monitors will have SDR brightness capped @ 200 nits vs 250, which is something to consider (not necessarily a deal breaker).
Ones like Samsung G50SF use a matte coating, and some people prefer OLED displays to have a glossy panel finish.

If you want a glossy version of the same QD-OLED panel (200 nits SDR peak brightness), pay $50 more for the ROG XG27AQDMESZ.
Some people are reporting bugs with proximity sensor and shit, I'd probably disable that anyway.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/1uliwsf/is_the_asus_rog_strix_xg27aqdmesz_for_350_at/
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/1uluhls/monitor_asus_rog_strix_oled_27_1440p_gaming/

Your experience with these OLED depends on how much you play HDR media, and how quickly you get over the text fringing issues (some can't get past it & return).
MiniLED have their own quirks, do thorough research when you're monitor shopping.
>>
>>109326941

how well does the 9070 xt do 4k? been thinking of scaling up my elden ring runs to 32" from 27" for quite some time now
>>
>>109327861
Thanks, I'll look into them since I'm planning to build next year and I'd rather have decent heatsinks on my RAM then better RGB.
>>
>>109327879
4k without ray tracing you can easily max out the fps(else ring is capped at 60fps). With ray tracing enabled at 4k it will dip into the 40s and 50s in demanding areas and you'll have to use upscaling to get solid 60fps
>>
>>109327885
Fyi g.skill has bad heatsinks in general. They intentionally don't cool the hottest part of the ddr5 ram which is the PMIC that steps down 5v to 1.1v with the intention to prioritize ram chip temps but it backfires on them since pcbs are good conductors of heat which makes their ram run pretty warm
If you want functional heatsinks, get something without RGB, with metal heatsinks and something that has a thermal pad for the pmic like Kingston furies, teamgroup t-create expert etc.

>Chey warned that prolonged high semiconductor prices could harm domestic semiconductor companies. If companies keep raising prices without building new factories, the market will shrink, and new players will inevitably enter."

>it's twice the steam of the gabecube
Do people not realize that the point of the gabecube is to make a pc that functions like a console? It needs to be compact enough to fit in peoples entertainment centers and it needs to not overheat if someone decides to play it in 110 degree weather with no air conditioning inside of a closet. All of these "here's you can build a better pc for less" videos are completely missing the point. Valve does not want you to buy a gabecube if you're already an enthusiast building your own desktop pcs because you're already buying games from steam. They want people who are not pc gamers to buy it because they means they gained a new customer that would've otherwise been spending money on sony's store instead. It's part of why they won't subsidize it, because if they did then a bunch of people who already buy steam games would buy it and every console sold would just be an unrecoverable loss.

Not the memory encryption thing, I meant the one which has something to do with being able to only refresh a section of the memory in order to read it, rather than refreshing the whole rank at once. Yeah, I think everybody has had similiar style at some point. But the particular creative labs that I own now are on a totally diferent level. Super loud. They've got that low range boom. I wanted something smaller and less wires than going all out dolby 5.1 w/ subwoofer and all that. I kind of got lucky. So the story is that I went down to the microcenter to get a different pair (that looked exactly the same) and noticed the model that I actually ended up buying was locked up in the cage and cost $30 more than the ones I went to microcenter to get. I think they were $139 or something like that... Anyhow. I took a risk knowing that only the good shit is locked up in the cage so I impulse bought those caged ones instead. Amazing. I would check the model number on them but i have them with my gaming PC which I have inawoods. yeah I game inawoods. I know this sounds like bullshit but I know anons are smart enough to smell a true story.

i just wanted a very very wide sound stage because those valve index headphones/ speakers after using iems and close back headphones made me reconsider my headphone choices. i think there are like three or four studio headphones that every one has which have been produced for like for ever. i think some hd, sony and some other ones. i might get some of those too some day just to see what "good enough" for studio sounds like. going back to close back also made be disoriented in some fps games.

Should I upgrade my CPU on LGA 1700? I currently have an i5 12400, Asrock H670m Pro RS, 64GB DDR4 3200, 750W PSU, and an RX 7800xt. I want to stretch the longevity of that system a bit, because prices are fucked. I am now thinking of upgrading to a 14600kf or 14700f. The difference between these 2 is around 110 bucks. I mostly play strategy and old solo FPS games (Warhammer Total War 3, Stellaris, SWEAT, CP2077, and Bethesda stuff) on a 3440x1440 60hz screen.
