Why the self-inflicted misery?
You can just run apt install luajit lua-socket lua-copas and write a simple http server yourself, then serve it behind nginx or caddy. Or do the equivalent in whatever language you want, like python, java, ruby, fucking LISP or whatever you want, you don't have to do this.

I don't think freebsd allows slop
>>
>>109381882
>most programmers hate programming
Most programmers enjoy writing interesting solutions, scaling, solving complex problems. But 90% of programming is not that - it’s boilerplate slop, unit tests, APIs and interfaces.

Traditional software architect can do fuck all, then review a couple of PR’s and say “no we don’t want X, we actually want Y” and have a huge impact on the outcome.
Now every tier of developer needs to be their own architect.

Writing code was always a means to an end as part of the overall engineering process, and now AI allows non-engineers to write code. The same thing is happening to art communities. People who are really talented at drawing or painting are now finding any idiot off the street can generate "beautiful" images with a few words.

I don't understand the morality grandstanding. It's a tool. You don't see carpenters who make handmade furniture losing their shit over construction crews building homes with power tools.

That doesn't make it inherently unethical, and failure on your part to adapt to change doesn't mean the rest of the world should reject new tools or technologies.

AI is the future. AGI and ASI will be here in a matter of months.
You either hop on the rocketship now or die an undignified death on Earth. The humanity you knew before is over.

That's incorrect. AGI has only been a predicted topic since Claude came onto the scene. The latest Fable model is expected to be the launchpad for AGI. The model is already out in very restricted availability.
Anyone with access to Fable knows the trajectory we are on. Impeccable quality at superhuman speeds. Almost no mistakes. It's already solving math problems which have existed for centuries.
You need to understand that old humanity is over. This is an epoch shift of the scale of BC to AD.
>>
>>109381867
There's been a question stirring in the back of my mind for a few years now. I dared not ask it because everyone was hyped on the novelty of AI. Saying the question would be as useless as a fart in the wind. It's the kind of thing that can only be asked once the novelty effect of AI has worn off for people.

If AI can't make new and original things, and in the future everyone uses AI for everything, then in the future will there be nothing that is new, novel, or original? Does human creativity die? You guys claim the opposite of AI slop is "hand crafted" shit to be sold on Etsy, but this is wrong.
The opposite to AI slop is anything with novelty.

Did you know Portugal was once a global power?
Now the country is completely irrelevant. No cultural exports. No significant contributions to modern humanity.
I'm assuming you are American. This is your countries exact trajectory because of attitudes like yours. Run away from fate at your own peril.
Asia is rising and it will be many millennia before we come back down.
>>
>>109384656
nta, but bro you're on the side of turbo lefties that believe AI is going to drain the ocean of all the water.
>>
I think a big part of the pain of AI is most people admitting that everything was already slop. Literally 99% of things that could be consumed, pre-AI, was/is/are pure slop, made by slop mongers. Which is why so many people are randomly pivoting to a secular religionist argument, where anything created by a human hand was/is imbued with something unquantifiable and grand, e.g., "soul." Full on atheists now reach for spiritual arguments to justify their existence, lol.
>>
>>109382482
>this is like getting mad at compiled code because it was not real code written by a human but by gcc o algo

compilers are deterministic, you NEET, and they don't add things to or modify the logic you precisely declare.
>>
>>109384730
>anything created by a human hand was/is imbued with something unquantifiable and grand, e.g., "soul."

It's simple really.
>a picture is worth a thousand words
>art speaks to the soul in a way words alone never can
>AI art can only ever say precisely what you type in the prompt, never more than that, but often much much less
Do you truly still not understand?
>>
>>109384822
Wouldn't that just make AI the extension of our soul?
We're only capable of making whatever it is our hands allow us to make. I can want to paint in the style of French impressionist all I want, but I can't literally do that so it's irrelevant.
But AI can.
>>
>>109384716
>Muh politics.
I accept your concession. Back to bootlicking with you.
>>
how tf are people still doing programming? I left that industry 6 months ago and never looked back
>>
>>109384822
Okay so what branch of Abrahaism did that come from? Why do you think it's okay to retreat into mysticism? Why can't you stay grounded in quantifiable things? The reason is because there simply is no difference between the abject slop that people were already shitting out, whether it was art or prose or code, but I'm curious.
>>
>>109384746
I keep seeing people (even supposedly educated computer scientists) call LLMs non-deterministic and I don't understand why.
You wouldn't call a pseudorandom number generator non-deterministic just because the seed is opaque to you.
>>
>>109381867
It was all slop before AI existed, that's why you need 4 whole gigabytes of memory just to check your emails. Everything is trash shit garbage slop, whether an ai is involved or not.

I personally don't give a fuck about end products, I'm a senior C++ swe, millions use my sofware daily, I could not care less, not my company, not my problem, issues can wait for me to catch up or else what, they're going to fire me? I don't give a fuck, I'll find another monkey shop to hire me under a month, AI or not.
I like the process of building stuff so that's what I'll do until no (((overlords))) want to hire me anymore.

also reminder that you don't have to join the rat race, most devs are morons and hate their jobs, no amount of tool-assisted programming will make them write better software than you.
fagman spent trillions on these tools and anyone with experience can still spot the slop, I don't know how long it will last but I'll wait until i'm forced to use them to quit the field altogether, it's not it's hard to find a job if you aren't a fucking retard, it's easy to join the top 0.1% of any field given how bad at their job most people are.

Not really...out of the workday how much time is spent actually programming? Maybe 10%-30%. I still enjoy the actually programming part of "programming", it's the rest of the shit that gets tiresome.
Which is why I find it so hilariously stupid that any skilled programmer would want to use AI to do the programming part of programming; that's the only good part. And furthermore AI can't program better than a good programmer.
