Is there any way to test if your pc is causing power surges/outages? I reset up my itx pc the other day and my power flickered on like 3 or 4 different occasions throughout the week. My full sized atx build is way more powerful than it with an even larger watt power supply and the power has never flickered while using it.
Dunno whether to think it was a coincidence or if it actually was the itx pc.

I plan on upgrading when Zen 6 comes out
But considering how prices just keep on going up, I'm thinking I should probably just start buying RAM right away whenever I can.
At this rate memory will cost double when Zen 6 is out.

AMD has officially unveiled its entry-level desktop graphics card, the Radeon RX 9050. The company has published all the specifications for the new card, as well as the results of its own gaming benchmarks at 1080p.

The Radeon RX 9050 has a stated power consumption of 92W. A 450W or higher power supply is recommended. The card is powered by a single 8-pin connector.

The Radeon RX 9050 features a GPU with 16 execution units (EUs), 12 fewer than the RX 9060. It boasts 1,024 stream processors (compared to 1,792 on the RX 9060), 16 ray tracing acceleration units, and 32 AI accelerators. The chip has a game clock of 1,920 MHz and a boost clock of 2,600 MHz. In FP32 operations, the video card provides performance of 10.6 Tflops.

I'm looking to build a 16 player Nucleus Coop rig for dark souls 1 tier graphics games. I think it may be possible with 8 gpus which means I need a threadripper for the necessary lanes. How important is l3 cache? Chatgpt says I could have problems with cache thrashing even if I have enough cores. Also, most mobos have 7 pcie16 slots max. I could use 8 x8 slots or more with a pro threadripper since most pcie5.0 gpus can only utilize half the bandwidth.

How are multi monitor setups still such a flawed and buggy mess all these years later, I swear to fucking god. You run a game borderless fullscreen and if your scaling is higher than 100% in the windows display settings then it runs the game at the scaled resolution and not the actual resolution. You run the game full screen and the rendered resolution is correct but either the game window bleeds out to the other displays or completely rearranges every window on the other monitors. You run a video full screen on another monitor and it causes artifacting issues or some sort of lag or tearing.
I'm about to just run one monitor and use a tablet for anything else I need. What a fucking joke.
>>
>>109396322
one workaround is using the display out on your motherboard for the secondary monitor
>>
Just for gaming, is the stock AMD cooler more than enough for a 9600? The PC is not going to be that close to me either, like 2m away from me when playing if that matters for noise.

You need to share the specs of your existing CPU, memory (XMP/DOCP speed & timings), and motherboard to help us assess whether you just need to upgrade the CPU or the entire platform.
If you need to buy into a DDR5 platform, look for deals that bundle the memory kit.

14900K & 14700K should only be recommended to people who's willing to update & customize BIOS settings (set stricter VR voltage limits, lower PL1 if needed, and adjust CPU AC/DC LL + VR LLC if they're willing to go into that rabbit hole).
The value proposition for these chips are gone since Intel raised prices.

If you want to go AMD instead, the Ryzen 9 9900X is the closest equivalent to the 270k plus but its worse in multicore. Both require ddr5 ram so you cant avoid getting fucked.
>>
>>109397914
Intel changed their naming schemes last year or the year before, so what used to be i3, i5, i7, i9 are now Core ultra 3, Core ultra 5, Core ultra 7, Core ultra 9. The intel 270k plus is a core ultra 7 cpu and is the latest generation of intel cpu's. The 250k is the core ultra 5 of their latest generation.
>>
>>109397914
It's very confusing, so that makes sense. Intel processors have three or four tiers per generation, generally delineated into 3, 5, 7, and 9 class cpus, with bigger number being better. Within those, bigger number also = better cpu.
Suffixes that matter for pc builders are K, F, and T
K - unlocked
F - no on-board graphics
T - reduced power
>>
>>109397914
>>109397983
What makes arrow lake extra confusing is that there's now the mid-gen refreshes, which are about on par with the top spec of the next tier up, e.g. 270K plus ≈ 285K. Either of those can be argued to be "the best" current gen intel cpu.
>>
>>109397888

It's gonna be this, nvidia cards have bullshit TDP and put a massive strain on power supplies. An office PC isn't gonna have a PSU built for that. Unless the 5060Ti is really efficient compared to the 3060Ti and doesn't do the massive spike thing, which I doubt.

>>109398817
the 5060 ti has a TDP of 175 W, You can get away with it with a PSU of 500W but 600 -650 W is ideal. For the usecase though you only will have issue if you are running models were you are spilling it to the CPU or VRAM so you have to be more specific about usecase and how much ram will you have, for example if you have 64GB of ram you can just tell whatever bullshit to just use system ram and not your CPU and you would be fine.

>what can you run locally with 16gb
LTX 2.3, 12B Models,

>i want to run 30B LLM models
Then you'll need a 3090 or a 2nd 5060 ti

>i want to run video generation/train
For this you are stuck in a bad place, unlike for regular LLM chatbots and agentic shit you cant just simple add more 5060 ti's and run larger models but to be honest running anything like that locally is not recommended and there is no cheaper option you are stuck with a 3090 that has no fp8 acceleration, paying 2k for a 4090 or gambling with a 9700 XPRO for 2k too and having to deal with ROCCM

Thanks. Stable diffusion for image generation. I currently do it on my laptop with a 1660ti and 64GB RAM but it's slow which is why I want a box.

I was planning on getting a NAS too and I liked the case on this old HP SFF. I plan on putting a low profile 5060ti 8GB on it. I can get 64 GB of RAM. I just want it to generate images faster than my laptop.

I've seen videos of the 5060ti being put in old office PCs without a too big of a hit for gaming but I'm not sure about AI.

If you are running for AI then unfortunately you will need a 16gb variant which cost almost double especially for image generation, But the good news is that for image generation 16gb is the sweet spot so you'll get something that can actually run the good, at that price point you may unironically be better looking a 12 gb 3060 which should cost similar if thats your only use case but it will be quite slower for gaming so it depends on your budget and use case

Buy a PSU with more wattage headroom then turn the zero-fan mode on, the PSU will probably never spin its fan even if you play games or stress your PC some other way. My Montech Titan Gold 850W starts its fan only when my 9070XT asks for extra ~200W when I launch a game, but even at that point I hear only CPU fans spinning.
>>
>>109399372
I upsized from an NR200 when I upgraded my GPU and PSU in november. I just didn't want to shell out extra for a new 750w sfx PSU to power my new 9070xt when I could snag a good 1000w ATX psu and case for about the same price. (Montec Century II and Jonsbo d32 Pro). My PC is way quieter and cooler after transplanting my components to my new case. The cable management is better and I can fit four more case fans to run at lower rpm. If I could go back in time I'd tell myself to not pay the ITX tax and just build an M-ATX PC instead.

>Not him but I am also getting that case and 7 noctua fans.
The A3 is overhyped. It gets shilled unconsciously because it's popular, but it has a lot of pain points for a case that might be a deal breaker for people. Here's some that were definitely dealbreakers for me.
>No dedicated 3.5/2.5 drive space
>ITX tier cable management (none)
>Not particularly compact
>No cage to prevent PSU wires from touching the GPU and creating sag
>NO POWER LED
I searched and searched all the M-ATX options until I stumbled on the jonsbo d32 pro. It has a size adjustable back compartment for storing drives and routing cables, a shelf under the PSU to prevent cables from touching the GPU, a light on the power button, and It was barely bigger than my old NR200. I actually compared the dimensions on a site between all the cases before making my choice.
https://comparesizes.com/comparison/CM-NR200-vs-JONSBO-D32-PRO-vs-Lian-Li-A3-vs-ASUS-AP201/1785318342458

I'm not saying the A3 is bad, it's fine, but if you're shelling out close to 100 bucks for a case, then at least make sure you'll like it and that you like the look of it.

I can probably find a workaround for the cable management. drive space and no power led aren't relevant for my build. the lack of a cage or the PSU is concerning so I will just watch some build videos of people using it to get an idea. regarding dimensions, it was at the top in the matx list being one of the cases with the lowest liter value so honestly I'd just get an itx case if I wanted something even smaller. I appreciate the input tho. I will look into it

>>109400512
>regarding dimensions, it was at the top in the matx list being one of the cases with the lowest liter value
It's nowhere close to the lowest for an M-ATX case, the floor is 20 litters, since anything below that threshold is labeled SFF. The A3 is 26 liters, which is comfortably medium sized for an M-ATX case.
