Is there any way to test if your pc is causing power surges/outages? I reset up my itx pc the other day and my power flickered on like 3 or 4 different occasions throughout the week. My full sized atx build is way more powerful than it with an even larger watt power supply and the power has never flickered while using it.Dunno whether to think it was a coincidence or if it actually was the itx pc.

I'm looking to build a 16 player Nucleus Coop rig for dark souls 1 tier graphics games. I think it may be possible with 8 gpus which means I need a threadripper for the necessary lanes. How important is l3 cache? Chatgpt says I could have problems with cache thrashing even if I have enough cores. Also, most mobos have 7 pcie16 slots max. I could use 8 x8 slots or more with a pro threadripper since most pcie5.0 gpus can only utilize half the bandwidth.

>>109394279Also buyderize a blackwell 6000!
How are multi monitor setups still such a flawed and buggy mess all these years later, I swear to fucking god. You run a game borderless fullscreen and if your scaling is higher than 100% in the windows display settings then it runs the game at the scaled resolution and not the actual resolution. You run the game full screen and the rendered resolution is correct but either the game window bleeds out to the other displays or completely rearranges every window on the other monitors. You run a video full screen on another monitor and it causes artifacting issues or some sort of lag or tearing.I'm about to just run one monitor and use a tablet for anything else I need. What a fucking joke.
>>109396322one workaround is using the display out on your motherboard for the secondary monitor
Just for gaming, is the stock AMD cooler more than enough for a 9600? The PC is not going to be that close to me either, like 2m away from me when playing if that matters for noise.

>>109397914Intel changed their naming schemes last year or the year before, so what used to be i3, i5, i7, i9 are now Core ultra 3, Core ultra 5, Core ultra 7, Core ultra 9. The intel 270k plus is a core ultra 7 cpu and is the latest generation of intel cpu's. The 250k is the core ultra 5 of their latest generation.
>>109397914It's very confusing, so that makes sense. Intel processors have three or four tiers per generation, generally delineated into 3, 5, 7, and 9 class cpus, with bigger number being better. Within those, bigger number also = better cpu.Suffixes that matter for pc builders are K, F, and TK - unlockedF - no on-board graphicsT - reduced power
>>109397914>>109397983What makes arrow lake extra confusing is that there's now the mid-gen refreshes, which are about on par with the top spec of the next tier up, e.g. 270K plus ≈ 285K. Either of those can be argued to be "the best" current gen intel cpu.

For the usecase though you only will have issue if you are running models were you are spilling it to the CPU or VRAM so you have to be more specific about usecase and how much ram will you have, for example if you have 64GB of ram you can just tell whatever bullshit to just use system ram and not your CPU and you would be fine. >what can you run locally with 16gb LTX 2.3, 12B Models, >i want to run 30B LLM modelsThen you'll need a 3090 or a 2nd 5060 ti>i want to run video generation/trainFor this you are stuck in a bad place, unlike for regular LLM chatbots and agentic shit you cant just simple add more 5060 ti's and run larger models but to be honest running anything like that locally is not recommended and there is no cheaper option you are stuck with a 3090 that has no fp8 acceleration, paying 2k for a 4090 or gambling with a 9700 XPRO for 2k too and having to deal with ROCCM

I got $800 ram for $300 at microcenter today what do we think of that
>>109399112What was your hack?
>>109399116throwing $300 on the floor and then running out with the ram
>buy VESA™ certified™ DP2.1™ DP80™ cable for 20 bucks>no signal>use cable included with monitor>works fine
>>109399148two fifties and 2 hundreds: four on the floor
>>109399233Sometimes flipping the cable around fixes these issues, plugging in the other end. DVI/DP and HDMI are weird because of their specifications, the date of their manufacturing affects how they operate on some hardware.
>>109399116I went to microcenter and they have huge in person discounts. They’ll even price match Amazon which how I got an $80 arctic pro 3 420mm instead of the retail which is like $130
Since mkg isn’t going to help what do you guys think black or white caps
When high refresh rate monitors were less common, why was 144 the standard? I get it's divisible with 24, but wasn't that for movies? Were manufacturers expecting people to buy high refresh rate monitors to watch movies?
>i need more than a 5600xthe terminally online PCMR community are terminally delusional
>>109399029Intel CPU and Intel GPU would be the ideal combo

do small factor PSUs make considerably more noise?a silent pc is everything to me.
>>109399372a good one will run with the fan off at low load, and at high load you'll probably notice the other fans more
>>109399233I remember looking on Amazon for cables and the title showed vesa certified even though there doesn't seem to be any dp2.1 cables longer than 2m that have it. The title only had it cause their shorter cables were certified
>>109399291How much does a used 5600x go for these days
Should I backorder a monitor on newegg? It says the ETA is next week
>>109399372>a silent pc is everything to me.Probably shouldn't go small then.
>>109399372Buy a PSU with more wattage headroom then turn the zero-fan mode on, the PSU will probably never spin its fan even if you play games or stress your PC some other way. My Montech Titan Gold 850W starts its fan only when my 9070XT asks for extra ~200W when I launch a game, but even at that point I hear only CPU fans spinning.
>>109399372I upsized from an NR200 when I upgraded my GPU and PSU in november. I just didn't want to shell out extra for a new 750w sfx PSU to power my new 9070xt when I could snag a good 1000w ATX psu and case for about the same price. (Montec Century II and Jonsbo d32 Pro). My PC is way quieter and cooler after transplanting my components to my new case. The cable management is better and I can fit four more case fans to run at lower rpm. If I could go back in time I'd tell myself to not pay the ITX tax and just build an M-ATX PC instead.

well fellas i'm about to spend $920 on a new CPU, MB, and RAM and i need halp justifying it. i need it for my video editing and production as i'm taking it more seriously not just with my own personal projects but with prospective clients too. so i def need it. i was also gonna get an internal SSD nvme (however it goes lol)i'm this anon >>109396860anyway, someone push me to actually pull the trigger kek i've got it all in my cart on newegg

>>109400376zen7 is like 2035 why the fuck would you wait until there Maybe hey introduce X970 and X970e boards with Zen 6. If you are looking for new mobos.
Are they gonna call them B1050 or B950 boards?

>>109400240>Not him but I am also getting that case and 7 noctua fans. The A3 is overhyped. It gets shilled unconsciously because it's popular, but it has a lot of pain points for a case that might be a deal breaker for people. Here's some that were definitely dealbreakers for me.>No dedicated 3.5/2.5 drive space>ITX tier cable management (none)>Not particularly compact>No cage to prevent PSU wires from touching the GPU and creating sag>NO POWER LEDI searched and searched all the M-ATX options until I stumbled on the jonsbo d32 pro. It has a size adjustable back compartment for storing drives and routing cables, a shelf under the PSU to prevent cables from touching the GPU, a light on the power button, and It was barely bigger than my old NR200. I actually compared the dimensions on a site between all the cases before making my choice.https://comparesizes.com/comparison/CM-NR200-vs-JONSBO-D32-PRO-vs-Lian-Li-A3-vs-ASUS-AP201/1785318342458I'm not saying the A3 is bad, it's fine, but if you're shelling out close to 100 bucks for a case, then at least make sure you'll like it and that you like the look of it.
>>109393715Fuck I just sold my 5090 for 3K1 yuros yesterday and now somebody wants to buy it 3K5 i'm disgusted
>>109400493I can probably find a workaround for the cable management. drive space and no power led aren't relevant for my build. the lack of a cage or the PSU is concerning so I will just watch some build videos of people using it to get an idea. regarding dimensions, it was at the top in the matx list being one of the cases with the lowest liter value so honestly I'd just get an itx case if I wanted something even smaller. I appreciate the input tho. I will look into it
>>109400389What's even the benefit of the x970 and x970e? I read something about native cudimm support but it uses the same prom21 from asmedia again
>>109400531what do even we want form new mobos? i guess all we want from b950 is just to have 5G wifi 7
>>109400549more pcie lanes and more usb
>>109400549Am5 seems pretty much solved. Some enthusiasts will buy them of course but anyone with a half decent motherboard will just wait for am6 or whatever intel comes up with
>>109400512>regarding dimensions, it was at the top in the matx list being one of the cases with the lowest liter valueIt's nowhere close to the lowest for an M-ATX case, the floor is 20 litters, since anything below that threshold is labeled SFF. The A3 is 26 liters, which is comfortably medium sized for an M-ATX case.

>>109400167>>109400198I was considering Lian Li A3 but bought Asus AP201 eventually and thanked myself many times for the right decision. It's big enough to put inside a 2.5 SSD, a 3.5 HDD, lay a lot of cables comfortably while not restricting airflow. A3 asks for compromises while not being that much smaller than AP201.
