People always talk about USB passthrough but is PS/2 passthrough a thing?
how to yall who use a VPS as proxy and NAT-traversal thing actually do the final step of exposing services to the internet? for web stuff you can just use a web server which i already do but dont usually work with games and other non-web stuff
>>109418725technically, you should be able to pass through anything, but to what end?there are far easier ways to get KBM working
Suggestions for good NAS setup, budget $400.
>>109419544>budget $400Single 18 TB external HDD, connect it to your PC, share on network.
I've spent the last 2+ hours migrating services from my old server to the new server.
>>109420014takes me a few days to copy all the dataservices are just all the files in /etc/containers/systemd, takes a few seconds.
>>109420069I'm copying individual Docker containers. Copying volume data, setting up permissions, altering Compose files, setting up DNS. There's a bunch of little things, and a lot of services.
On a scale 1 to 10 how fucked is this?
>>109420096yep, that’s all in the .container files in the directory. even have a few that have a .build file that pulls the source from gitthe data volumes not included, I just specify those. obviously data takes time.
Any of you guys run paperless? If so, what language model(s) do you run? and what container do you use for AI? (assuming you leverage AI).
the recent LRR update is a fucking gamechanger
Where do people get their hard drives from ?I currently just look on amazon and ebay.
>>109420129Depends. I've had discs with reallocated sectors and some unrecoverable sectors before. Modern HDDs are pretty good at isolating them. I have used them for years after that with no other problems and some are still used now. If it's a one time thing than you can probably risk it if you have a good and verifiable backup. If it keeps increasing them time to jump ship.
>>109420129when did buy that
Any cheaper options for a bay with individual power buttons? I have some cold drives for backups that I don't want running but want to keep in one spot.
>Have old Raspberry Pi 3 in my closet back from my fucking around days>wanting to set up a cheap and easy NAS with a couple external HDDs I have>actually look into the Raspberry Pi model I have and it's trash>MicroSD based OS storage>USB ports share bandwidth with Ethernet>1GB RAM >look up newer Raspberry Pi 5's>WAY better specs, RAM, dedicated ethernet ports separate from USB bandwidth, M.2 hats exist, sick>$200+ for the Pi and the hat, not including other shit>can just buy a MicroPC from eBay with an 8th/9th gen T series Intel i5 with 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM for $150 including power brickFuck I miss being able to actually tinker with cool shit. Now everything is so expensive.
>>109424468you can’t tinker with a mini pc?
>>109424197Does it need to be a 5 bay? You can get the single hdd enclosures for like, $20. If you don't want to deal with the cables, go buy a USB hub and an extension cord.I don't trust those bays anymore, the cooling in them is atrocious. At least with the single hubs they don't cook each other.
>>109424508not really, at least compared to cobbling together the various parts and cool 3D printed cases of the PI series. With the MicroPC I'll do similar to the Pi, just less cool. I actually found an old 4th gen Dell MicroPC in my storage so I don't even need to spend money. I was just kind of looking for an excuse to fuck with something. Guess I'll just settle for installing Ubuntu, setting up Samba shares, and forgetting about the machine.
>>109424509doesnt have to be 5 bay, was thinking 2-3. i considered single enclosures but didnt really like the aesthetic of having multiple lol. itd be my last resort but an option for sure.
>>109424652If you're just using it for cold storage then just get one enclosure and swap the HDDs when needed. I do the same for my backups.
>>109418947games use UDP usually, just forward the UDP down the VPN pipe
>>109423099Amazon. It's the cheapest.
I find it hilarious that you idiots look down upon Tailscale. It's a fantastic software package that's extremely useful. Of course autistic contrarian retards here will try to shit on it under the pretext of not being foss or whatever.

Which countries do you block on your firewall?I have blocked Russia, China, India and Israeli IPs on my Opnsense. No incoming or outgoing traffic to these terrorist countries allowed
>>109427427>Which countries do you block on your firewall?blocking everything except VPN
>>109427427>I have blocked Russia, China, India and Israeli IPs on my Opnsensepersonally when i block a country, i block it based on previous failed login/scan/spam attemptsmy current top attempts by country: china, US, vietnam, netherlands, india, indonesia, singapore, france, hong kong, belgium, russia.followed closely by brazil, bangladesh, korea, japan, slovenia, spain, iran, turkey, mexico, ukso idk what banning russia india israel china would solve in my case, it would hypothetically block 23% of attack sources. and then what? what about the rest of 77%?
>>109429048>what about the rest of 77%?you learn to stop exposing anything but your wireguard port to the net
>>109429085>you learn toi didmy question was for anons who are like >just ban russia china india bro that solves everythingwhich is silly and shows they never ran a public facing anything ever.
>>109429085>you learn to stop exposing anything but your wireguard port to the netI don't have anything open to the public. I don't run any service or port open to Internet. My firewall automatically blocks everything from WAN. I also have VPS hired in Germany, which has been running Openvpn instance for over 3 years, but i didn't make this connection a gateway because of high latency and noticable drop in internet speed.
>>109430746the latency and poor throughput is openvpn. use wireguard

>>109431838I used to use serverpartdeals. They kinda went to shit when linus tech tips started shilling them.Kinda funny how he was always against used drives but when they sponsored his videos and sent him a petabyte of HDDs he changed his tune pretty quick. SPD has decent deals but you gotta deal with international shipping if you're outside the US. I personally stopped because of the whole tariffs thing when buying from Canada. It's only worth it if you buy bulk. If I'm just buying one or two drives the price of a used HDD + shipping + tax is similar to a new HDD from WD or Seagate, but at least I know it has a 5 year warranty instead of the 30 days SPD has.
>>109431200Nice. I'm happy for you.I wish I had a house so I can dream big. But I'm stuck renting.

What's a good 120mm high cfm high static pressure fan? I have some p12s on the front of my 4u case and they really don't seem to do much despite the opening being practically unobstructed besides the grating. Noise isn't a huge concern as long as it's not 40mm jet engine territory, and preferably for $10 or less each (need 3). Bonus if there they have 80 mils in the same product lineup because I could use 2 or 3 of those too.

Anyone got any recommendations for a NVR with a lot of 2.5inch bays? I've come into a surprising number of 2.5 inch HDDs and want to put them to use
>>109436706depends, for example i found a chink pair of full aluminum ones, and they're great at that. 40C tops no matter how much i read and write from it. you can find multibay ones too like pic related, far superior to plastic

I am looking for a mini PC with at least four ethernet ports, preferably 2.5gbe or faster. I will install OPNsense on it, and it will be running 24/7. What should i get? I've seen many noname chink brands

>>109441142I don't have a spare regular pc around and even if i had, i wouldn't use it. A mini PC will be far more efficient and quieter for 24/7 operation.
Used vibe coding to connect an agent to my router and server to harden the security, find misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, basically a full audit and so on. Surprisingly it didn't need to do much thanks to me being proactive about security.
>>109441240>I'm proactive about security>so anyways I connected some aislop agent to my network and let it make changes

>>109424468I'm still using my rpi3b as a mpd music server running rompr on my stereo. Works great. I took my 5 4gb model and just use it for ai, replaced it as my tv computer with a thinkcentre

>>109442893I do audiobookshelf+readmeabook for the wife. Abs has a good native android app and rmab is kinda like over/jellyseer making browsing it noob friendly. Get into mam when they have open signups, do the song and dance to get freeleech wedges and upload credit, and you'll be golden.
>>109443731>audiobookshelf+readmeabookJust finished setting this up, for some reason it seems like it has completely frozen my qbittorrent after downloading just one (1) audiobookThat's what I get for trusting vibecoding I guess
>>109443731>MamIs this any better than libgen and audiobook bat? I fucking hate private trackers since what.cd died
sirs what logo do we redeem?
>>109443752I have almost 500 downloads through rmab and have never had this happen>>109443784No real complaints, they have a huge selection, are easy to get into, building up upload credit isn't difficult (they have a huge freeleech list that rotates every month, and you'll be drowning in freeleech wedges in short order if you use the millionaires vault), obviously speed and availability are absolutely great, and there is zero requirement to spend a single real dollar. Downside is getting vpns to work can be kinda fucky (I just run a separate clearnet qbt container just for mam), some torrents are locked behind vip which itself is account age, ratio and upload locked (4 weeks, 2:1, 25gb but you can buy credit with points), and you are required to log into your account every couple of months even if you are actively seeding and download (not a huge deal since you need to spend your points anyway).
>>109443731>>109443752>>109443943Yeah I think this is either broken or (most likely) I'm doing something wrong. It's been stuck on importing a single audiobook for over 20 minutes now, and it keeps on crashing qBittorrent as soon as I hit import
