Do you have flicker free boot with a newer radeon gpu? it used to work well with nvidia but my navi10 card flickers like 4 times before dropping to the desktop
It's purely cosmetic of course, but it kinda bugs me, particularly when you see windows doing flicker free boot just fine

for the past 2 months the save file picker broke even more than usual
i'm using firefox, and it's the gtk file picker
the behavior that i have right now is:

1 - when you press enter while the window is open and focused it does nothing
before this triggered the save button, and the file could be saved
now i have to use the mouse and click the save button manually

2 - when saving a file with the same name, it overwrites it without any notification
i noticed this very late, i was used to just save a file, and when it notified me that the file already exists, i would just rename on the fly

3 - if the path you are saving a file doesn't exist, it throws an error that you can't recover and the file picker closes (the error says you don't have write permission on this directory)
before it was just a small notification, that would appear and then you could just click ok and rename the file location without the file picker closing itself
i use this for samba directories that take a lot to load, i remember the directory name i want to save the file in, so if i can't see the files loaded, i could just write the path of the directory at the top, and save the file there if it exists

everything was sudden after an update. i wonder what happened. anyone else is experiencing this?

If you are into custom kernels you could turn off the VGA or VESA or what the hell the basic framebuffer device is called. I've done exactly that and baked in the support for my AMD card (along with firmware blobs), the graphics come up like a second or two later than it would with basic framebuffer but there's no flicker.
Obviously it works without baking in the support but then there's the risk of being without graphics support if and when your rootfs fails to mount.

I have two folders. each folder contains a sub folder.

let's say the folders are:

>/a/b/
>/c/
>/c/d/

I want a way I can compare the contents of folder /a/ and folder /c/, as well as their subfolders. Whenever two identical files are recognized, I want the duplicate within /c/ to be deleted, and a shortcut to be made in its place, originating from /a/.
Additionally, I want this script or command to look in the subfolders, so if anything is in /a/ and in /c/d/ then it'll still work, and if anything is in /a/b/ and in /c/ it'll work, and if anything is in /a/b/ and in /c/d/ it'll work.

Is this possible or is it too convoluted and specific to do any way except manually? I know the diff and comm commands but I don't know how to really make them work for exactly what I'm looking for here.

The everything iso already has the packages downloaded which is why it's a massive iso that's much larger than the regular workstation. However the packages may be outdated depending on when the iso was built.

The normal workstation iso just always downloads the latest package from the repo over the Internet at install time and is much smaller in size as a result.
