>>109424123real hynix a/m dies demand their high price. the others like samsung/micron/cxmt should drop their prices because their ram cant even touch a candle to hynix.
>>109424130Well you can estimate the demand, which is high. AI investment is highest thing we've seen ever of all time. Like 3 manhattan projects going on in several continents at the same time.Individuals want local llms and pc's with extreme amounts of memory for funzies.Companies pay out the ass to get high vram nvidia hardware, nvidia then spends a trillion to secure supply. The AI companies have stock evaluations with combined 10+ trillions that they use to buy hardware. Then you have supply which is artificially limitedGetting more supply takes tens of billions of investment and several years and has friction like requiring well trained staff that accepts kinda lousy working conditions, expensive machinery that needs its own maintainance staff. Stable global supply chains while usa/china are having trade wars. China is blocked from having tools that would speed up memory production on purpose.
>>109424169>China is blocked from having tools that would speed up memory production on purpose. Not really, RAM can be produced using less sophisticated nodes, which China definitely has. Memory has stopped scaling down in size a decade ago, no one is using cutting edge nodes to produce it.
>>109424198They use like tsmc 5n or 3n for memory controllers. Then the chinese "good enough for our military" nodes can have yield and perf issues.usa is limiting export of even the older asml machinery into the country. The point is without trade war we'd have more ram.
>>109424169I can estimate that the investment is wildly out of proportion with what this shit will ever yield within a 10 or even 25 year period. It's undoubtedly a bubble. I have two datacenters just starting to be built near me. People are all whinging about it, telling me how unfair it is and how they wish they could stop it. I've been telling them not to worry, those shits will never be finished and if they miraculously are the scope of how much damage they do to their surroundings will be orders of magnitude less than projected because the sheer scale of it will be that much less; but honestly, expect they will just scrapped partway through and the half-finished buildings sold to make Walmart Supercenters.
>>109424302Microsoft, meta, google, amazon, apple have endless cashflow to dump into datacenters. >>109424938>Do you have it configured with raid?I used to but with how prices are going for everything, even mechanical HDDs, I decided I'd just run each drive independently for the sake of longevity because I have no reason to have multiple drives spinning up at the same time. >>109424856Last chopper out of Saigon'd this shit by getting it in November.I'm slightly tempted by a 6090, but I'm not sure there any games coming out that I really care enough about to justify it. I guess it depends how I'm doing financially in like 2 years or whatever.
>>109426328>I'm slightly tempted by a 6090, but I'm not sure there any games coming out that I really care enough about to justify it.You legitimately won't need anything more than a 3090, 4090 or 7900 XTX for the next 10 years. The vidya industry is crashing
>>109423177
>>109426538any game that only targets 40xx and 50xx is dead in the water on sales even when these figure they are crap laptop variants. Anything a 1080ti or above is as much as you will ever need as long as you have more than 10gb of vram.
https://youtu.be/F3mihdCcM18?si=LU4rX-ERoxTurkykIs it a good idea to put an SSD with a (presumably) graphene sticker on it under a motherboard heatsink?

>>109426599Wu Kong that came out a few years ago is still pretty demanding as well as newest Monster Hunter Wilds and RE Requiem.
>>109426599>>109426627Having a single platform of optimized hardware makes game development a lot easier. Good devs can get a out of existing hardware. The downside of >muh PCMR is that devs have to optimize for weak hardware like pic rel
>>109426635>devs have to optimize for weak hardwarethey literally don't. that's why games run like absolute ass these days.

I bought a 2 meter cable matters dp80 2.1 cable (2 meters should be possible now) and it fucking has artifacting indicative of a dodgy cable, even though it is listed on the vesa certified website. none of the reviews have any issues so either 99% of people who bought it don't actually use 2.1 and vesa just test the bare minimum or I bent it in such a way that the cable is FUCKED. do I buy a silkland cable instead, they don't even sell 1.5m ones in Australia on amazon
>>109427279>I have bad credit and don't get loansI only just got credit over the last 16 months via a car loan, and I still can't get approved for anything else because my credit profile is still "too thin". It's such horseshit.
>>109427306just use 1m or wait for active optical dp cables lol it's a failed memethere is a reason longer hdmi2.1 cables are AOC or you will get fucked>>109427362well I'm eu and one missed payment and you are riddled with bad credit for years until it's removed from the systemI thought I would be clear now but I got another thing three years ago that's gonna take more months to clearhave literally had the same shit for years nowI've been evicted from apartments over it barely can get a phone line, internet, pretty much anythingmakes you unhireable for certain jobs or even not if they carepretty much you should be a social outcast
>>109425084That's just an issue of things wearing out, easy to fix.Just buy a bunch of encoders and switches from China, they cost fuckall and your mouse will be as good as new.I got fed up with buying new mice and have now replaced my wheel encoder and switches multiple times.Only thing you need to do is solder a bit and that's it, extremely simple and saves you tons of money.
>>109427306i bought 2 of those cables, 1 to use and 1 as spareit's been running at a 80Gbps link speed to deliver the required 69.7Gbps for my 3440x1440 360hz monitor and I haven't seen any artifacting whatsoeveryou probably got a lemon and should just try your luck with another 80Gbps 2m cable

Should I get the MSI 321urx or the ASUS PG32UCDM?The Asus one costs $400 more in my region.

>>109428411the 14400+3050 rig will run circles around the 780M
>>109428348The monitor triggers a panel protect cycle whenever it sleeps (or if you pressed standby button) after four hours of cumulative use.MSI's notification settings (16h/24h) don't change this rule, but if you leave it on for 24 hours straight, it forces the cycle automatically.Pixel Shift is not a deal breaker, I barely notice it at [Normal] mode.>>1094281184K 360Hz QD-OLED monitors (16:9) with v-stripe RGB subpixels and TrueBlack 600 rating (350 nits minimum full screen brightness) is scheduled to release next year btw.But these will easily cost over $1,200. I'd set aside $2,000 (it won't cost this much, but prepare for the worst).
