I am owner and lead dev at a startup and I can't hire junior devs anymore. Yesterday I fired all 5 junior devs and hired one senior dev at one/third the combined salary. His expertise? 10 years of pre-AI software development and 3 years of vibecoding. Those jr devs were probably last zoomers, fresh out of college and have no idea what they are gonna do in life. They have limited context window size. They can't keep the same information for more than 6 hours without being fed again. They are hard to teach, maintain and improve. Thanks to tiktok and shorts their brains have been wired to work on smaller context window than their last generation. They are as good as railway workers. With kimi, I am playing to invest in more GPUs and keep a very small human resource. I have no other choice. The media and youtube personalities aren't serious about what's about to come. We are looking at entire generation of useless human bodies.

A coworker of mine was complaining one of our new grad hires can't program without AI. Part of our job requires being able to program with little to no internet access, and the new hire has been begging for a DGX for offline use since he started. I don't think this is that different to not being able to program without Google/StackOverflow, but you start to wonder what they actually know and how much they are really learning.
OP here again. I wanted to state that there's a lot of denial going on in the youtube and social media space where jr devs are given false hope. I don't know who benefits from that.
