its a bit expensive for a non-oled
its VA so I'd look at reviews that do pixel response time testing to know how much it smears or not

>>
>>109441645
Nah its fine if its made with samsung patented tech, but since not all VA is fine I look at reviews before making a judgement.
The smear is most noticeable if you have a high fps game and you look at something with mix of dark and brighter patterns and move the camera with a mouse. The darker pixels transition slower and the image looks messy
Its complete non issue for media viewing, you could watch movies with a 50ms dark transitions and it wouldnt hurt the experience.

I can't get my dual-boot Linux Mint + Windows PC to recognize a new Nvidia graphics card. I updated my motherboard to the latest BIOS and uninstalled the drivers for my old AMD graphics card, but neither of those worked. Thankfully, my CPU has integrated graphics, so I then ran lspci and dxdiag on the respective OSes with the old and new cards, both with and without power, and with no card at all. The only results where a card was recognized were those of the old AMD card with power. This also aligns with the fact that the old card's fans spin on the GRUB and BIOS menus, but the new card's do not. The way I see it, there are 3 possibilities:
1. My PSU is inadequate, but this doesn't make sense to me because the new card is listed as having a "Recommended PSU Wattage" of 550W, and my PSU is labeled as 600W
2. There's something wrong with the PCI slot settings in the BIOS (or the PCI slot simply isn't compatible with the new card)
3. The new card is defective
What should I try next?

>My friend keeps trying to get me on linux but my reasoning is that when something goes wrong for a schmuck like me and I need to look something up, "xyz problem windows 10" is way more digestible than "xyz problem linux"
you should really get a practice pc/laptop to try it out on before you dedicate yourself, for day to day use it's fine but the instance you actually need to do something it's far harder than using windows to do the same. you'll spend troubleshooting for hours. hopefully ai can help a little bit more in that regard

There's a nigga here selling used 10TB Ironwolf HDDs with reallocated sectors for $40 each. Most of the drives have less than 60 reallocated sectors and two of them have 1k and 2.6k bad sectors, respectively.

Probably a long shot, but my Radeon Chill suddenly stopped working correctly. I set the range to 60-120fps, but in-game it idles at like 72fps without any input from me. It still shoots up whenever I move my mouse or press keys as intended.
So basically it's behaving as if it's detecting a constant "phantom input" of sorts. I tried unplugging a bunch of shit in case it was one of my peripherals malfunctioning, but no dice.
Any ideas are welcome.

Sup /g/uise. Guy with dead PSU here. Replaced it and everything works! I was scared shitless for a moment. Glad I went with ASUS for GPU/motherboard.
Anyways, just one small issue, the front jack stopped working.
I’ve tried everything, reinstalling drivers, separating the HD audio cable from everything else, reseating pins. EVERYTHING.
I mean, it’s not a huuuge issue since I have audio interfaces for music production anyways but it’s really bothering me. Any guesses? I’ve read that ATX 3.1 PSUs tend to do that shit.

Be prepared to return it if you don't like it, I'd say the same if you were considering an OLED (for different reasons).
It will probably boil down to whether you can deal with potential VA smear + miniLED blooming on small, bright highlights.
>>
>>109443396
5090 is a GPU worth custom liquid cooling if you're into that hobby.
You might need a fan cooling the card's power connector tho (air cooler's fans lowers the connector's temperature).

Try to undervolt + OC that GPU, and set a stricter power limit (80~85%).
Set a 120 FPS limit on the games you play.
Enabling Anti-Lag 2 in supported games should automatically limit the FPS near your display setting's maximum refresh rate (this is good).
These changes should help the card run more power efficiently without relying on that Chill feature.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naBqsSfGX3A
You should set a tuning profile when you OC/undervolt with Adrenaline, I've read a driver crash reverts everything to stock settings.
There's an automatic undervolt option in Adrenaline if you don't care for all this.

You're on your own.
Worst case, there could be a few dead pixels (not enough to qualify for RMA) or minor issue(s) that isn't covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
>>
>>109443508
Proof of purchase changed safety for some parts.
With proof ram has long warranties for complete failures that arent users fault
Tray cpus are warrantless so they're risky. Intel 13-14gen cpus may have degradation. Other boxed cpus with proof of purchase are safer.
Gpus don't die easily, so if it works when its being sold its relatively safe. You can repaste the thing.
Mobos have too many failing parts to be safe, but if someone sold it as a cheap combo you might risk it.
Psus are relatively safe, but if one fails and destroys something downstream its a problem.
cases are whatever, expensive to ship and people dont like storing such big things safely in the house so youd priorize buying locally

That has to do with positive air pressure in the case.
So you want more intake air pressure than exhaust air pressure.
More sure you have more total CFM (fan size + RPM) going into the case than out of the case.
