i'm about to buy all the parts right now (prices are australian)
cpu and ram are from aliexpress. i could go cheaper ram (chinese CUSU brand) which is the same amount/speed/etc but about $30 cheaper. to be honest I'm feeling safer with Kingston. i was almost convinced to get the Arc B580 which is almost half the price of the RX card but i'm concerned about longevity and support. it's crazy how much GPU's are going up by and i need to buy this 9060 asap because they go up in price seemingly daily. i'll need to buy a windows key too so that's more $
thoughts for 1080p gaming?
>>
>>109451732
Highter tier GPU models don't really bring anything of value - useless factory overclock (you probably will undervolt them anyway), useless "silent/performance BIOS" switch and maybe RGB. As for the 12vhpwr: why would you choose between retarded models, babysit them and pray when you can choose between models with a normal white man's connector?

Just avoid the two 12vhpwr models and Gigabyte cards, they leak their thermal paste. The rest are fine.
Sapphire and Powercolor models (except maybe the Reaper) ship with Honeywell PTM7950, so you don't need to worry about repasting it anytime soon. Can't speak for the rest of the cards.

If you for some reason want a highter tier model: XFX Mercury > Powercolor Hellhound > Asus TUF. Between the three I would pick the Hellhound.

ty anon i will check that out
the 8gb variant is less than $100 compared to the 16gb. the way i see it, for every part in this pc the jump to 16gb card is the biggest price to performance difference. like i could also get the 5500x3d over the 5600x but it's a ~$70 price increase for hardly any performance difference, as far as I can tell
>>
>>109452240
I'd assume MSI prebuilts have the better upgradeability if they're using standard boards & PSUs.

Fellas.
I got a shituation.
My mother and sister have handed me an old prebuilt and told me to update it and get it set up for my nephew. I also have some spare parts.

Currently build:
CPU: Dunno, something Intel from the 2010s.
Motherboard: Asrock H110M-DGS
GPU: GTX 1060
RAM: 16GB DDR4, Teamgroup 2x8GB kit, 2400MHz.
PSU: KOLINK KL-600
CASE: Some awful prebuilt custom job. Bad airflow, needs replacing.
Other bits: Has some terrible 120mm AIO. Grimy as hell. Has a HDD and a SATA SSD.

Spare parts I have:
CPU: PRO 5650GE
GPU: 1080 Ti

Needs Wifi in some capacity.

My thought is just to get a cheap case, a B550 motherboard and a cheap CPU cooler and it's good to go. Maybe a new PSU. Should be a couple hundred quid in the UK.
>>
>>109452167

It's not just more ports, it's better ports. Higher USB standards (faster), some motherboards have thunderbolt. Better NIC (2.5GBe/5GBe/10GBe/). Then there's also more M.2 ports, more PCIe lanes from assuming you're talking something like AMD A or B series vs X870-E. Lastly is VRMs. Both Quantity and quality, more SATA, some baord have better placement of some ports for more efficient wire routing.

Cheap boards offer everything you need these days

>>109455604
>10+ years ago, cheap boards would throttle your CPU because of their lackluster power delivery which lost you performance
depending on how cheap a motherboard and how heavy of a CPU you're using, you can still have that occur. I.e. an A620 motherboard with meh VRMs and no VRM heatsinks to push a 9800X3D, you can possibly thermal throttle the VRMs, dropping clocks. But yeah, cheaper motherboards usually do the job. In my personal opinion, it's worth getting at least middle of the road though like a B series if we're talking AMD still. I noticed the AMD chipset/traces on really cheap boards are prone to feedback and whining.

After looking through a lot of cases and discovering that no glass is a rarity, it came down to the 7000D Airflow or the Define 7 XL by Fractal Design. As this point it doesn't matter if it's true.
The PCB costs that are being reported may not even affect mobo vendors. (They use relatively low layer counts)
If it does affect them, it might not even be a consequential amount. (PCB might be cheap compared to components/assembly/QC)
It might be actually true and be a substantial cost difference.

Regardless of what's true however it WILL be an excuse to raise prices and people WILL defend the decision with their lives despite them having no stake in any of these Taiwanese companies.

They wont put cudimm and dd5 slots on motherboards at the same time because there's no space for it. And they won't replace ddr5 with cudimm because the boards would be doa - cudimm is a pretty exotic memory format even now.
>>
>>109458819
i think you mean camm2? cudimm is just a slightly different variant of regular udimms with an extra reclocking chip to improve signal quality
>>
>>109458775
It's going to have the worst possible RAM, but at least it'll be dual channel (2 sticks).
>>
>>109458819
CUdimms are just regular dimms with an additional chip on the RAM that allows it to clock higher and be more stable.
>>
>>109458948
I have the RAM in my current pc to mitigate that
>>
>>109458904
>>109458819
DDR6 will be camm only so it'll stop being exotic next gen and be the standard.

It’s honestly perfect, all you need is an air tube from the outside with a Hepa filter at the end of it.

worse than even 165hz oled tvs

won't beat qdoled in colors because no quantum dots

hdr500 so it will be brighter than the new rgb woleds I guess and maybe around same or higher color saturation

it will have better text with the rgb pixels but 120hz and worse brightness and colors than qdoled?

you could even just buy the rgb woled 240hz in this case

and next year 4k360 vstripe qdoled will just triple ass rape it

how good is a 5060 TI 16gb for 1440p gayming? (assuming i use dlss 4 or whatever)

and

how bad are VA monitors really? i bought one and then realized it was VA, i can still return it but are they really that bad? i just play single player stuff and marvel rivals

play a game of your choice and check if you can notice any sort of ghosting and decide yourself. VA used to have pretty bad response times.

Generally fine if you're willing to adjust settings, it depends on the games you play.

Unfortunately for guys like us, optical drives are on their way out. You can't even find a Blu-ray drive these days. I have one in my current computer that I use for ripping discs to HDD, but it can't do 4K. If you want one that can you'll pay through the nose - expect about $500 to cover the cost of a QUALITY Pioneer drive, plus getting a guy to flash the firmware. Sick fucking world we're living in.
>>
>>109458253
>>109460201
Meant to add that your other option is to buy an external enclosure.

https://a.co/d/085jyjAO
>>
>>109460117
I also bought one a couple of months ago. I still love it. I haven't noticed anything wrong with it while gaming. Maybe I'm blind or something.
>>
>>109460161
Cope.
This, like "OLED burn in so bad!!!" is just cope.
I've had severe ghosting on 2/4 IPS screens. No visible burn in on 4/4 OLEDs and no problems on 1/1 VAs.
I have ran my OLED 24/7, mostly on a static screen for a year now.

It's cope for worse, budget tech like TFT and IPS and it's fine if you don't wanna spend on a better display, but this FUD is nonsense still.

why are you recommending va
verified certified inherent to the technology
its the worst slowest response variant

Playing around with fan control I realized my 12 year old fractal case fan is quieter than my NF-A14 140mm PWM at equal rpm

not something I expected, and it's by quite a margin. The noctua fan makes quite a bit more noise at 1000rpm than the fractal one. Of course I run them at half that but still
>>
>>109460369
Because mine, after 2 years, does not have any of these problems. It is however wonderful at 4k 144hz 1000nits.IPS wouldnt be able to produce such nice contrast but it would also cost more to get at the same brightness.

Look, it's fine if you are happy with a budget ips. I dont think I can go back now because I've gotten used to better looking screens. Outside of the 2/4 IPS heavy burn in "ghosting" screens, I also had one completely fail just outside warranty. So even if my VA or OLED had a catastrophic issue I'd probably go with the same tech again just because it looks so much better
