I have to get and LCD/IPS display phone to stop the flicker on OLEDs that is killing me. I have an S20FE that has a flickering OLED and is slowly dying but I was happy with it. What are my options?
I tried a Motorola G57 and it fucking sucks, it is a budget phone with crap microphones, speakers and camera.
I am now considering an iPhone 11 as it was the last LCD iPhone (apart from SE 2022 which has inferior specs). What would I have to deal with getting that in 2026?

Everything you need to get an ad-free YouTube Music experience on iOS without paying for a subscription, you can sideload custom modified IPA files like YTLitePlus or YouTubeiVanced using tools like Sideloadly, AltStore, or SideStore. With Google locking down, it's crazy to think in 2027 iOS will be able to install files without a pc and android will need a 24 hour wait than a pc adb file load.

Here's the latest iOS 27 beta with the latest Siri ai VS the latest Gemini ai. You can use the link to watch the video to see the before and after results and it's not even close the new Siri AI beats the Gemini AI in photo and video editing. Google messed up the parking lot lines for the parking spaces, it also messed up the guy's eyes when removing glasses, it also messed up removing his hand holding the laptop and finally it was not able to remove the entire shelf against the wall.

Base model and pro model have same chip. Build quality is fine even on the a series. Hi-light feature in the pro model may or may not age well. I'd think the base model is the way to go unless you're worried about 12GB ram not being enough and are willing to shill out for the pro version with 16GB.

i have a pixel 8 that i bought when it first came out. during intense usage and certainly when it's hot out, my battery will last about an hour or so.

apparently the new pixel sucks so much that it's not even considering, is that right?

is it time for me to leave the pixel line? i've been in it since the first ever iterations.

would switching over to samsung be a shock to me? what would i miss from the pixel ecosystem?

You won't miss anything from the Pixel because Samsung has the same apps then doubles up with its own messaging/browsing/pay apps etc. The one thing that will shock you is how clunky OneUI is compared to vanilla Android.
>>
>>109547838
What is this clunkiness people bring up? I have a Note 10+ still, have never found it lacking in speed or anything. And most of the "new" features android seems to get is old shit Samsung threw in with their everything and the kitchen sink approach. Everything else I think can fall under custom launchers, have Nova on mine.

First day with the Flip 8 and I can say I'm satisfied: it's bulkier when closed, but being just a square makes it more comfortable in the pocket; both screens are very nice and the speakers are better than I imagined; the flex mode is a gimmick, but a fun one. The only downsides are the cameras, and the shitload of AI at every corner, which I disabled because fuck all this surveillance really. I got it for less than €800 which I guess is reasonable.

I know this general is dead but I can get a brand new Xiaomi 15 12/512 for $879 or a new 512Gb Samsung S25U for $1500. I'd prefer the cheaper phone and I prefer the size of the Xiaomi over the Samsung. The biggest complaint of the Xiaomi is that it's software is crap, which I should I get? I intend to use it for 5 years.

Jesus thats such a big price difference. I'd only argue for Samsung because in this case if you're planning on keeping it for that long you're better off using software thats going to be at least bearable in the long run. At the end of the day the software is what carries your day to day interactions and the more annoying it gets the worst it'll feel.
>>109553763
If you can't justify paying more than $1k stick to your current phone and save money down the line to make the hit feel smaller regardless of what phone you pick in the long run. Personally got the F8U on a whim but the price is a major point against foldables especially since any repairs are expensive as fuck.

It kinda contradicts the point of phone being mobile. Why use a small thin phone when you need a powerbank? Why use phone camera when you need proper pictures with proper lens? Why use tiny phone screen when you can just use tablet or a laptop? To me a phone is form factor, and using powerbank ruins it. One of the reasons I also got myself a new phone now with much bigger battery

pixel 11 series announcement wasnt very exciting and it seemed a bit expensive for what it was but there was a good sale on for samsung z fold 8 ultra so i grabbed one since my pixel 6 was getting a bit old. pretty cool that this thing folds in half lol the screen is so big. it's really nice to ssh from, much easier to type on the big split keyboard. any tips i should know having never used a folding phone? i know you need to be very careful about not letting dogshit get trapped in the middle screen when you close it, and never dropping it open because the middle screen is delicate, but it seems like it'd be really hard to make a strengthening case for this without just padding the thing to hell with leather or foam

What's interesting is that later Si/C phones don't have as much of their capacities artificially capped. For instance, OnePlus 13 was capped to 89% of its rated capacity while OnePlus 15 was practically not capped at all. Chinese OEMs adopted Si/C too early just so they could have a higher number on their spec sheet. This would probably explain why Samsung took as long as they did to adopt Si/C. If Samsung got caught artificially capping their batteries below even their rated capacities they'd be in deep shit.

Black 1tb version. Chinese rom. Not like global version is that global in first place, this phone is nonexistent in Europe and I'm not going to get troon orange or boring silver.
The crease is visible but different. Instead of it being a clear U shape, they solved by adding some layer in the middle of the hinge which pushes the crease outward in the middle. You can even slightly feel an upwards bump. So instead of one big I you have more like 2 small uu. Compared directly with new Samsung this oppo is way more flat and folding/unfolding does not appear to leave any impact. When the display is turned on you ofc can't see the crease, but you wont see it on Samsung either in similar fashion, so writing/watching unfolded is not disturbed.
I'd put the crease part into cool tech but not game changing. I expect flatness to last longer than samsung though.
Camera is cool, it also has integrated ai Photoshop so women would love using it for selfies, colours look cool.
Pen is interesting gimmick and I'm still working on all the functions. Yes, right at you, Samsung. Works with all screens and comes with two replacement tips.
Battery is HUGE. Battery charging is insane. The special cable that comes with phone is very thick meant for high current. Thicker than my typical usb cable that I used for my previous phone.
Chink ROM: it doesn't come as pure Chinese rom, as the seller does a custom update so you get play store and proper English language. Only issue is that certain Chinese programs still stay Chinese and you can't really do anything about it (global rom doesn't have them at all). Only thing left is either uninstall them and get Google stuff or learn Chinese because they seem pretty cool although pointless for a non Chinese speaker.
Basically you get a degoogled phone. No bloatware no annoying ads. So far I'm happy.

>>
>>109556104
Yes. It's actually much worse for budget phones because RAM is now taking up the majority of the cost of the entire phone.

It still hurts high-end models but because of the higher margins on them it doesn't make up as much of the total BOM costs.

>>
>>109558287
Can't speak for the 15, but I went from an S23U to OnePlus 13 and found the UI to be better in terms of responsiveness. OneUI has a bunch of features but it would always hitch/stutter which just made the phone feel like a cheap piece of shit even though it was almost $1K. OOS (ColorOS) might not have muh Good Lock, but it never ever lags, is very responsive and animations are way smoother. Setting animation speed to 1.5x arguably looks worse than 1.0x with this skin.

15's display is a typical flagship OLED. 10-bit and 165hz are a meme though. Personally, I noticed that my 13 would refuse to enter HBM in sunny conditions where my S23U would consistently do so every time, so do with that information what you will. Reviewers and other users never mentioned this so I'm not sure if this is a software bug that's also present on the 15 or if it's just a hardware quirk with my unit.

That's just a mobile computing problem in general. So many laptops still come with 60Hz displays even though the iGPU in most of them these days could definitely drive a 120Hz display.

The other thing i REALLY want to get a new S ultra with the anti reflective coating. I constantly use my phone in low brightness and lights bouncing off the screen is very annoying. Having samsung internet is a plus as well since it's as good as brave.

Ok after using N6 I found one shortcoming (and no, Samsung doesn't even have this functionality in first place).
Basically there is the pen and the pen is cool and stuff, it does what it needs to do. Function wise it's great.
However there is a contradiction:
The pen needs a special (back) case to charge it. It is charged by the case which takes energy from the coil from the phone. The problem with this is the fact that if you are using the pen case, you cannot charge phone wirelessly as it will oppose the direction of the pen case.
The moment you use pen you need also the use special case which prevents you from wireless charging.
Either you have to take off the case and charge it wirelessly and put it back on, or you have to remove pen from charger and leave the case on top of your normal phone case so pen can charge and you will still lack dedicated pen slot.
Also the pen case is ugly (comes only in boring grey).
Feels kinda dumb as pen fits the device perfectly but using it cucks other functions. You have a contradiction within your phone. What was oppo thinking? Could've at least added different pen case colours to match phones better....

The edge is so fucking cheap, its like 500 dollars because of all the youtubers shitting on it. I almost bought an edge myself but then I ended up getting the fold 8 after it got announced around the same time

>now a majority of phone dont have a 3.5mm jack
and that's a good thing, unless you're African and you are forced to have all your media offline due to country restrictions. otherwise, buy S26 Ultra with 1TB in Cobalt Violet.

Using a Oneplus 15 right now and only have positive things to say so far. Great battery, screen, speakers, build quality. Got the sandstone version. ColorOS is fast and responsive. OnePlus won't be sold here in the US in the future but they will support this for several years yet.
Without heavy use this battery will last for 4 or 5 days. Heavy use, including long video call I got 2 days.
I used to use Samsung phones but they just stopped being interesting to me.

Can someone breakdown the science of screen protectors and if its pointless or not? I have a spigen screen protector on my s26u but the reflections when im sat outside typing to you guys are awful. I can see my face in it. Obviously the s26u screen has anti reflective properties so im wondering should I just take it off. I originally got it becauee I thought the s pen would end up leaving scratches on the screen but I now know that's retarded as fuck.
>>
>>109570065
You want to resell your phone eventually and have "pristine" screen? Use protector.
You want to have a pure glass feel with maximum clarity and you don't mind eventually some scratches to appear? Remove it.
>>
>>109566753
get a Galaxy S25|6 Ultra and be happy, Pixels are expensive e-waste

>>109566822
yeah, better get the Fairphone, they're actually about to release a new one soon, XCover phones are fine but Samsung is very stingy when it comes to selling replacement batteries, last time I checked they don't sell them to anyone, you need to be enrolled in some kind of corporate deal with Samsung to be able to buy them

>>109566867
wow I didn't knew this, unfathomably based, glad I switched everything to Revolut a year ago, fuck BBVA and their ass app

>>
>>109570065
they're not pointless, but they only protect your display of two things: scratches and oleophobic coating degradation.
to protect the display of cracking use a case with decent corner protection.
the s pen won't scratch your screen, its tip is plastic and that can't scratch glass, however pocket lint, dirt, dust and sand WILL eventually scratch it, no matter how strong is this year's version of gorilla Ass
>reflections
either get a matte screen protector or cope
>>
>>109570065
The reflectivity of the screen takes on the final layer that meets the air so whatever protector you're using determines its reflectivity
To get the advertised anti reflectivity, you'll need to run your phone without a protector or opt for Samsung's official anti-reflectice plastic protector (only about 60-70% as good as the native performance)

my brother got the new samsung fold thing and gave me his old one and damn it's such a huge upgrade from what i was using (S8+)

can you actually get this thing for like 300-500 these days? that's kind of a snatch imo but idk shit and am poor, it's also sketchy buying used phones but if they really fall this much off in price then buying some old shit is the meta for sure, theres gotta be so many powerful ass phones sitting there for the taking jsut because they happen to be like 3-5 years old
>>
is poco x8 pro a meme? haven't found a better alternative in the price range.
>>
>>109573696
It's the same as with guitars. Just by someone having his (metaphysical) dick on it, the price already drops a lot. When new model comes out usually price drops even lower. Many phones are usually in a decent state and you can figure out how it looks and who the user was

A 20% generational improvement is not bad at all, especially when they're not just using a Snapdragon like everyone else, and don't have the same level of CPU designer talent that Apple has.

If they keep investing in Tensor they would easily be able to overtake the competition, except maybe Apple.t
>>
Any hope of Samsung un-cucking the front screen on the Flip 8 at some point?

I don't understand why they wouldn't open it up to be fully interactive like the Motorola Razr, instead of just turning into a big notification screen
>>
Is there any hope for next year's Galaxy Fold9 being cheaper or maybe a downspecced Fold8 FE?
>>
>>109574772
Why would they make them cheaper? People are buying them and they see themselves as the market leader and Apple doesn't have a Foldable to compete with them.

They know they can charge what they want and the people that buy these toys will still keep doing so.
>>
>>109574790
>Why would they make them cheaper?
Because maybe RAMpocalypse and NANDpocalypse is over
And it also makes me feel happy
>>
>>109574797
Sorry, Korean company doesn't care about your happiness, especially when they were the ones that caused that RAMpocalypse and NANDpocalypse in the first place by selling production in their own foundries to bigger fish and leaving their internal product teams working on consumer products hung out to dry.

It's actually pretty good for a homegrown CPU design that isn't using an off-the-shelf processor from someone like Qualcomm/Snapdragon.

I'm more curious about the GPU. Has that improved at all relative to the Pixel 10? Did anyone test that.

>>
>>109575964
20%-25% generational improvement isn't a meme. Apart from Apple, they're pretty much the only one making their own CPU designs.

Even Samsung is embarrassed by their Exynos chips to use them in their flagships now.

Screen protectors do work for their intended purpose but are still kind of a meme. All you need to do to prevent scratches is not keep anything sharp and metal in your pockets. I haven't used a screen protector in 10 years and none of my phones are loaded with big or small scratches.
