I know I missed the boat on affordability, but it's not gonna get better anytime soon as far as I can tell and I'm realizing my prehistoric RTX 2060 build is struggling very much to keep up with modern games
>>109565111
this is what I picked out for myself
does this choice of parts look good? I can probably find slightly better prices for each component by hunting around, but in principle this is within my budget.

The memory kit I picked out is better than that overpriced Corsair.
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/YHDnTW/v-color-manta-xsky-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-tmxsal1660830kwk

That Windforce SSF card isn't worth $100 more than the basic PNY 5070 model I picked out.
5070 doesn't draw much power, and you can probably keep it running at under 200W without losing much performance with a 900 or 925mV undervolt.
This PNY model probably has a better cooler than that Windforce if you don't want the PNY Slim card.

Case is personal preference.

There are better PSUs if you're willing to spend around $110 for one.

Is the monitor in the OP (KTC M27T6) good? What about other options?

Tomahawk's third M.2 slot runs at PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 vs G4 x2 on the B850 MSI Pro V Evo.
Tomahawk also has a few more USB ports.& better power phases (VRMs likely to run cooler at high loads, not too meaningful if you stop at 8-core X3Ds)

The hype kind of died down and TCL's been aggressively releasing new miniLED monitors.
If you don't care about HDR, I advise you to buy a cheaper IPS 1440p gaming monitor and wait™ until higher quality miniLED or OLED monitors release.

M27T6S is an IPS miniLED that's decently discounted in the US.
But its HDR accuracy isn't that great (makes the image brighter than intended).
Don't expect these Chinese monitor brands to release firmware fixes in the future.
Worst case, you can use this as a normal IPS monitor with local dimming off.

IPS alternative for me would be the ASUS ROG XG27ACG ($220), this is choosing the devil you know..

Why not just upgrade the CPU and GPU to save $900+? Markets go up and down overtime right now the market is very high
>>

>>

aren't CPU and GPU the most volatile components when it comes to price anyway, other than RAM?

Is jumping from 5600X to 5800X3D worth it?

Depends on the rest of your system, budget, and the games you usually play.

if

thing is you wont feel the jump as big as some of >us previousgenfags did

>>109565756
Basically you upgrade the CPU/GPU keep everything else (assuming you have enough DDR4 ram) and by the time you are hardware limited in however many years the prices would likely be lowered as the AI buying will not last for years meaning they will have to go back to catering towards personal computers again. AM5/DDR5 is nothing special and a AM4 5800x3d is not slowing down any GPU currently made including the ones that cost 2k. Kind of like the car market in 2020 if you bought then you go hosed if you could hold out for a bit longer keep your current car running you can now get great deals, basic supply and demand.

Emulation and strategy games are probably the only significant resource hogs. The most recent game I touched that could be considered AAA was BG3. Might try the odd UE5 slop but not interested enough to upgrade just for that.

X3D is better at running those CPU demanding games/emulation..
Whether it's worth the +$200 upgrade cost is up to you (assuming u sell the 5600X).

I've NEARLY completed my first PC build. However, the only thing that's prevent me from completely finishing it is the problem I have with display.

The PSU I have has two VGA cables, and I don't know if I have to use both of them since the PSU as two PCIe ports. The GPU has two 8-pin ports. One of the VGA cables splits in two and from what I've read it's so that I can power the GPU using a single cable. The other VGA cable has a daisy link. Both of them have 6+2 connectors, and I cannot for the life of me keep them connected to make 8-pins. Are they supposed to clip on and stay connected?

With the GPU, I'm certain that I have it installed in the motherboard properly. I even had to remove the CPU cooler just so that I can SEE that I was installing it properly. I did put the CPU cooler back in afterwards.

Despite all of this, when I turn the PC on and plug the monitor in, I still get a no signal message on the monitor regardless of whether I'm using Display Port or HDMI. Not even plugging the monitor into the motherboard's DP/HDMI ports work. It still displays the no signal message.

Am I doing anything wrong? Or is there something wrong with the VGA cables?

>>
>>109566224
>Are they supposed to clip on and stay connected
the +2 pins normally slides onto the 6 pin block and the whole thing clips into the GPU in my build.
If terms of your other problem, the fact that you're not getting any output from your motherboard's output has me thinking the issue is beyond you GPU power. Are you sure the motherboard is getting power at all? Fans spinning, lights flashing ect.

Hi all,

I’ve finished my build, booted it up, updated the BIOS, and installed Windows. Before I close the case and start using it, I’d like to plug in a SATA cable so I can add extra hard drives later. My be quiet! Pure Power PSU came with two SATA cables that look slightly different, and I’m not sure which one to use.

I’d like to add one hard drive for now, but I may add a second one in the future. Could someone take a look at the cables below and tell me which one I should use?

Cable 1:

(1) https://postimg.cc/cgSvXZq9

This cable has different plugs at the end of the cable.

Cable 2:

(2) https://postimg.cc/DWdGVmPL One of these

(3) https://postimg.cc/6T1vxkCt Four of these

The second Sata cable has one connector from the above link and 4 from the second link.

Can anyone help with what goes where? What cable should i use, what plugs in where? What goes in the motherboard? What plug goes in the Hard Drive?

Sorry if i've confused matters.

Thanks.

Burn in is a non issue in normal use, these niggas are literally playing the same channel 24/7 with just the scheduled pixel refresh cycles in between, you'd literally need to spend basically 20 hours per day with the TV on to achieve that.
Plus, the non oled ones they tested didn't fare any better, hell, they were even worse thanks to basically some shit like the miniled backlight failing or the whitening film over the leds burning and the backlight being purple.

I saw the thread on /v/ about monitor prices going up and I'm still using two IPS monitors, I'd been itching to buy an OLED for some time and only one is 4k 144hz so I figured I should try get another.
This shit is driving me insane though, it feels like I've seen the same responses in regards to OLED for the past decade. Has truly nothing changed?
I was torn between Samsung 32 Inch Odyssey OLED G81SF and ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDMZ but even the latter has people saying that there was burn in after 2 days, which surely can't be true...
I really hate this.
>>
>>109576982
why would monitor prices go up, monitors are overpriced to shit in general and are extremely volatile in swings literally 50-60% price cuts are not uncommon

>Has truly nothing changed?
burn in is the not even a factor in the amount of other problems that come first that you will have to deal with, totally irrelevant, your shit will probably break in other ways before it becomes legitimately annoying

>there was burn in after 2 days
image retention is not burn in only a retard says that

>Samsung 32 Inch Odyssey OLED G81SF and ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDMZ
samsung is matte and asus is glossy
samsung navigation knob plastic is so bad it breaks after some use, horrid qc
they are bot hthe same old panel now
if you want the latest good panel you need pg32ucdm3 or something like the new msi 322urx24 or pherhaps the cheapest of them all the gigabyte mo32u24, all these have the newest brightest qdoled panel in 32"

BUT.. if you truly wanna ascend and escape the shit HDR of the monitors and join the higher ranks of HDR Gaymers and actually see more detail in games because SDR is dead you should buy a high end tv for better brightness, color, hdr

pretty much you should just buy a S95H (in Na) s99h (in eu) in sizes 55-77" or you can consider a discount s95f 55-77" or if you are more poor even a discounted s90f or s90d if they still exist (55-77" in na, 65" only in eu)
