Need a bit of advice on The Unc Box.
Here's how it stands:
>CPU: Ryzen 5 5650GE
>COOLER: A620 GDL
>MOBO: ROG STRIX B550-F
>RAM: 16GB DDR4 2600MT/s
>GPU: 1080Ti
>BOX: Montech HS01
>PSU: Montech Century 550W
>SSD: 256 SATA SSD.
>HDD: Old ass 2TB HDD

Basically the story is my nephew wants a "Gaming PC", and so my sister said "Hey, you do computers, can you do us a computer" and I said "Yeah, I guess I have some spare parts?" and I cobbled this together, bought a new case for it, PSU and MOBO for it.
But, it's obviously pretty lacking in some areas, the SATA SSD and HDD are pretty brutal. 1080Ti is old, and really needs repasting, but I haven't done that before and I don't want to break it, so a hot and loud GPU is better than no GPU. Case has a weird fan layout.

So, what I wanna know is, if I say to the lad "Here's a PC, it's kinda old, but if you save up X amount for Y part, I can buy it and fit it for you" what parts would you guys suggest? I guess an M.2 is the obvious one. And a GPU is next on the list.

I built a new PC and installed the drivers. After a short period of use, I left it inactive for a while, and during that time it suddenly shut down. When I turned it on again, the GPU fans did not initially spin, and the PC did not post. After some time, the fans began spinning, and the PC posted. The first time when I turned the pc on, the gpu fans spinned the moment I pressed the power button but not that time.

Now, I powered the PC again, and the GPU fans spun instantly.

Is this an issue with the GPU, or was it just a new pc getting its bearings?

Those deal hunting subreddits have plenty of hollow consumers chasing their next dopamine hit.
>I dont understand the lack of fear
The legitimate ones and earn enough money selling working tray CPUs.
You should only spend as much as you're willing to write off in case of getting a defective processor.
I would've drawn the line at the $150ish 5700X3D a few years ago.

start with memory
gpu is probably a red herring - fan stop at low temperature is common, when you started it the second time it had already warmed up so the fans started up right away
>>
>>109584541
Check the power plan and see if the PC went to sleep.
Get HWInfo and check the operating temperature of the components.
Make sure all the power cables are fully inserted (hear the click).
This is a long shot, but disable Fast Boot in Windows & the board BIOS.

Check whether the memory modules are fully seated.
Check whether CPU cooler is firmly mounted (ideally even mounting pressure applied).
Check storage drive connections.

unless you want the screen and have tons of m2 laying around there isn't really a point to. PCIe sockets are lower, primary GPU starts at the third expansion slot as warning. It also has no hdmi out only display port using usb 4. If you just want two m2 in X4 pcie gen 5 without usb 4 the dark hero or 2006 are better.

I'm fairly the cables and components are connected correctly but I guess this will be the first thing I check if it happens again.

Is it possible that it's a BIOS issue? I think the BIOS in my mobo is somewhat old.

it's the difference between 2 seconds and 4 seconds load times. big numbers on pcie5 NVME makes people forget just how capable a SATA SSD is, even in the worst case scenario for them, directstorage pumping out big compressed files into VRAM straight from the SSD, SATA SSDs manage 2GB/s, which is only going to be slow once pumping out 32GB of data into VRAM on every loading screen becomes routine.

You'll need to do more research and get 100% confirmation from those board owners.
You will need ECC-supported UDIMMs, and avoid standard (non-Pro) AM4 -G CPUs.
AMD doesn't validate ECC support for AM4 consumer platform.

>>
>>109591227
I believe it is 100% bios related issue. amd bios is whacky and out of standard. you can buy from 3 different vendors and each one will have a different default memory refresh mode. one will have normal (what amd intended originally), the other will have fgr (what amd recommends now), and the last will have mixed (normal & fgr combined).

depending on your ram kit this is a nightmare.

x3ds are made from server reject chips. zen6 just came out to servers and now they are building that x3d pile.
>>
>>109591276
no, consumer x3d is made from rejected server x3d
its not like they take the non-x3d reject dies and then add the cache
there are no x3d zen 6 epyc chips shipping yet

>>109591386

>>
>>109591386
what does it mean. I am just tired of waitfagging and the 9800x3d keeps dropping in price
>>
>>109591474
The process of making an x3d die is taking a regular die and stacking cache on top of it, which isn't free and has its own yield percentage
You want to take known good CCDs and apply the extra cache layers
Starting with a shitty CCD would be a waste

>>109591489
Its the difference between waiting until January and maybe waiting until March/April

>>
>>109591474
It's a matter of profitability, not feasibility.
There's less money to be made when you package those chiplets in consumer CPUs.
The new silicon wafers should prioritize making server chips, whatever downstream products left for consumers.

>But Intel doing client Nova Lake first
Probably because their new Xeon CPUs are still behind Epycs in both performance & enterprise demand.

You can build a cheaper ITX HTPC if you just want to use Steam Remote Play.

the GPU in the steam machine alone makes it $300 more expensive.
you don't need a gaming GPU for home theater.
but if you are including gaming for HTPC, and by theater you mean watching netflix in a browser, I assume that's fine.
Also you can buy a really expensive KVM switch that supports freesync/gsync (for your main monitor, your TV probably doesn't have it), and just wire up everything up (usb hub for KB+M and a hdmi cable) so that you can switch between your HTPC room with a press of a button (and I believe steam OS is just big picture mode, and you can just buy the steam controller if you want to a dedicated scroll pad on your controller for netflix).

What's your insinuation here, that he cannot download nvidia drivers?
>>
>>109593151
It's that jew. he promotes nvidia, and insults people, and um.

Like his culture is to totally different he doesn't understand our ideas, our existences, our commons, that which we shall return to be.

It doesn't matter, he uses it. It's an insult, he insults, there's no concept involved.

I have never met an intelligent jew. But they do have an instinct for preferences, and selling crap.

saw the new gta 6 leaked gameplay and how tiny the map is and was not impressed
think I will just upgrade now and not wait for it on PC
>>
>>109593193
Why upgrade now? No new games are worth a damn and prices are insanely high

why do you think the term white trash exists
>>
>>109593601
Because northern whites need a magical scapegoat after achieving hegemony, but not ushering in an age of black exceptionalism. Somehow, a white guy in a trailer park is keeping the unpronouncable name people in the Amazon from becoming collage material.
>>
I saw a billboard the other day, Google was offering free training for non-whites.

why is exactly is nvidia, intel and windows brown coded?

And thats why china is winning

Fanboy shit is always cringe.
These companies do not care about you, they never have. You should not either.
Just buy what does what you want hardware to do for the price you wanna spend.
It's not difficult.

What's the next thing AI will make expensive?
>>
>>109594862
anything that uses nand or nor besides ram & ssds.
motherboards, monitors, controllers, kb+m, hardware flashers, wireview pro, etc.
>>
>>109594868
oh no
>>
>>109594862
well, it's gonna make 2027 dating cheaper.
>>
>>109594971
It's going to make it more expensive, because bitches will be using AI to screen the men, and we already know AI has a bias for text created by other AIs, so you'll have to pay for AI in order to get through the AI screen, and then you'll be left with a date with some retarded hoe who was propped up by her friend who's good at coming up with good prompts and who was 30lbs lighter in her photos.

I think motherboards. Right now the ony thing that holding the price is old inventory but i really think high end MOBOS for the next socket are gonna be retarded.
>>
>>109595392
guarantee you the first ddr6 boards are gonna be insane pricing.
>>
>>109595512
your right but i doubt anyone needs ddr6 with how good ddr5 already is
>>
>>109595576
I just use EDO memory as there is no need for anything better.
>>
>>109595512
I think 620 models may still be cheap but everything above entry level will be expensive as fuck to try to squeeze enthusiasts
>>
>>109595754
I prefer TOKYO memory
