Are you sure the CPU isn't the cause of these issues? Every memory stress test is a CPU stress test.
Go to the BIOS to confirm the CPU power limits are set to sane levels (PL1 & PL2 for Intel, PPT for AMD) before you run CPU stress tests.
Run Prime95 SmallFFT afterwards, it will test the CPU cores & cache.
You also might want to change the maximum CPU operating temperatures to levels you're comfortable with (85~90°C).

Did you install the OS in a clean, formatted drive?
Use DISM & then /sfc if you haven't.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/backup-recovery/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files

If this doesn't fix the issue, you probably need to backup your porn, other important files, and format the OS drive.

I don't love it, but I tried 2x frame gen in Space Marine 2 because that game makes my 5700X3D sweat really hard in horde mode, and it's not terrible if you're natively at 60+fps. It's good enough to where I prefer it over spending $1k to go to AM5 for an equivalent number of real frames.

the 24" oled is worse than the 27" 1440p 500hz ones running 24" mode because you get a higher effective res and the exact same hz as the 24" monitor will have, effectively you already have that monitor right now but better
that is if you just cant move the monitor back a few inch so it effectively becomes a 24" with the same viewing angle
did you know this or not?
in short, it's an IQ test
unless of course its genuinely LOT cheaper

with extended warranties, free panel replacmenets, buying open box, fuck buying used cheap as fuck, combining one or several or all of these strats and or abusing them, oled tvs as a monitor become extremely economical, I've been telling you this for years at this point

I just bought a new PC with nvidia geforce gtx 1070ti, i3-10105, 16GB ram, reinstalled windows on USB stick and installed gpu drivers, also asus app for motherboard which is a PRIME model. I previously had an office level shit PC that barely ran games, so even if this is an old gpu by today's standards its a massive step up to me. I've recently learned about capping the framerate to my monitor's refresh rate and that GPU temps should stay consistent, ideally below 80 C according to google I suppose. Are there any other "gamer" things I should know or am I good to go?
>>
>>109611318
there was something with gsync. Cap framerrate in-game 3 FPS below your monitors max, disable vsync in-game and enable it via the Nvidia control panel but I don't know if people still do this.

>>109611318
Look into undervolting + overclocking the GPU. Also youtube is filled with videos of optimal settings for getting max image quality from older hardware for specific games.

Hey guys

I just finished building my PC, but I don't know why the CPU fan,my “Peerless Assassin”,keeps making a hell of a racket even when I'm just running Windows.
So I used Fan Control, which let me create a fan speed curve. When I'm doing office work, the noise isn't too bad anymore, but when I'm gaming, it's pretty terrible,it sounds like a constant jet engine.

Sometimes, the cpu will rise its temp for just few seconds, and then go back to normal.

Its a ryzen 7 7700x
>>
>>109611900

>>
>>109611900
You live with the noise. It comes with buying a tower cooler.

Have to pick one. Luckily I have a spare bedroom so I moved all my PC and server stuff there so I can use the tower coolers without the noise bothering me.
>>
>>109611900
the 7700x runs hot. best you can do is further tune fan curves/hysteresis settings and give undervolting or eco mode a try.

The thingie it supposed to output 42dBA at full power, that's not loud at all. Do you have other fans of similar size to compare them to to see if something's not defective? Nevertheless, a 7700x doesn't need the fans working at full power to be effectively cooled, noise and cooling power aren't linearly related, cutting fan noise in half compared to max volume doesn't mean you're getting half the cooling performance, but actually around 80% of total.

Thermalright coolers should be able to handle that processor just fine.
Check the mounting pressure for the heatsink, you don't have to remove the entire thing.
Slightly tighten the screws if you can, don't apply a lot of force.
Confirm both screws are evenly tightened.

It depends on the motherboard, but the M.2 drives with integrated heatsinks usually run cooler.
The motherboard's SSD heatsink is good enough for most people.

Alright fellas.
Operation Unc Box 2 is a go.

Situation:
My sister asked me to build a PC for my nephew. So, I cobbled together a system with 16GB DDR4, Ryzen 5650G and a 1080Ti.

However, rather than this being a family PC, it's now moved to a "What if we got both of the boys a PC?"
So, I'm now having to cobble together Unc Box 2: Little Bro's PC.

Here's what I've got:

CPU - 7700K
RAM - 16GB DDR4 (Apparently I just had a bunch of DDR4 kits lying around)
MOBO - H110M-DGS (Need to wifi to the machine somehow, motherboard doens't have wifi)
GPU - Only GPU I have spare now is a GTX 1060 3GB, and that seems kinda cruel.

Need:
Case - Was thinking something mATX
CPU - Cooler is needed for the 7700K, it's old, but it's still a 91 TDP
GPU - I'd feel bad giving the little guy a 1060, even if it's just for Minecraft. Ideally something around the power of a 1080Ti.
PSU - Anything works
HDD/SSD - Pricy.

What do you think lads? Think it's even worth trying to scrounge something together, or should I just be looking to buy a used system somebody is flogging for cheap?
>>
>>109614070

There's PCIe WiFi cards or USB dongles.

>CPU - Cooler is needed for the 7700K, it's old, but it's still a 91 TDP
Cooler pricing depends on the region, get an affordable Thermalright or Deep Cool dual tower cooler with 120mm fans.
You can also consider thicker single tower coolers with 120mm fans like the Kotetsu Mark 3.

>GPU - I'd feel bad giving the little guy a 1060, even if it's just for Minecraft. Ideally something around the power of a 1080Ti.
RX 6600XT or 7600 if you don't want to break the bank.

That's your homework, look for used systems with a 1080 Ti level of GPU and do a cost comparison.

I used to have one SSD and 2 HDDs. With my new desktop I have one nvme and 2 HDDs now, but the HDDs were full, so I bought a new one, but it'd be pointless to transfer all the stuff from one of them to the new HDD. So having the space for 3 would be nice.

Bloodborne is extremely impressive for 2015.

Bloodborne devs actually went through and 3D modeled bricks and crevices all over. It's crazy. It has a higher poly density than DS3 easily. And rivals ER in most spots.

Bloodborne and DS3 do share some assets, and Bloodborne always gets the higher resolution version. Likely to get it to run on Xbox One (30FPS @ 900P). PS4 had excellent memory and bandwidth but a mobile CPU, and Xbox one had bad memory design with the esram and a mobile CPU. Jaguar was weak even back in 2013 due to it having weak single core CPU performance, but AMD could offer nothing better at the time. PS4 uses fast 5500MHz GDDR5 RAM, while the Xbox One uses slower 2133MHz DDR3 RAM

Each segment of its world benefits from what appears to be tessellation (or costly parallax occlusion mapping), which in conjunction with a displacement map gives the city's rickety brick roads unique juts and divots. The time of day is meant to change so all lights are dynamic

Bloodborne does have a lot of 1024x1024 textures, buuuut does have higher resolution textures for characters, armor, etc. Admittedly, there are many instances of them using a 2048x2048 texture, but it really just depends on how large the surface it was being applied to is

The Doll is found outside the Workshop, in the Hunter's Dream has 4K textures (4096x2048) though PS4 is running at 1080p

Bloodborne had support for screenspace reflections, but only via the debugmenu (SSR is utilized for in sekiro, elden ring, and ac6)

>Jun Into, lead programmer for Bloodborne, DS1, Demon's Souls says, "up until now we've worked in worlds that feature a lot of armour." However, he goes on to describes how PS4 unlocked new options for Bloodborne, where the team "spent a lot of CPU power, [especially] on simulating fabric."

I've had a DDR5 system for years. I didn't stare at the screen everyday, I didn't read the tea leaves to time the bottom.
I just bought in because I found a good deal on a Z690 motherboard. Something that was discounted for months.
At this point I can only conclude that if you're somehow coping with an overpriced 5800x3d, or don't have a PC then you are not interested and were never interested.

I can feel for broke teenagers or peeps outside the US where everything is stupidly overpriced
However even outside of RAM, both AMD and Intel where basically giving away good chips and mobos. No excuse for anyone in the US to not have a decent system if they actually wanted it.

As an old-timer PC gamer, it's really just about the games that you want to play. Most games are designed for PS5 or Switch 2 hardware, with exceptions to UE5 slop.

It wasn't until recently when PC hardware was largely standardized with everyone using 5800X3D, 7800X3D, 9800X3D or 9850X3D. If you weren't around for the Athlons, Pentiums, FX, consider yourself lucky.

I'm trying to build a pc in italy for little above 1000€. The goal is gaming (at 1080p for now at least) and some cpu workloads (music production, compilation).

The lowest priced 16GB cpu I could find (that wasn't a550) was the 9060 xt at 460€. In terms of CPU I was looking at the intel 270k at 320€. I could probably spend half as much on the cpu without bottleknecking gaming, but the benchmarks I've seen position the 270k very well for non-gaming tasks, which makes it interesting.

I've picked the other components without double checking just to get an idea about the final price. I'm leaning towards 1 16GB stick of ddr5 since two 8G cost twice as much, and I can upgrade later.

Thoughts? https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/np3Xn2

you're paying a hidden dead socket tax by going with intel, AMD lowered the price of the 9900x to €320, as well

My first PC had an i3 2120 and a 550 TI.
At the time it was MORE than enough for any PC exclusive indie and MMO. Being able to play some older multiplatform AAA games more flawlessly than consoles was a bonus.

The biggest thing was just having a modern PC period. I never actually intended to exclusively play on PC at the time or had something I definitely wanted a decent PC to play with. I just discovered everything was superior and the Xbox became only for Halo and some Netflix.

>Does iBuyPower make good PCs?
They probably sourced the cheapest components for that Walmart PC.
Doesn't necessarily mean it'll croak, 7700 XT is relatively easy to run, and the 8700F CPU's an emasculated APU that should run at under 100W power draw (65W TDP).

Halo 2 PC / MCC, the lighting is missing in a lot of places, notably any scene or spot that relied on self-shadowing and spotlights. Everything is lit from a global, single direction. This results in a lot of the cutscenes looking objectively worse and overall flat compared to the original Xbox release.

yeah no kidding you force a more cpu bound scenario and the difference between gpus shrinks. No, you shouldn't expect your $2000 gpu to get way more frames than a $700 gpu if you're rendering a game at 1200x720. It's common sense. And yes reviewers use settings that nobody actually uses to emphasize the performance of the graphics card when not cpu-bound because gpu tests are supposed to test the gpu, not the cpu. troglodyte. jayztwocents tier video.

your graph already illustrates what he's on about. 5070ti is 5% faster at 4k but it's slower at 1080p native
1440p quality dlss is 960p so the difference would be greater

The 9070 xt and 5070 ti are nearly identical in raw raster. Architectures scale a little differently at different resolutions, sure, but what we are seeing both at 1440p quality and 1080p is performance within margin of error (<= 5%).

The 5080 is actually a little more telling here. It should probably be pulling ahead a little more here than it is.
>>

that nvidia-specific cpu bottleneck shows up worse on faster gpus. the 4090 and 5090 are most affected by it

>>109617772
If it was actually causing significant performance degradation compared to amd equivalents I would call it a problem. Instead I just see graphs shrinking in difference and if a slower card does overtake a faster one it's within margin for error which is expected of a cpu bound scenario.
>>
>>109617773
2160p dlss quality = 1440p (slight bottleneck)
2160p dlss performance = 1080p (large bottleneck)

1440p dlss balanced = 835p (massive bottleneck)

I could probably get a 750 ti to get more fps in stellaris than a 5090 if I just ran the test a few times and picked the one where it was 0.4 frames higher.
>>
>>109617782
but that's literally happening to the 5070ti and sometimes, the 5080. the 9070xt overtakes them at lower resolutions/higher fps since it isn't as bogged down by nvidia's gpus by cpu bottlenecks.
>>
>>109617693
I'd take out the expensive stuff for carry on, but yeah pretty much.

I play at 4k with some low internal resolution upscaled with dlss in battlefield 6 and I get a solid 140 fps on my 144hz tv, with a 5070. You just can't beat dlss, reflex low latency etc.

And how is the 5090 doing in those graphs. Is it still significantly ahead of the pack? If not, that's just a cpu bottleneck unless you're seeing the 9070 xt pull ahead of those two by a notable not-margin-of-error amount which ive yet to see

google KXRORS G200 , or Shiny Snake G200 for other sellers or if you need more in depth specs.

Other than that, assembly of mini itx builds is a bitch and you have to get creative sometimes.. There ARE ATX PSUs that won't fit and the long thick cables of premium modular psus can be a problem. You could also stick to a SSF psu, if you want to be on the safe side.
